Question:
what is the joules #________ of protection for the panamax mr
Answer:
C.L. is close, but the important factor determining capacity is amps. Residential outlets in the U.S. provide 15 or 20 amps of power - there are two types, so you'll need to figure out which yours is because some homes have both types. 20amps provides more power, so you'd usually find those going to kitchens or garages. Most home outlets are 15amps, though. The description doesn't say, so you'll need to check the APC website to find out whether this unit is 15 or 20. It's probably 15amps because 20amps units start at a higher price range usually. Keep in mind that more than one outlet is likely on that lie, so you need to make sure that the total of all devices plugged in to the APC (and the entire line) doesn't exceed 15 amps. This APC will tell you that information, but if you want to know before you buy, you'll need to power everything on and measure with an ampmeter, multimeter, etc.
Question:
Sure it has 8 outlet's, but how much A/V equipment can you reasonably plug into this
Answer:
No

Improve Your Picture and Sound Quality While Protecting Your Home Theater Investment
All the features you need to keep your system running clean and safe
Voltage Regulation
Regulates the output voltage on Banks 1-4 to 120 VAC ± 5 VAC. This is accomplished through two boost stages and one buck stage of voltage regulation. In Boost Stage 1 the voltage is boosted in the 109-119V range, while Boost Stage 2 boosts the voltage in the 100-109V range. The Buck Stage acts to reduce voltage in the 125-136V range. LiFT Technology EMI/RFI Noise Filtration : Your audio/video components are constantly being bombarded by electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) through their AC power source. This contaminated power can affect audio/video equipment and will degrade the overall performance of your entire system. Common symptoms of contaminated power include loss of picture detail, dull colors, pops, hisses, hums and visual artifacts.
Automatic Over and Under Voltage Protection (AVM)
Panamax's patent pending power monitoring circuitry constantly monitors the AC line voltage for unsafe voltage conditions such as momentary spikes or prolonged over-voltages and under-voltages (brownouts). These unsafe conditions pose a very dangerous threat to all electronic equipment within the home. If the MAX 5400-PM senses an unsafe power condition, it will automatically disconnect your equipment from the power to protect equipment from damage.Once the voltage returns to a safe level, the M5400-PM will automatically reconnect the power. When subjected to a 6,000V (open circuit voltage) / 500A (short circuit current) surge, the M5400-PM limits its voltage output to less than 330V peak, UL's best rating. If the magnitude of the surge is greater than the capacity of the surge protection components, the M5400-PM's Protect or Disconnect Circuitry will disconnect your equipment in order to protect it. The M5400-PM will need to be repaired or replaced by Panamax if this occurs within the product’s 3 year warranty.
Five Isolated Outlet Banks
The M5400-PM is designed to provide noise isolation between the outlet banks so that any noise created by A/V components plugged into the M5400-PM cannot contaminate the power going to equipment plugged into the other outlet banks of the M5400-PM.
Sequential Startup/Shutdown
Complex audio/video systems may be susceptible to voltage transients generated internally at start-up/shutdown if all of the equipment is powered on or off at the same time. This can cause speaker "thumps" which are not only annoying but can also damage the speakers and/or trip product circuit breakers. The M5400-PM is designed to eliminate these transients by providing a "start-up" delay for the High-Current outlets and a "shutdown" delay for the Switched Outlet Banks. This minimizes in-rush current issues by allowing the components plugged into the Switched Outlet Banks to power-up and stabilize before any amplifiers and powered sub-woofers are turned on. This sequence is reversed during shutdown. The amplifiers and powered subwoofers turn off, their power supplies drain, and then the equipment plugged into the Switched Outlet Banks are turned off.
USB Charger, LAN, and Gaming Ports
The M5400-PM features a front panel convenience charger for mp3 players, cell phones, video game controllers, and other small electronics. (NOTE: Some devices may not be compatible with this USB charger.) Add to this an easy-to-access LAN port pass-thru from the rear panel to the front panel for online gaming and a convenience outlet located on the front panel, perfect for gaming systems and other electronics.

User questions & answers
Question:
i live in italy but is possibile connection paramax whit converter to 120v at 220v Thanks
Answer:
So many ignorant "answers" to these questions without a clue how electricity works... There is absolutely nothing unsafe about daisy-chaining power strips and surge protectors. Multiple surge protectors are not going to magically overload a circuit. If each thing your plug in is 80 watts maximum, there's no reason to not daisy-chain another so you have e.g. 19 plugs instead of 10. A single up-to-modern-code 120v socket gives you a nominal 1875 watts.
Question:
Can this be used in India with a 50HZ cycle but with a step down transformer from 220v 120volts
Answer:
From your description, I would be more concerned about how much of a load the wall socket can handle without tripping a breaker. You have a lot a lot of high power consumption devices. A normal household electric circuit with a 15 AMP breaker is good for 1,800 Watts total to all the outlets and devices on that circuit. That would leave only 800 Watts available for your three monitors and sound system. While it is unlikely all of your devices will be operating at full power at the same time, for safety and planning you should base your planning on that eventuality.
Question:
So as far as Satellite, do you run the coax from the wall into the Panamax, then another coax from the Panamax to the satellite receiver
Answer:
"Clamping Voltage" is different than "Let Through Voltage". (I can't explain the difference, I just know from my own equipment that Tripp-Lite publishes both spec.) Typical clamping voltage on good surge suppressors are 140-150 V RMS with a Let Through Voltage of 300-400 V.
Question:
I have a panamax max5300 bought in 2004. can i use it with a new oled tv
Answer:
According to some of the reviews, this will only work for up to 100Mbit Ethernet, not Gigabit. But if you're using this to protect a cable modem (coax in from wall and out to modem, Ethernet in from modem and out to router), then you shouldn't need anything more than 100Mbit protection.

Question:
Can i use the m8-av model for a 40" plasma or led tv
Answer:
I had the same issue. The sub needs to be on the ground and the speakers must be at a high level than the sub. This will make the sound go away.
Question:
Would this be sufficient for a two-channel audio system (100w/channel) with two 400-500w subwoofers, a tv, and a ps3? mainly concerned about the subs
Answer:
No the unit is not wireless.
Question:
Does the high current outlets on m8-av pro work without 12 volt trigger
Answer:
okay so the best way to find out where to place a sub is kinda silly but it works. place the sub where you will be sitting. then go to the corners of the room or locations where you might place the sub. where it is the loudest place it there.
what is the let through rating on this surge protector
Answer:
Electrical Rating: 15A, 1800 Watt; Voltage protection rating L-N 400V, L-G 400V, N-G 400V. Type 3 SPD. I like it because of the extra long cord!
Question:
Anyone know what amount of current will pop the breaker on this? I assume 15 amps can't seem to confirm that
Answer:
I have tested it with a 600 Watts Oster Blender and a Bosch driller at the same time, because I had to cut the power plug, for use a Neutrik NAC3FC-HC PowerCon, and it doesn't pop, or be hot, It is made to be reliable so it was made like a main power strip, I also connect it a 1600w vacuum cleaner and not a problem
Question:
What are it's electronic specs (i.e. clamping voltage, energy dissipation, and response time)? I'm looking for something for musical equipment
Answer:
Clamping Voltage = 400V. Surge Rating = 540 joules. Response Time = n/a. (Strangely, the response time is not available on the product website. I don't know if it means that it's a problem.) I would look elsewhere. There are a lot of other surge protectors that sell for less and provide better protection. It has a normal clamping voltage but its surge rating is low. So, it's going to stop working much earlier than other surge protectors. And, it's not like this really smooths out the line noise as it filters out only 20db (which is much lower than other devices). Frankly, I don't know why people would buy this, especially at this price ($30) and why it has a high rating. I guess the unit looks sturdy and looks like a heavy duty piece of equipment but it really isn't. The company is tricking you.
Question:
Is this a surge protector or just a power strip? Not used to buying something without a Joules rating. Help! Need for my whole TV setup
Answer:
It provides 540 Joules protection as well as EMI and RFI protection.. Furman is one of the best names in power conditioning for MUSICAL equipment. That should definitely be considered. I’ve used this brand for decades with zero problems. I’m currently using an M8lx conditioner and one of these branching off of it for added protection of a Gibson guitar/Marshall amp setup with numerous add-on equipment (pedals/PA amps etc.)

Question:
Is the power cable a flat plug
Answer:
Mine is the same sort of flat, angled 3 prong plug that H. Gajjar, Scott C. and Christian Moreland have.
Question:
Anyone using this for high end headphone amps and dacs? Thoughts
Answer:
I am using this with a system of individual components: amp, preamp, CD player, tuner, turntable, DAC, and wifi receiver. I've had it about two years and it works flawlessly, but what I like best is that it sequences start-up and shut down so I always get everything in the order that protects the equipment. Plus it does offer spike protection. I'm not sure what you mean by high end, but my system cost ~$10000 without adding speakers. In short, I'd buy the G5BLK again.
Question:
Is this a good unit to protect home theaters, flat panel tv 80"? Does it condition and protect surges
Answer:
I purchased this unit for my home theater system and, yes, it will protect connected equipment against power spikes/surges up to 3400 joules of energy and also provides filtering/isolation to reduce audio/video noise. 3 of the 9 outlets are always on, which is ideal for connecting networking devices like cable modems, wireless routers and network switches. The other 6 outlets can be turned on and off using the main power switch on the front. We turn ours off at night to reduce "vampire" power draw when the home theater components are not being used. When the power button is pushed the outlets are automatically powered on (or off) in sequence to reduce power spikes cause by in-rush currents when multiple devices turn on or off at the same time. Note that you need to hold the power button a couple of seconds for it to turn off, so an accidental quick push doesn't do it. It also has a convenient outlet on the front. It's a bit expensive, but worth it to protect your even more expensive home theater equipment. Hope this helps.
Question:
Does this come with the rack mounts - they are not pictured
Answer:
Yes, it comes with rack mount brackets, and feet. You can see a picture of the rack attachment brackets on the APC web site at http://www.apc.com/shop/us/en/products/APC-AV-15-Amp-G-Type-Rack-Power-Filter-120V/P-G5BLK. The product installation manual is also available at the same site and also shows the brackets. I bought this unit a few years ago and just checked the original box, since I didn't use them, and the were not there, but the box does say they are included. So, my confidence is high that brackets are included.

Question:
Pure sine wave
Answer:
No. The LCnn00 will only condition VOLTAGE level (increase/decrease) over a nominal level. To reduce line NOISE you should look for the "Isolation Transformer-Based Power Conditioner - Superior line noise reduction and spike suppression" models (IS250 as an example). Be sure to get the capacity required for your needs.
Question:
What is the width, not counting mounting brackets
Answer:
David, This is not a true AVR in my opinion, it is a step voltage device that boosts the power by way of transformers that are dependent on the voltage it's getting from the wall. I had a customer with intermittently low voltage and it does not regulate to steady voltage. You can't expect this device to provide constant voltage if your drawing higher than expected amps on the circuit. If your UPS is shutting down, your probably pulling to much power for that device and a AVR will not resolve that. You didn't mention what your total wattage draw was or what the amp rating on the circuit your using or if you have a low voltage condition and all of these things figure in to your situation. I ended up getting a true AVR (low AC voltage to DC to Stable AC again at a constant 120 volts) Triplight I think it was and all that really does is provide constant, clean 120 volts AC. So don't know if this is really what you need.
Question:
how many jules is the Conditioner
Answer:
The LC1800 is designed to provide surge protection and provide a steady 120 vac power to connected equipment. It is not designed to smooth out square waves. We have other products in our offering however that may be a better fit for your application. Question:
How much does this unit heat up? I want to put in under the receiver due to space constraints, and have no real way to cool it
Answer:
The unit does not heat up in any significant way. You would be fine putting it under a receiver.
Question:
In terms of noise filtering, which one is better? PST-8 or Elite 15i
Answer:
I cannot answer about the PST-8, but I am happy with my Elite 15i. Utilized for 4 months with no problems! Lots of bad weather, to include a few power outages, a i feel very protected. More so that the MonsterPower conditioners I used to use. A well made machine! Noticed a better, clearer picture using the Elite-15i.
Question:
do any of these have the power transformer ? like my old APC H
Answer:
I don't know. My recommendation would be to contact Firman Electronics. I have found their customer service to be great. I can't give you the address, but Google Firman Electronics.
Question:
Is there a "master" on/off switch (on the front) that will allow any unit plugged in, to be turned off/on
Answer:
There is one master switch on the front of the unit. Individual plugs would have to be either unplugged or turned off at the plugged in unit. You might note that this unit is more suited for home theater and not individual stereo components. However, it does work great with stereo components.

From the Manufacturer
Designed for Today's High Definition Technology The High Definition Power Center HDP 1800 is a bold combination of design, advanced engineering, and convenient functionality. This new PowerCenter design delivers the advanced protection and performance that home theater enthusiasts expect.
Prevent Thousands of Dollars in Damage to Your Sensitive Home Theater Electronics Common power surges, spikes and dips can occur multiple times a day and can easily damage or destroy the delicate digital circuitry in your home theater electronics. However, many ordinary surge protectors only use MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) with a limited surge absorption capacity, rated in Joules. If a surge's power exceeds the Joule capacity, any connected equipment is left vulnerable to surge damage.
The HDP 1800 gives your delicate HDTV and digital AV electronics the advanced protection they need. For a triple layer of safety, the HDP 1800 protects against power surges and spikes on all three power lines (line, neutral, ground). With over 5526 Joules of surge absorption capacity, the HDP 1800 provides a very high level of protection.
Microprocessor-Controlled T2 Circuitry Takes Protection a Step Further T2 automatically disconnects the PowerCenter itself and your equipment from both live power lines (line and neutral), and reconnects ONLY when power levels are safe. Unlike other surge protectors, T2 will NOT sacrifice itself when a potentially damaging power overload hits, and keeps on protecting with no reduction in performance.
Monster Tri-Mode Provides Advanced Surge Protection and Safety Patented Tri-Mode circuitry uses relays, MOVs, and thermal fuses to protect against dangerous power surges, dips and spikes that can travel over all three power lines (Line, Neutral, Ground). When it senses dangerous power conditions, Tri-Mode automatically disconnects AV components and sounds an audible alarm, letting you know that HDP 1800 has protected your AV components.
Protection for All of Your Home Theater Connections All of your home theater's connections need to be protected, or the entire system is vulnerable to damage. Dangerous power surges and spikes can travel through cable, satellite, and telephone lines and severely damage or even destroy your equipment. The HDP 1800 features comprehensive surge protection on coax, network, and phone connections for complete satellite, antenna, DVR, and cable TV line protection.
It's a Fact, Electrical Power is Full of Performance Degrading Noise and Interference Cell phones, TVs, appliances, and other electronics all generate noise and interference that pollute your home's electricity. This "dirty power" can degrade picture and sound performance. Dirty power can also stress the delicate digital circuitry inside HDTVs and other home theater components, potentially shortening their life. However, ordinary surge protectors can't remove the effects of dirty power.
Patented Monster HD Clean Power Stage 2 for Better Picture and Sound The HDP 1800 features advanced Monster Clean Power HD Stage 2 filtration that's precision-engineered to remove the effects of dirty power for better picture and sound. In addition, by minimizing noise and interference, HD Clean Power filtration reduces unnecessary wear to the sensitive digital circuitry in today's high definition home theater components.
Additonally, the HDP 1800 has groundloop isolation on cable connections to reduce noise and interference that can affect your HDTV's picture.
Convenient Features and Striking Design The HDP 1800 is also PLC (power line communications) compatible, allowing you to set up a home AV network using existing AC power lines. There's no need to run cables inside walls or along molding.
The HDP 1800 High Definition Power Center wraps all this advanced functionality in a compact, ultra-sleek silver chassis with a new butterfly style faceplate design.
Our Monsterous Guarantee We're Monsterously confident about the HDP 1800's advanced power protection, which is why we'll replace up to $350,000 worth of your equipment if it's damaged by power conditions. With Monster Power on your side, you'll have the extra peace of mind that your valuable home theater equipment is covered.

User questions & answers
Question:
Does this Surge Protector have a Built in Circuit Breaker
Answer:
Ours is a regular 120v. outlet plug. Surge protector with heavy duty cord for use with various small appliance including electronic ones, computers, printers, etc. with a telephone outlet.
Question:
Does this wall mount unit have a screw to keep it securely plugged in
Answer:
I just received this product, and the plug is a flat, slightly angled to the right, but not rotating. Disappointing as I had come to really enjoy the rotating plug heads, but at least the slightly askew plug doesn't interfere with others. I have enough rotating head plugs, that if I do have a space problem I can swap them out. Even though this is apparently a variation, the design is exactly what you're seeing here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002QPW9J2
Question:
What is the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) rating of this product? Is it listed as a transient voltage surge suppressor
Answer:
Hi. This unit has 330V clamping voltage.
Question:
How does the $300,000 dollar warranty work
Answer:
It plugs in flush to the outlet, rather than sticking out like most plugs. With the ground prong on the bottom, the cord drops down at about a 45 degree angle. The plug is a circle w/a diameter of about 1 3/8". It's about 3/4" thick.
