User questions & answers

Question: Can this take a photo of something while it is not in a microscope
Answer: In theory yes, BUT it would require some additional optics in front of it in order to focus an image properly.
Question: Will it work on usb 2 ports
Answer: Yes, it will work with USB 2.0, but there will be a delay with live viewing. I have tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0, and there is a delay with both, but with 2.0 it is more pronounced.
Question: Does this camera have a magnification factor
Answer: No, it is meant for use with a microscope, such as the Amscope models, https://www.amscope.com/stereo-microscopes.html.
Question: Does this camera use a rolling shutter or a global shutter
Answer: The software gives checkbox options for either operation, but judging only on the camera behavior I'd say it is probably global shutter. That being said, I've never tried it in "rolling shutter" mode in the software. Sorry not more help :-/

User questions & answers

Question: Can you use it on to see the grain structure of metal
Answer: As long as you have sufficient light to illuminate an opaque object, yes.
Question: The camera in the photo says 0.3mp on it. does this really include a 5mp camera, or do you get the 640x480 camera in the picture
Answer: Haven't used this function yet
Question: Since you cannot use the eye piece with the camera, what magnification can you use with computer screen
Answer: We used a 24 in. monitor with max magnification. Lighting set up end being a bit tricked out but we were not looking for a a fully clear image, objects .0005" just their outline so we could justify a more extensive set-up. At 200X things are clear and sharp. Just stating our experience based on short term project.
Question: can you attach a dslr camera
Answer: I think you would need an adapter. The included camera just slides in the same tube as the eyepiece.

User questions & answers

Question: Will this light fit a se308pz microscope
Answer: As and wonder of this light I have a Meji stereo Micro scope. I have a place to use the set screws. They are flat not tapered. Looking at your scope I’m not sure if the tapper would present a problem? Your call
Question: I work with a soldering iron under my microscope and I like to add this unit to light the working surface. Is the housing metal or plastic
Answer: I work with a soldering iron under my amscope stereo zoom with this unit, which has plenty of room. the worst that can happen is you will put a burn mark on the housing if you are not careful. The light works great and isn't hot like the flourescent bulb type, it is a great product for the price.
Question: How does it fit a mounting size of 63 mm when the ring light ID is only 60 mm
Answer: I have a protective plain glass lens on the bottom opening which has a smaller outer diameter than the bottom part of the microscope. I screwed my light onto that rim. Btw. This light is awesome I paid hundreds for my first and second set of lights. They never last long and the LED lights fail one by one and the light gets dimmer and dimmer. Lets see how long this one last. So far absolutely no complaints
Question: will this withstand a reasonable amount of vibration? it will be used with a drill press
Answer: Good question, but I feel the answer is No. The 3x set-screws that hold the light onto the microscope are threaded through plastic. I don't believe that this would stay tight and in place on a drill-press.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this what I need to use for my canon 80d
Answer: This is a reduction lens for a digital microscope camera. For your Canon you should look for this https://www.amazon.com/AmScope-CA-CAN-SLR-Camera-Adapter-Microscopes/dp/B005OZ5NXU/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=canon+microscope+adapter&qid=1577012858&sr=8-6
Question: What is the diameter of the microscope end? I am looking for one that is 31mm
Answer: The unit has a 23.2mm OD barrel but comes with two adapters sleeves that increase the barrel's outside diameter to either 30 mm or 30.5 mm. The 30.5 mm sleeve will get you close to a 31 mm eyepiece and if necessary you could always wrap some tape around the sleeve to make a slightly tighter fit.
Question: Will this work with the MD500 Amscope camera
Answer: No, the reduction lens are only compatible with the MU series cameras.
