8 best call blockers
Call blockers are electronic devices or software applications designed to prevent unwanted or nuisance calls from reaching your telephone. These calls often include telemarketing calls, robocalls, and scam calls. Call blockers work by screening incoming calls and allowing you to block or filter out specific numbers or types of calls. Here are some key features and functions related to call blockers:
Caller ID Display: Call blockers often rely on Caller ID information to identify incoming calls. They display the caller's phone number or name on your telephone's screen, allowing you to see who is calling before answering.
Call Blocking: Call blockers provide the ability to block specific phone numbers or entire categories of calls. You can create a list of numbers to block, and calls from those numbers will not ring through to your phone.
Whitelist: In addition to blocking unwanted calls, call blockers typically offer a whitelist feature. This allows you to create a list of trusted contacts whose calls will always go through, even if they would otherwise be blocked.
Do Not Disturb Mode: Some call blockers have a "Do Not Disturb" mode that can be activated during specific times of the day or night. This prevents calls from ringing through during those times.
Robocall Detection: Advanced call blockers can detect robocalls and automatically block them. They use algorithms to analyze the call's characteristics and determine if it's likely to be a robocall.
Call Log: Call blockers often maintain a call log, recording information about all incoming and blocked calls. This log can be useful for reviewing which calls were blocked and when.
Community Blocklist: Some call blockers have a feature that allows users to contribute to a community blocklist. When one user blocks a number, that information can be shared with other users to help protect against the same nuisance calls.
Integration with Smartphones: There are also call-blocking apps available for smartphones that provide similar features, allowing you to block unwanted calls on your mobile device.
Manual and Automated Blocking: Call blockers can block calls manually based on your input or automatically based on predefined rules and algorithms.
Easy Setup: Many call blockers are user-friendly and easy to set up. They often come with clear instructions for installation and configuration.
Call blockers can be an effective tool for reducing the annoyance and disruption caused by unwanted calls. They help individuals take control of their incoming calls and enjoy a more peaceful and uninterrupted communication experience. Keep in mind that the specific features and capabilities of call blockers may vary depending on the brand and model you choose.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it compatible with att wireless system |
Answer: | I'm not sure what you mean by wireless. It doesn't work on cell phones. I own an AT&T cordless phone. To date the CPR V5000 call blocker has been working flawlessly. On the average, it has blocked about six calls per day. If there is a negative, I would say the only thing I wish it had was the ability to display blocked numbers as 000-000-0000 instead of 0000000000. I think hyphens would make it easier to see the blocked phone numbers. in addition, having a backlight in its display would make it easier to see it in the dark. All in all, I would Highly recommend this unit, made in the UK and not China, to anyone who gets nuisance phone calls. I rate it 5 out of 5 stars. |
Question: | Why can't 866-828-9088 be blocked? I have the area code and the 10-digit number listed on the blocker and my phone still rings |
Answer: | When manually blocking calls in the U.S the caller ID protocol is different everytime a number calls you.The number may come through as 866 828 9088, it may come through as 1 866 828 9088, or even 01866 828 9088 or finally 001 866 828 9088 so you need to input a 1, 01 and 001 before the number. It should then successfully block any call from that prefix. I've said this time and time before though, that ifyou just use the BLOCK NOW button on calls, that you won't get any problems or issues. It's perfectly normalfor this number to show as a missed call on your call log, but that doesn't neccessarily mean it's rung and got through.Scroll through the call blocker and check how many times each of these numbers have been blocked for piece of mind. |
Question: | If my first action is to block all telephone numbers within one exchange of one area code, do I have 1499 remaining numbers that I can block |
Answer: | Yes, you do. So for instance if you wanted to block ALL Jamaican (876) area codes with precedingexchanges you would only need to key in 876 as an area code block. but I would advise to input itwith a 1, 01 and 001 before it as sometimes overseas calls are spoofed with Country codes that candisplay differently on caller ID devices. So input them as follows...* * 7 # (beep) 876 # (beep)* * 7 # (beep) 1 876 # (beep)* * 7 # (beep) 01 876 # (beep)* * 7 # (beep) 001 876 # (beep) |
Question: | How much better does this work then previous model. What is the best dect phone that work with this thanks |
Answer: | This has improvements over the v.202 model by amended power in the unit to work with some VOIP providers that older call blockers wouldn't. It has 5000 numbers pre-programmed into the call blocker as opposed to 200 the v.202 had. It can also block 1500 numbers with the BLOCK NOW button instead of 1000 that previous call blocker models could do. So therefore, it has been improved but namely only the amount of pre-programmed numbers is the significant difference.I hope that helps?... |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will it work connected only connected to it's own phone jack. I want to place it in our TV viewing room, not where the phone is connected |
Answer: | It needs to be connected to the landline phone. You can check the connections here: http://help.panasonic.ca/viewing/ALL/KX-TGA710/OI/TGA710_PNQX8877ZA/TGA710_PNQX8877ZA.pdf#page=8 |
Question: | Will this work on regular (non-internet) land line phones that are not cordless, but with several corded phones plugged into different wall jacks |
Answer: | Yes, it will work. Just plug into one of the wall jack and to the cordless phone base. |
Question: | Can I block a number after I have hung up on the caller |
Answer: | Yes, you will have to go on the caller list, find the number then press the BLOCK CALL red button, and confirm your block by pressing the Menu/OK button to put the number into memory. |
Question: | Is it possible to turn off the caller id announcement which announces name or the number of callers so i do not have to listen to that |
Answer: | It can turn OFF by the following setting. Menu, select "Talking CID", OK, Select the desired setting, OK, Exit. |
Question: | Can you enter a number )from the phone) to unblock it. Or must you find it from a very large blocked list |
Answer: | If your caller's number is still in Call History, then just use the Unblock button on it when you see it. If it is not there then, you can easily delete that number with program control using Code 98 then that number then the * key. To access programming, just pick up the phone connected to the ProSeries blocker, dial # # and wait for the Beep, then dial 98 [the number] then * and you will hear two Beeps to let you know it is deleted. |
Question: | The manual says out of area calls are blocked. Does that mean all calls from outside my area code are blocked |
Answer: | NO. Out of Area just by itself is blocked. However, if you need all Out of Area calls to ring through then use the override command of Code 76. Callers from all area codes will ring through like normal because they will have person's real names and numbers, not Out of Area. Additionally, if they do, then you can use the Invite button to override that blocked number even from Out of Area. |
Question: | I have the original Digitone model -I’m getting the message that the block list is full. Is there a way to fix it or will this one do the same thing |
Answer: | You can enable Code 46 to start deleting really old numbers from the beginning of the block list. The automatic memory management will prevent you from running into Full issues again. Once you enable this method you can start blocking numbers again. Any numbers that continue to be harassing repeaters can just be entered into the non auto delete list with Code 40 [Number] * key which will never be deleted by Code 46. |
Question: | How many numbers can you manually block before it gets full, or older numbers are auto deleted |
Answer: | The ProSeries II will store 800 numbers, area codes, wildcard strings or any combination of these and auto delete older numbers on a continuous basis in Virtual Memory. However, if you manually code the numbers in with code 40, these entries will not be included in the auto delete function and remain stored. From our past customers' experience, it was noted that they had not yet 'filled' the blocked number storage in over 5 years. So 800 number allotment is more than enough to satisfy your yearly storage, particularly with the preloaded millions of known out of area and other numbers already blocked. |

User questions & answers
Question: | If you stay in the "Allow List" mode, will your phone ring once when it blocks a call |
Answer: | We use the allow mode and we do not pick up until after 2 complete rings and the start of the 3rd ring. So yes, sometimes the phone will ring once, rarely twice if a non allowed number so our rule is not to pickup until the 3rd ring. The device is very good overall. |
Question: | can you set a number to blocked via the phone? i.e. press 1 or 2 on the phone handset to block |
Answer: | B.O.B. You need to push "#" and then "2" from your phone to make this work. This can be mis-leading , you think they are trying to say "hit the number 2 to block call when they are saying hit the number sign and then the 2 to block a call. Hope this helps for this is truly a bueatiful piece of equipment when it is doing it's job !!!!! |
Question: | How is the list of 10,000 blocked numbers updated over time |
Answer: | That's no longer even a concern. The robo callers are now spoofing numbers in the user's area code, even the user's number. Existing "blocked number lists" are worthless. The Sentry 3.1 is the ONLY device now capable of addressing this nuisance. |
Question: | I get my phone serice via cable. only after i bought your model v5000 did i learn that it did not work on cable. is this another version of the same |
Answer: | I have Comcast phone service and my V5000 has been working fine for about 2 years now. In addition to the preprogrammed numbers I am up to 812 blocked nuisance/robo call numbers. Thank God for my V5000!! |
Question: | When a number is already on the whitelist and that number calls in again, does the Sentry ring in addition to my phone, or does only my phone ring |
Answer: | The short answer for the Sentry V3 is that only the phone rings and not the Sentry regardless of settings discussed below. To go a bit deeper into the topic, I do not want the Sentry to ring ever while it is doing its work. To aid in this, there are two options that can be activated. First the number of rings for a blocked call can be set to zero. (Push and hold the RINGER key until ALLOW 1 RING shows. Release and push again to change to 0 rings. Press DEL/EXT to save.) I keep mine set to 0. Second the Sentry ringer can be turned off. (Press and release the RINGER button. This will show the current setting for the ringer. Press and release the RINGER button to change. Press the DEL/EXT to save.) I keep mine set to OFF. I only have white list numbers set on my Sentry V3. With the above settings the unit works silently and has blocked several ROBO calls in silence. The white list numbers just come through as desired.BTW: I have VOIP with a VTECH phone and they seem to be compatible. I an running the full house telephone wiring through the Sentry after unplugging the connection to the outside wiring at the ATT box. I have also had a princes touchtone phone plugged and it worked fine in the mix. |
Question: | When entering a white list number can a name also be entered at the same time? I'd like to set this up using first names or nicknames only |
Answer: | Yes. The sequence is this. After screen is at "base - idle", Press and hold "accept" A dotted line will appear. Enter tel number. Press "accept" again. Then enter desired nick name. If error is spelling, tap delete key to erase backwards. When finished, press and hold accept key until word "saved" appears. If you fail to press and hold accept at the end, your entire entry will disappear. Then you can check white list to double check that it was not entered correctly, then delete that entry in the white list, and start again. I don't believe this nickname will appear when the person calls. It just appears in the white list. |
Question: | What is the difference between Sentry 3.0 and Sentry 3.1? I ordered 3.1 but received |
Answer: | I cannot give a technical reply but can give my own experiences. I first received the 3.0 model. It had volume problems and the outgoing message and the incoming messages were not audible. Plus the volume could not be adjusted. I contacted the company and arranged for a return and replacement. The replacement was the 3.1 model and I have had no problems with it. The arrangement of buttons is different and I think the 3.1 version is a little easier to use. You still cannot adjust the volume but the new machine is just fine. If you go to the Company website and check out the user manual it shows both versions, They appear to be technically identical but I am not sure that is the case. I suggest you call the company. They were easy to deal with in my experience. |
Question: | Does the Sentry 3 run of mains power, or a transformer, or the phone line, or is it battery powered? Many thanks |
Answer: | The Sentry 3 uses telephone line power as well as 3 AAA batteries to augment the line power. No AC adapter/power supply. I believe the memory is non-volatile so if you unplug it and remove the batteries, you won't lose your stored numbers but I'm not absolutely sure. Anyway, the batteries are there to augment available line power capacity for operational reliability e.g. if you have several telephone devices loading down the line when a call comes in the Sentry 3 won't momentarily blink out. (I'm using the Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries for good measure. Slightly higher natural voltage and significantly greater capacity, shelf life and load/drain life. I'm hoping to find that these will only need to be changed once a year at least and maybe even once every two years or more but we'll find out!) |

Product description
Do you hate it that even after installing a call blocker, you still get spam calls from unrecognized numbers? If you do, try SENTRY.
SENTRY works like a real sentry guarding your house phone. It recognizes the friendly numbers (White List) and let them in, it recognizes spammers (Black List) and hangs up on them. For unrecognized callers, it will perform 'Stop and Check’ which will let in the ‘good’ callers and drive away the ‘bad’ callers. This unique Active Blocking will block 100% robo junk calls and 99.9% of telemarketer/solicitor calls. All you need to do is to set up a White List, that includes your friends and family members, doctor offices, pharmacies, etc. Once you have the White List set up, SENTRY is fully automatic. There is no need to hit REJECT button anymore. You will no longer be bothered by those annoying telemarketer calls, not even one. And you don't need to do a thing! There is no need to hit REJECT button like most other call blockers. Worried about missing important first time calls? SENTRY allows first time callers to press 0 and ring the unit so you can pick up the call. By pressing 0 the caller's number is automatically saved to the White List.
If you are not ready for the Active Blocking, SENTRY can be used as a conventional call blocker with Black List. You can choose to have SENTRY to block based on Black List only. SENTRY has a Black List capacity of 1500.
Please watch SENTRY intro video for more details.

Question: | Versions 1 and 2 look alike. How does one tell the difference between these 2 units? Is there a model number or version # printed on the units |
Answer: | The photo on Amazon for the Version 2 is actually showing a Version 1 which adds to the confusion. There are three identifiable differences between the models. 1) Version 2 does not have the Sentry symbol before the Sentry label on the device. 2) Instead of the language labels under the VOICE button, version 2 has A/B/C/OFF. 3) When turning over the device, version 2 has a battery compartment while version 1 does not. |
Question: | Any products with - contacts go through, non contacts go to answering machine, blocked #'s get hung up on |
Answer: | I would also like such a new product. It could just trick the phone answering machine to answer with 10 fast rings or such. That would also say don't answer to me. I hope they create it soon, I have #1 and buying #2 and will buy your version when they make it. |
Question: | If a new caller presses zero will he be able to leave a message on my answering machine |
Answer: | Yes,surely,it can work. For since the new caller presses zero, their calls were added to white list forever. And at this time,if you don't pick up the message. Then caller can leave a message to your answering machine as normal. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does call control home block calls where no phone number shows up on caller id ? if it does, how does it do it |
Answer: | I have it set up that only numbers that are on my cell phone's contact list ring through to my house phones, anything else (including no numbers) goes to voicemail and doesn't ring the house phones. |
Question: | How difficult is it to unblock a call that you accidentally blocked |
Answer: | Not difficult at all! You simply open up the Call Control app, go to your Blocked Caller List, and remove the blocked number from the list. |
Question: | what are the cost |
Answer: | Hi there, there are NO on-going costs for this product. There has been some confusion by some customers who have misunderstood the costs associated with our mobile app. The mobile app is completely free to use and will work for your Call Control Home device perfectly with absolutely no costs. However, if you would like to upgrade to Premium Call Blocking for your MOBILE Phone, that is an option in the app. Whether you upgrade to premium call blocking for mobile or not, it will not impact the app's functionality with the CC Home unit and LANDLINE call blocking. Hope that helps :) |
Question: | Does it stop one ring calls? like where it rings and the caller hangs up before caller id is broadcasted? currently having that issue its annoying |
Answer: | Yes, one ring calls will be blocked on the phone connected to Call Control Home. Depending on the configuration of the phones in your home, other phones in the house that aren't connected to Call Control Home may still ring once though. You can email us [email protected] and we'd be happy to help you with your specific situation! |
Question: | Call blocker worked fine for a while. Now it does not allow cid information to appear on phone. What is causing this change |
Answer: | We bought this call blocker and it did not work correctly. I was blocking numbers that I needed. I would not recommend this Call Blocker!! |
Question: | Does it affect the caller id info that is displayed on your phone? a previous device showed a double listing for each call |
Answer: | The caller id on your phone will only show the unblocked numbers and numbers you may have blocked on the phone itself such as some vtechs. what the phone will block is limited. The call log on this device is a duplicate of what is on your phone since the call has to go through this blocker first. You then go down that log and block whatever numbers you choose. After that those numbers will never show on your phone again. |
Question: | What can you suggest, we have set it up but now we cannot get a dial tone and when we call we get a busy signal |
Answer: | Hi, Please connect the call blocker to your extension in parallel. Then turn on 1 ring on device. Press NO CID/BACK for 3 seconds, then use UP arrow to toggle 0 ring to 1 ring. Press BACK when down. |
Question: | How to hook up this blocker on my comcast landline |
Answer: | I didn't unplug landline from wall..I unplugged the wire (that ran from the phone jack on the wall to my landline phone) --from the phone. I inserted it into the right side jack on the call blocker. The short wire that came with the blocker, I inserted one end on the left side jack on call blocker and the other end in the jack on telephone that I had just re-routed to the blocker. |

User questions & answers
Question: | This device is pre-programmed to block voip numbers. how do i make it stop blocking them |

Question: | What Mcheeta Call Blocker is the newest latest system |
Answer: | CT-CID803 Plus is the newest system. |
Question: | How many phone numbers does it block |
Answer: | owners manual says up to 4000 groups (I think that means individual numbers) and a limit of 10 groups (that means a specific area code). So far I have 159 numbers blocked. It will tell you if you try to block a number already blocked it will say something like duplicate. It has cut down on my junk calls greatly. Not to bad to set up either. |
Question: | Please can someone correct the poor grammar in the product description |
Answer: | I purchased the least expensive model, which will store up to 4000 blocked numbers. You need to have caller I.D. for this device to work for you. I hooked it up the first way by just installing it in line with the phone, in other words remove the phone line from your phone in the area you would like the device to sit, plug the phone line into the call blocker and use the short cord provided between the call blocker and that phone- pretty easy. Unfortunately this hook-up method did not work for me BUT they provide instructions for for an alternate hook-up. For this you will need a splitter which is a small device that plugs into your phone wall jack and has TWO openings to plug phone cords in. You need to plug the phone cord into one opening on , the splitter and then run it to the phone, then run another phone cord to the call blocker from the other opening of the splitter. this seems confusing but they give you directions with illustrations which are easy to follow. you might need longer phone cords and of course the Splitter device.(Not Provided) This method worked fine for me, but try the first method first. You must block the call while the phone call is ENGAGED. To block the number as a nuisance call just hit the block button while the call is active. If you are on an extension away from the blocker device just hit the Star (*) button to block the call. They then go into the blocked number memory and are blocked from that point. They can be unblocked if you make a mistake and block a number you really want to have ring through. There are easy instructions to do this in the booklet provided. This device has cut down dramatically on the nuisance calls we receive and for me it's kind of fun to interrupt the callers speil and say" Excuse me, take me off your call list because I'm blocking your number now." Then hit the red button or star key and hang up! |
