User questions & answers

Question: Is the compass more or less susceptible to deviation than a standard ships compass on a recreational boat
Answer: Being a simple magnetic compass, I would imagine that it is just as susceptible to deviation as any other magnetic compass. This is an interesting question that I have not received before however, so I'd like to confer with the folks at Steiner in Germany and see what they have to say about it. *Please* reach out to our technical support department by creating a case at steiner-optics.com/repairs, I've let them know to keep an eye out for it and loop me in if you get in touch. Since Deviation tables for the ship's compass are carefully developed for the configuration of a specific vessel, i would imagine that the Commanders would experience different (not necessarily 'more) deviation due to their location on the vessel at the time you're using them. Whether that's enough to throw off navigation is a question I don't know the answer to, but I imagine as with many things 'it depends'.
Question: Does,it have a image stabilizer
Answer: No. Due to the large field of view afforded by the porro prism design, along with the stability of the lower 7x magnification, stabilization isn't necessary for maritime use. Additionally, image stabilization is a feature that would greatly reduce the optical quality of the binoculars, resulting in a poorer image than the Steiner glass can deliver. If you use these binoculars on the water, I wholeheartedly believe that you will find image stabilization to be unnecessary.
Question: Can the compass be easily adjusted if sailing to different zones outside of north america? or is this a factory setting one and done
Answer: The compass zone can be changed, but it requires disassembly of the compass housing. This is a service that our technical support department provides. If you plan on regularly traveling outside your native compass zone, I'd recommend the Commander Global binoculars, as they have a digital compass unit that can be easily recalibrated.
Question: I wear glasses. Can I use these with them
Answer: You may not need the glasses. You probably can focus the Steiner binoculars so you can see clearly depending on how strong your eyeglass prescription is. I recommend you call Steiner’s U.S. office and ask them. By the way, I have the 2304 on my boat in Florida and they are terrific. A Coast Guard officer told me they are a standard issue on all Coast Guard Cutters.

Diamondback HD Roof Prism Binoculars

The Diamondback HD smashes the scale of price vs performance, delivering a rock-solid optic that optically punches high above its class. The included GlassPak binocular harness keeps your glass close at hand, ready to deploy at a moment's notice, all while providing protection and significantly more comfort than traditional neck straps.

Adjust Eyecups & IPD

The eyecups on the Diamondback HD binocular twist up and down so any viewer can see the full field and enjoy comfortable viewing—with or without eyeglasses. When not using eyeglasses or sunglasses, keep the eyecups fully extended. For the best viewing when wearing glasses, twist eyecups down.

The interpupillary distance (IPD) is the distance between the center of your left and right pupils. Match the IPD of your eyes and your binocular by rotating the barrels in or out until you see a single image free of shading.

Focus Your Binocular

Use the center focus and diopter to adjust for vision differences in each eye. Choose an object about 20 yards away and perform this two-step process:

  1. Close your right eye or cover the right objective lens with your hand. Look at the object with your left eye and adjust the center focus dial until the image is in focus.
  2. Close your left eye or cover the left objective lens with your hand and rotate the ring until the object is in focus.

Neck Strap

Attach the padded neck strap in these three simple steps.

  1. Push a few inches of the strap through the strap attachment on the binocular.
  2. Hold the buckle and thread the end of the strap through the buckle.
  3. Adjust the overall length, then pull tight until strap secured within the buckle.

Lens Care

In order to enjoy the best views through your binocular, take time to regularly clean the exterior lenses:

  1. Remove any dust or grit from lenses before wiping. Use a can of pressurized air, soft camel hair brush, or an acrylic optical brush.
  2. Clear lenses of smudges, fingerprints, or eyelash oil. Fog the lenses with your own breath, then use a nonabrasive lens cloth to clean the lenses.

GlassPak Binocular Harness

The GlassPak Binocular Harness stores and protects your binoculars while keeping them close at hand for quick deployment. Tethers attach to your binocular for added security against accidental drops while the fully adjustable straps create a comfortable fit. Follow these steps to attach the binocular tether straps.

  1. Thread the wide end of the binocular tether straps through the harness strap buckles.
  2. Size to fit by adjusting the one-size-fits-all harness strap.
  3. Thread the binocular tether straps through the strap attachments on binocular.
  4. Thread the binocular tether straps back through the tether strap buckles to secure.

Question: I have a pair of 12x Nikon binoculars and the magnifications seems to be just the same as these 12x.. Can anyone verify if these are truly 12x
Answer: My brother had a 12x Bushnells binocular and this past summer at the races he asked to borrow mine for one race. He couldn't believe how much closer things looked especially with the small size and weight. I used his for that race and had to agree, I chose wisely. He order this binoc the next day. So, yeah, they should bring you closer to the action than a 7x. Are they exactly 12x? I don't know, but they are not 7!
Question: Does this product really used HD professional optics glass as described
Answer: I can only respond that I am super pleased with my binoculars. I’m not a bird watcher but I’ve been using them pretty much for that purpose. Used to see different birds across and around the small lake where I live and now I can see them clearly and up close to be able to recognize them. I am so glad I bought them and can’t beat the fantastic price. My sister is planning on buying a pair because they’re so much better than the one she has.
Question: Does luxun binoculars come with a carry case
Answer: It comes with a case and cleaning cloth.

User questions & answers

Question: So these note extremely compact and yet the product dimensions show 8.5 x 5.6 x 2.9 inches, but 8.5 isn't compact, so ]what is the actual folded size
Answer: It has a neck strap but not a belt clip. They are wonderful lenses. My sole gripe- cheap, loose lens caps. They behave like infant shoes- always falling off and I'm sure I'll lose one .I'd prefer a single rubber cap that attached to the device.
Question: Do these binoculars come with the following accessories (rainguard, tethered objective lens covers, neck strap, case
Answer: I would call it a protective cover more than a case. It is a soft padded cover that packs well.
Question: Where/which country are these Terra's 8x25 made
Answer: The are not weather or water proof.
Question: What's the max pupil distance
Answer: I just weighed mine, without lens caps, and they weighed 0.58 pounds. Nikon Travelite, 825, 5.6* 007145 CX. I do like them for things like birding up close.
