Answer:	I've never owned the Slik, but the RetiCam I have. (ready for what?) But I do own a Slik 700 prodx, which, like all their tripods, is very sturdy and well-built. Features-wise the RetiCam is probably superior, but this doesn't mean crap if it isn't durable. If you plan on using it a lot IN THE FIELD for macro, as I tried to do, the SLIK is probably far superior. If you plan on using it at home to shoot toys etc. then the RetiCam will serve you well. Just don't get it mixed up with the toys or you'll never find it (My son has toys made better than this). I'd still go with the better build quality you get from Slik. POC? NOT!!

Answer:	I don't believe the clear piece can be removed. However, you can purchase them without that clear piece.

Answer:	I did not buy this item. I made my own see through section by cutting and gluing (solvent) a clear see through adapter. Because I use an emaciator and have such tight area to work in I bought the Valtera gate valve that swivels and use the clear adapter on the bottom side of the gate valve to attach the emaciator through the opening for the drain on my motorhome. I origanally bought the Camco gate valve without the see through section but it did not swivel and I need the ability for it to swivel to attach it the drain.
