User questions & answers

Question: How would I go about using a tripod with these? What items would I need to get
Answer: These are only 7x binoculars. You won't need a tripod until you get into higher magnifications. 7x50 used to be good standard binoculars for decades, because it offered enough magnification while still being able to easily hand-hold them steadily. At 10x it starts to get more difficult to keep them steady. 50mm lenses in them are just large enough to make images bright & sharp enough to see clear even in shady areas, shadows, & star gazing.
Question: Can the focus be adjusted for near-sightedness
Answer: Yes, it can be adjusted on the right eye piece to compensate for near sightedness. Helps me a lot since I have astigmatism in my right eye.
Question: What are the farthest objects in the night sky that one could see with this specific pair of binoculars? Can you see any planets
Answer: Well technically one can see the great Andromeda galaxy (M31) with relative ease and good resolution in the night sky. The galaxy is about 2.5 million light years from earth (15 million-trillion miles), which is pretty far away Other objects that can be well studied with these binoculars include the Orion Nebula (1600 light years away), the craters on the moon, the pleadies star cluster (425 light years away), and much more. One can study planets using these binoculars too. With these, one can make out the 4 largest moons of Jupiter, and the elliptical shape of Saturn and its rings. I've also used these to locate the distant planets Neptune and Uranus I'm the sky. Ultimately the quality of viewing will depend on dark-sky conditions (light pollution, etc)These are good binoculars for their price.
Question: Will these be good for hunting
Answer: Hey, I am completely, 100%, AGAINST hunting! Make that 2000X against it. But, for the love of Peat- leave the (may I assume you are a man?) alone. He asked a simple, genuine question, and you 3 jump on the man, ridicule him and make him a target ( no pun intended), for your sanctimonious vitriol on him. I hate the NRA, hunting, etc. but you know nothing about him and you judge him. Yea! Such BIG BOYS, hiding behind a screen, judging someone you haver met. But I would PROMISE you this, if an asteroid hit 1/2 the earth and we were scavengening for food, starving , I am going to be glad to be around the person who knows how to hunt food for my children. You don't have to agree with someone's principles, but it doesn't give you the right to be cruel. Shame on you!

User questions & answers

Question: Does anyone know the difference between this binocular and the one that sells for $58 by the same maker
Answer: Don't see a binocular listed at $58 on Amazon. If the questioner could give the name and number, (e.g., Celestron 7332 Nature DX 8X42), I'll take a stab at an answer.
Question: Is this a good bin for star gazing and looking at the moon
Answer: For holding with hands better than a x50 but not as good as a x35 or x25. If you have a mount a x50 or x60 would be better. These binoculars are better suited for bird watching where star gazing is a secondary function.
Question: Which is better for the stadium, the 8x42 or the 10x
Answer: Most 10x42 binoculars have a field of view of about 300 feet at 1000 yards. This means you just need to be over half a mile from the field and you will be able to see everything unfolding on the field, and it will appear much closer than if you looked at it from a 1000 yards with your naked eye.
Question: For beginning birdwatchers, is the 8x42 or the 10x42 better
Answer: 8x42 until the amateur birder becomes more proficient in identifying birds and his/her use of bins. I used 10x50 in my start of the past time, and then switched to 10x42. I also use 12x56 bins since they serve better for long distant viewing and identification.

User questions & answers

Question: how is the range finder feature? Is it easy to use
Answer: This is a hinge release with two adjustments: 1. The speed ie how much rotation is required to activate and 2. The timing between 'the click' and moment of execution. It is basically the same as Carter's 'Total Control' and previously 'Two Moons' It provides finer adjustment than say a Stan Jet Black where the speed has adjustment but 0.006" or 0.010" sears have to fitted to achieve different click/fire timings. A Tru ball HBC is the same, micro speed setting and option of faster or slower sears. I found the adjustment on the Ascent to very good.
Question: Does the compass actually give degree reading or just n,s,e,and w
Answer: The one I purchased certainly did and I kept the packaging. It not only contained the release but also Instruction sheet and a small packet of replacement micro bands. The band is was re-cocks the hook after each shot. Release will work without band as just involves flicking hook back (similair to a Stan).
Question: What battery do these use
Answer: Yes, the Ascent Micro has a patent pending dual sear locking design and a thumb peg for drawing assistance. It hooks onto a d-loop to deliver comfort and confidence at full draw.
Question: What kind of battery does it require
Answer: Mine was camo.
Question: Can the smart phone adapter be connected to this binocular for photography using Samsung S
Answer: I just got mine and do not see a way to adjust the trigger. Is it the very small, less than 1/16" Allen screw I see when the trigger is all the way back?
Question: whats the difference between the skymaster 15x70 ($70) and the 20x70 ($660) other than zoom. why is the 20x so much more expensive
Answer: Yes
Question: Will they preform at high altitudes
Answer: works great with a d loop as the head rotates so no torque, in my opinion the easiest release to shoot using back tension, just pulled back and squeeze your fist.
Question: Are the lenses real "ED" Glass
Answer: Yes
