Answer: I don't really know what eyelids are in regards to washcloths. If you mean loose strands, the answer is no, not yet. I have had no problems,no loose loops and NO staining like bamboo toweling. These are nice and thick. I love them.

Answer: These towels are wonderful, but you must wash them at least once before using. After you have removed most of the "fluff" that all new towels have, you will love them. Never use commercial softeners..they leave residue. We love these, but I will say that the quality control was a little lacking. After washing for the first time, I did need to do a bit of trimming of long threads. I would buy these again.
