| Answer: | I have a T3i and the remote works well for me. Originally, I thought the remote did not work, I was wrong, it works if you set your camera to 'see' the remote. I have a Canon remote and it didn't work so I figured two remotes don't work - it has to be me. You can't just use either out of the box. I did some digging on the Internet, the Canon manual in not very clear. Don't look at the Remote Control section, look at the section of the manual. For example with the T3i I needed to set the camera to 'M' and roll the main dial wheel to and then set the camera for self timer and chose 'Self Timer: 10sec/Remote control'. I tested firing the remote from straight on and left and right. Both the Canon and this remote work quite well. For me, I have about a 180 degree range from the front that the camera 'sees' to click the shutter. I prefer to use the 2 second switch on the remote so I have time to get my hand down if I am in the picture. Otherwise all the pictures show me with my hand in front of me clicking on the remote. |

My girlfriend has the same headgear and we had to take a lot of the slack out of it to get it to fit securely. For a child's head it might be possible to adjust it to the maximum extent but that could cause it to fit poorly and not be secure. Based on the size of the headgear I don't think it would work well for your typical 8 year old. |
