User questions & answers
Question: | Do these work well in a philips cd-785 recorder? are they compatible with hp & dell computer dvd/cd drives |
Answer: | The latest batches failed OPC on both of my Philips CDR 765s and a CDR 870, and were rejected on a JVC XL-R5000 before it even tried running OPC. I have had batches of these that worked on the Philips recorders, but most do not. Later Philips machines might have a better chance, but I also got failures in a CDR 778. |
Question: | can I copy pictures on these disk |
Answer: | They are intended for stand-alone CD audio recorders, but should work on most computers, where they can be used for the same purposes as a data CD-R, including copying pictures. Note that the maximum rated burn speed is 40X, while most data CD-Rs are rated 48X or 52X. |
Question: | What is the color of the recording (bottom) surface? Silver, or something else? Looking for blue |
Answer: | The recording bottom is silver! |
Question: | Whats the difference between music cds and data cds |
Answer: | Music blank CDs are exclusively for recording music type programs and can be used on a Computer or Home Recording device . Data CDs are exclusively used on Computers. Music CDs are distinguished by the "Compact Disc" logo and "Recordable" on the discs; Data CDs are distinguished by the "Compact Disc" logo ONLY . This is the best way to tell them apart, unless the manufacturer adds some more detailed info on the packaging ; the major makers usually do , but some others don't . |

Verbatim CD/DVD Color Slim Jewel Cases
Verbatim's color Slim Cases prevent your CDs and DVDs from being scratched or broken during transport. Verbatim's Slim Cases come in an assortment of colors - blue, green, orange, purple, and pink - so users can color-code your data, music, movies and more.
Organize your optical content
Slim jewel cases are about half the thickness of standard jewel cases. This comes in handy when you have limited space and/or need to archive an extensive library of music, movies, or files. Cases come in various colors, which allow you to color-code your content, and clear front lids allow quick recognition of the artwork and discs.
Superior storage
Paper sleeves can expose discs to air and humidity, while plastic cases are more durable. Plus, the trays’ interlocking teeth secure discs in place, so when you transport your discs, you don’t have to worry about them sliding out of the package.
Personalization
With half the depth but the same height and width as standard jewel cases, slim cases let you create a customized sheet of album art. Just slide the artwork into the half-moon tabs on the front lid, which will hold the sheet in place.
Slim Cases
Slim cases have two pieces: the lid and back cover, into which the tray is built. They measure 5.59 inch (width) × 4.92 inch (height) × 0.2 inch (depth). They have enough space under the half-moon tabs for a sheet of customized album artwork. They also come in a variety of shades, and let users store twice as many discs in the same amount of space as jewel cases.
Jewel Cases
Jewel cases are the traditional option. They have three pieces – the lid, back cover, and media tray. When assembled, a case measures 5.59 inch (width) x 4.92 inch (height) x 0.39 inch (depth). The front lid is clear and designed to hold booklets, which contain lyric sheets, liner notes, and more. The media tray is commonly black and removable, so a thin card may be inserted behind it to display things like copyrights and track listings.

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the country of origin regarding the manufacturer of these discs |
Answer: | The discs are made in Taiwan by CMC Magnetics, who has made them for many years and now owns the brand. |
Question: | Can you put essays on it |
Answer: | You can write data files onto the disc (i.e. doc or text files) as well as any computer files or record music but not both |
Question: | Will the music burned on these play on an ordinary cd player/changer |
Answer: | Yes, I have not had any problems playing cd music or mp3 music disc burned onto these disc. My DVD/CD burner burns these disc at 40X with never a failure. |
Question: | Is it erasable? I mean, can overwrite what I have previously recorded? If the answer is yes, will it affect the quality of the second recording |
Answer: | This is an old question with old answers. YES you can edit your content (at least on Windows 10). When you first insert the CD into your drive, you will be prompted to either use it as a USB or CD. If you select USB you can edit (add/modify/delete) files. As a test, I saved an MP4 file and a text file then deleted the text file. No problem. I also added a text file then modified its' contents and resaved the text file (same file name). No problem. The other bonus is that the MP4 was read and played off of this disk. Just like I would expect (as if it was on a USB stick). There should be no degradation in performance, but all media (hard disks, solid state (drives, memory, USB) have write limits. You can only write to a disk so many times. |

Verbatim External Slimline CD/DVD Writer
Though CDs and DVDs are still among the most commonly used media types, more and more computer manufacturers are choosing to leave optical drives out of their new models. If you still use these media types, or even newer optical media types such as Blu-ray discs or M-Discs, you may find yourself in the position of needing to buy a separate optical drive, and there are several things to consider.
Internal vs. External
Optical drives can either be internal or external, and it’s an important choice when deciding which optical drive to buy. Internal drives are actually placed inside your computer, connected via an IDE or SATA port. Internal drives are usually more affordable and have higher read/write speeds. However, installation can be difficult and for some laptops, impossible, given the ultra-slim profile of some newer models.
External drives, on the other hand, exist outside of your computer and connect to your computer via a USB or FireWire port. They can either pull power from your computer itself or from a separate power outlet. Typically, they are more compact, more portable, and can fit easily into a laptop bag. However, due to external connectivity, they may have slightly lower read/write speeds compared to internal drives.
Formats
Another important factor in deciding which drive to buy is the format you want to work in. Today most drives work with multiple formats, but it is still important to make sure the drive you’re buying is compatible with the media types you want to use. Some common formats most drives now support are DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW, CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD-ROM. Some less common formats include DVD-RAM, DVD+R/DVD-R Dual Layer and miniDVD. If you’d like to work with Blu-ray discs, make sure you get a drive that is Blu-ray compatible. Generally, if you’re unsure what media type you’ll be working with, choosing a drive that works with multiple media types may be your best option.
System Compatibility
With the prevalence of drives, finding one that is compatible with your operating system is less of a challenge than it has been. However, it is still important to make sure they are compatible, both with the hardware and software. If you choose to get an external drive, it will connect to your computer one of two ways: a USB port or FireWire port. While most computers will have at least one USB port, some newer models do not come with a FireWire port. You’ll also want to make sure you have enough USB ports to support your drive. Software-wise, some drives come with additional software, such as writing software; make sure it is compatible with your operating system as well.
Tray vs. Slot Loading
How a drive actually loads the disc may be another factor to consider. Typically there are two different loading styles: tray and slot. Tray loading is your typical DVD player style; you push a button, the tray ejects, you place the disc into the tray, and the tray goes back in. Drives with tray loading have the advantage of accommodating irregular sized discs (such as miniDVD), and feature a manual eject button, in case the disc fails. Slot loading is the newer style of disc loading; there is a slot on the drive in which you insert the disc without a tray – similar to your car CD player. Slot loading drives have fewer moving parts, and allow for a slim drive form factor, however, they may not recognize irregular shaped discs, so formats like miniDVD may not be supported.
M DISC Compatibility
Unlike traditional optical discs, which use dyes that break down over time, data stored on an M DISC is engraved on a patented inorganic write layer – it will not fade or deteriorate. This unique engraving process renders these archival grade discs practically impervious to environmental exposure, including light, temperature and humidity.* ISO/IEC 16963 longevity tests have proven the durability of M DISC technology, and it withstood rigorous testing by the US Department of Defense. Based on this testing, M DISC media has a projected lifetime of several hundred years.**
*U.S. Department Of Defense Longevity Test Summary
Storage Capacity
Verbatim M DISC media has storage capacities up to 100GB. M DISC BD-R media is compatible with the latest Blu-ray hardware from leading manufacturers – no special drives required for recording or playback. However, if you want to use M DISC DVD for archiving, you need to select a drive that is M DISC compatible.

User questions & answers
Question: | does it work with cd game roms and isos such as sega cd or ps1 games |
Answer: | Not sure about games. I used mine for back up of pictures and music. |
Question: | Does anyone know if i can I burn a powerpoint presentation onto a CD-RW? Or do I need a different kind of disc |
Answer: | You should be able to burn any type of file onto a CD-RW, as long as the file size doesn't surpass the CD size (700 MB). Honestly I feel like it would be easier to just save your .ppt to a USB thumb drive, but if all you have available is a CD-RW, then go for it. :) |
Question: | what is the difference between cd-r and cd-rw discs? which 1 do I need to if I want to burn photos, then add more without erasing 1st set of photos |
Answer: | CD-RW would be your best choice because those are rewritable. With the CD-R, you can only burn files onto the disc once. CD-RW allows you to burn files, and then add more later. However, if two files share the same name, one will overwrite the other, so be sure every file has a different name. You can also erase the entire disc multiple times, though eventually the disc will wear out. |
Question: | Sorry, not technology savvy. Can these be used to record music files multiple times on one disc |
Answer: | WMA and MP3s can be recorded on these discs multiple times. But, if you close or finalize your session then no additional files can be added at a later session. Once these discs are finalized then they have to be erased in order to use them again. |

Why Verbatim
Verbatim has been trusted for over 50 years to provide reliable and affordable data storage products and is the leading brand of optical media sold today.
Verbatim prides itself on producing optical media compatible with more drive manufacturers than any other brand in the world, giving our customers better disc burns at rated drive speeds.
Backup v. Archive
The difference between backing-up your data and archiving your data is subtle, but important. Backing-up data is usually done on a daily or weekly basis, to account for any edits or additions you have made. Archiving is a more permanent solution – ideally, you archive data a few times a year and it remains safe for years to come.
Optical media is the ideal media for archiving. It is durable enough to last for years and takes up less physical storage space. The random access file retrieval makes finding data faster and easier. And with better backwards compatibility, data stored on optical media can be accessed for many years to come.

User questions & answers
Question: | can I burn karaoke files to these discs |
Answer: | I'm not sure I can tell. Blue or green is not the predominant color; silver is. There may be an overtone of dark blue but I am not sure that it isn't the light. When looked at from the edge or slightly off-edge, the color is much more definitely a bluish green. I can say that I started using these in volume (about 2000) about 2 years ago and all still work perfectly. Once, I mistakenly ordered non-Azo and did not have the same success; several actually had the recording layer crinkle and split. I am using the Azos for music so it's easy to tell when there is a failure happening. |
Question: | where are these discs made |
Answer: | From all the research I have done (and I have done a lot for quite a while), it is not the recording quality, but the longevity of the recording that you are making. The AZO dye is supposed to be "archival quality". I have some very old cdr's that still work very well, and I have some supposedly "quality" DVD-R's that won't play at all. If you are making backups of your photos or home movies, I would suggest a minimum of two copies and a copy on a external HD. If your files are unreadable, your memories are lost. So far I have had very good success with Verbatim both AZO and regular. |
Question: | Are these a dark blue or a dark green on the bottom, recordable side |
Answer: | Yes, this cable will fit for Panasonic pv-l352d model. |
Question: | Is there a significant difference in recording quality between these and the regular Verbatim CD-R. Where does the difference come in |
Answer: | Yes, this cord is compatible with Panasonic pv-l354 camcorder. |

User questions & answers
Question: | When I combine this item in my order and it is over $49, I am being charged for shipping. Why is that |
Answer: | I never have that problem when ordering from (PRIME) Amazon |
Question: | it seemed as though i was burning 76 songs on the disc but when i played it in my car, only 53 were recorded. could someone explain what happened |
Answer: | your burning MP3's not audio CD's and car players are real iffy about playing MP3's. Try it in one of your friends newer or more expensive car and see what you get. |
Question: | Are these good to burn music |
Answer: | Yes, they are for music. I recently found out, however, that we shouldn't use the re-writable for making albums to sell. |
Question: | When my husband plays the cd on his computer, a bunch of m4p files don't play and the car only plays a few.will anyone get to hear all songs i burned |
Answer: | I don't know much about m4p files, but the issues you're having wouldn't have anything to do with the Verbatim blanks. I found this on the 'net, which is probably your problem - "iTunes M4P is an encoded audio file format which limits the number of computers that can share a given file. ... If you pay for iTunes Plus, you can convert existing protected files to less restrictive files. ... Alternately, try burning the songs to a CD and re-importing them as MP3 files ... " |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the clear window simply a "cutout" window or is it a plastic window |
Answer: | Depends on the laser printer model. If it's a top feed then probably. Bottom feed wouldn't work. |
Question: | Are these made in china |
Answer: | Sorry but there is no reference to paper thickness on the packaging. It's about as thick as regular copy paper. |
Question: | Are these safe to put through a laser printer |
Answer: | I take that you are asking if you can burn .KFN files, with lyrics and midi, as a data CD. You can do this. But you must know the exact conditions and requirements your equipment demands on how this should be done: type of filesystems (UDF, ISO9660, Joliet) and other restrictions your player should have. Please refer to the manual of the equipment you are going to use this. |
Question: | How many grams of paper per sleeve? (thickness quality |
Answer: | The package says made in China. Nevertheless, these are simply the best for music recordings. I have many hundreds recorded up to 6 years ago that are working fine. Others including a Verbatim set of 100 that is packaged like the AZO ones but lacks that word have failed at a low but annoying rate. Memorex is terrible with a high failure rate over time. Music recording is very demanding. |
