Answer:	I've been using Melitta paper filters since before they even started selling unbleached brown ones (and the white ones were still bleached with chlorine-based bleach, obviously well-rinsed afterward) and frankly have never noticed any difference among those. As for the bamboo, I don't think there's any claimed functional advantage, the idea is probably that bamboo is supposed to be a more "environmentally-friendly" source of paper since many bamboo species grow faster than the trees used for pulp wood, but as is usually the case, I seriously doubt that's a clear benefit when you take into consideration all the factors involved, from growing the paper source on through to the final manufacture.

Answer:	I think that the amount that the paper would absorb is so small that it is insignificant compared to the ease of cleanup. As to being wasteful, I spread the grounds outside to deter ants and around plants and then put the filter in the recycling bin.

Answer:	No, it doesn't. I just bought this filter for my Canon 50 mm 1.8 and it doesn't fit. The chart provided by Jonathan shows the required filter is 52 mm. This one is 58 mm.

Answer:	It will work with any camera, you just need to use the adapter ring that fits the lens you are using. It's not a bad set, the only issue I have is the actual size of the filters and the mount shooting with wide angle lens. On my 28-70mm L lens at 28mm the mount that holds the filters is in the shot frame. This is due to the actual size of the filters they are not that big. Cokin filters can be purchased much larger 10cm x 15cm vs these which are 8cm x 10cm. Still not a bad starter set but if you wanting to shoot wider angle shots I would recommend some larger filters from Cokin or another manufacturer.

This UV Filter blocks the invisible Ultra Violet component of light from the sky, which can cause blur and to which many color films react with a blue cast. These filters should be called UV-Blocking Filters, because there are filters for technical applications that pass UV radiation and block all the other wavelengths. Nevertheless, the short term “UV Filter” has become established among photographers. UV Filters are ideal for photography in high altitudes (in the mountains), by the sea and in regions with very clean air. The pictures gain brilliance and disturbing blue casts are avoided. Because the glass is colorless, color rendition is not altered, aside from the elimination of the unwanted blue cast, and no increase in exposure is required. That makes a UV Filter very suitable as protection of the front element of the taking lens against dust, flying sand, sea water spray and the like, and it can be kept on the lens at all times. Answer:	I have a Fuji lens, and the lens cap still snaps on even with the filter in place. Your Sony cap should still work too.

Answer:	These filters fit well on a 40.5mm thread - I have use them on a Coolpix 7800.

Answer:	Lens diameter is the physical measurement of the diameter of the front-most part of the lens. The geometric symbol for diameter: ø. So, for example, if you see ø52 the lens has a diameter of 52mm, so you'd look for a 52mm filter. Or if you see ø77 it's a 77mm diameter. And so on. With DSLR lenses, it's often threaded to allow filters and lens hoods to screw in. it's usually easy to find out because it's often printed right there on the lens. It might not be easy to spot, because on some lenses it's etched into the plastic or metal and not easy to see, but there's a good chance it's there.

Answer:	generally you can stack filters of the same filter thread size but too many will degrade the image quality and possibly cause light falloff in the corners.

Answer:	If you're talking about the 18 - 55 lens that comes with the D3400 package, it's a 55 mm filter. The 70 - 300 lens takes a 58 mm filter.

Answer:	The camera body isn't what's important it's the size of the front of the lens that matters. Chances are you have an 18-55mm lens, that's the focal length, somewhere on the end of the lens on the outer ring you'll find a number next to the Greek letter theta, a 0 with a line through it, that's the number you need for purchasing lens add-ons.
