Yes, you do because the switch comes with built-in female connectors for the 2 inputs and the 1 output. I've had different results with this switch based on what I've connected to it. It worked as expected when I connected 2 satellite receivers through it to the TV. However, when I connected two computers through it to the TV, I got a recurring flicker. I learned the switch caused this problem after testing multiple cables and 2 identical switches of this type. Hope this helps.

Answer:	If you mean lag when switching from one device to another, yes there is lag of a second or two before the new device shows on my screen. I don't consider this a glaring problem, and the last HDMI switch I had did that also. If you mean lag as in there is delay between what you're doing on the device (like playing a game) and when it shows on the screen, there is none.
