Answer:	Music videos are 99.9% shot with out sound. The band is just lip syncing/ playing to the prerecorded song. If you are trying to record a live performance of a song they you really should use better mics and record to a dedicated recorder and then sync in post. As a way to get a cleaner sound in the camera for syncing this is a good choice. Aside from the range limits of this mic it's mono. Generally you would want to mic things up and then mix them for your final song, and you generally want to record music in stereo, or multiple mics and mix it to stereo.

Best qualities of the Rode Videomic over the Videomic Go: Battery powered (better range), high pass filter, PAD switch (for reducing sensitivity on louder recordings). Not having a battery can be nice (using the GO), but the camera you use has to be able to power over the 1/8" mic input. The high pass filter and PAD switch are nice on the Videomic, but not always necessary. If you don't think you'll need them, then the Videomic GO is the way to go.

If you are all set and going to do that fine. If NOT, I may suggest an inexpensive preamp. It offers volume in dials at the point of sound input, you can adjust at will. True HDSLR shooters use high end separate recording devices by Tascam etc. I Do. But I found the Hammer and Anvil both 2 mono or 1 stereo,( this case), inputs, a M/S switch on front and semper are L R volume knobs, all you need is a 3.5 Stereo line,( I believe is included ), into the pc. The Comica Mounts to the preamp, and it mount to either a hotshoe, coldshoe stand, or adapter, or 1/4-20 std bolt. I got one for my nephew for $18.99, the identical Tascam version was $49, food for thought. Hope it helps.

It looks similar from the outside (although, the pro is quite a bit smaller), but has some much-needed upgrades like automatic power switching.
