Question:	im trying to make my own test leads for different applications, will these work/fit with a voltmeter
Answer:	Depends. It should fit as the multimeters use standard banana plug socket innerds, but for years commercial test leads have no longer used bare plugs because of the hazards associated with accidental contact which would be shockingly dangerous if working with high voltage (yes, these meters are routinely used in high voltage electrical applications - my meter carries a CAT III rating for use with 1000V, CAT IV for 600 V). BUT, I mainly use my meter on ham radio stuff and sometimes on cars - all low voltage DC applications.I just ordered these to make a current (amperage) test rig with Anderson Power Pole sockets. Again, I stress that I am working with voltage running significantly less than 30V (sometimes 24 V systems in aviation or other automotive systems), but I will wrap the plug bodies in heat shrink insulation to minimize likelihood of contact.

Answer:	I use 12 gauge on my fronts and 14 on my surrounds with no issues. The 12 gauge was a little difficult to get wrapped back around and then screw down, but I really don't know of any banana plug that would we easier, without going to the kind where they use a screw to fasten. This is the easier, cleaner look in my opinion!

Answer:	As PCKIDZ replied, this is a two function connector.The banana plugs are pushed into the hole in the end.If you unscrew the barrel which is knurled, the smaller shaft is exposed, where you can slip on your spade lug and then tighten the knurled shaft to secure the lug.

Answer:	When new, the plugs are somewhat of a tight fit. Hold the AVR and push firmly. They will fit.

Answer:	I tried it on a flip style and they were too big. The measurement of the plug is 0.15" or 3.85mm at the tip, at the widest 0.20" or 5.3mm. Your flip connectors may be larger than my example, a quick msr of the max gauge wire you can use will answer.

Answer:	I have a High-End Denon and these plugs work just fine. They have a nice heft to them. You'll see. I was pleasantly surprised when I recieved them. A special note: I dont know what gauge wire you are planning on using. I bought 8 awg wire and it barely fits in these plugs. 12 awg or smaller will give you ZERO problems. Don't sweat the petty reviews. I assure you these bad boys are WELL WORTH THE MONEY!

The flyer that comes in the box doesn't state the make up of the base material, however I can say it is very heavy for it's size and if I had to guess I'd say it is brass. Answer:	Depends on which type of "push-in" connector you mean... there's the (square) "spring terminal" connector that is most common in speakers and has a small hole for inserting the cable, and there's also the newer (circular) "push-in binding post" that will accept either the banana plug or the bare cable.

Answer:	You can't replace RCA plugs with banana plugs. Two different animals. RCA carries the signal in the center plug and ground on the outer portion. Banana plugs are just one connection, not two.

Again they fit pretty snug into the banana plug receptacles on the amp and they are far enough apart I'm not worried about them getting shorted. Answer:	I do not know what a "go box" is.
Question:	When you disconnect the plugs, isn't it easy to short them by touching each other? looks like the whole piece is the same conductor
Answer:	If I understand your question correctly, once the plugs are disconnected from the receiver,there is no signal going through them, therefore no danger of short. You shouldn't be connecting or disconnecting the speakers with the unit on. Actually more likely to short out trying to install using bare wire connections instead of banana clips. The clips cover the bare wire so no chance of a stray strand or two shorting across the back of your component.
Question:	I have used open screw plugs for years; are there any substantial advantages to the closed screw type
Answer:	The big advantage is when installed correctly, you won't have any chance of stray wires sticking out. So then less chance of shorting the wires. On 14 gauge and smaller wire, it shouldn't be that hard to do to install correctly, easily. On 12 gauge wire, the maximum recommended for the monoprice plugs, the insulation doesn't fit very well into the body of the plug, so you just have to strip more insulation off to get it to go easier.One possible downside to them is that the wires stick straight out the back instead of coming out of the side. If you have wall mount speakers with a narrow clearance, that could be an issue. But you could get the open screw style to fix that. At the receiver, it was beneficial to me.

Answer:	First I unscrew the banana connector, splice the wire and stick the open wire through the hole and fold it over the threading, then I screw the banana connector back together. I use two pairs of vise grips as it gets a little tough screwing them back together by hand since the wire catches the threads on the banana connectors. Hope this helped

Answer:	No. These are intended to plug into female banana jacks. The contact on these is internal to the jack, while RCA female jacks have a center conductor and an external ring conductor.

Question:	Can you solder the wires to these connectors
Answer:	If the wire is on metal I see no reason why you couldn't. Make sure to not mess up the treaded portion. There might be better plugs out there for soldering.
Question:	How easy is it to install 12 AWG wires on these plugs
Answer:	I use 12 AWG wire and it wasn’t a problem.
Question:	Can you use these on a subwoofer
Answer:	Most contemporary sub-woofers are powered (non-passive) and have line level (preamp) and speaker level (amplified) inputs. Old school passive (no built-in amp) subs just have a speaker level input. If your's has speaker level inputs that accepts banana plugs then yes, these will work. However most subs that I have seen do not feature banana plug inputs, I'm guessing since you are asking this question that your sub does not If you are looking at a single input that looks like a audio cable input, these won't work. Search subwoofer cable on amazon. (but really any RCA type audio cable will work providing you have a "subwoofer out" on your amp)
Question:	Can you use thes plugs directly into my suboofer if i have push botton clamps for my speaker wire and just use the clamp to hold down the banana plug
Answer:	I think you are confusing the purpose of banana plugs. They are made for making connecting/disconnecting easier at the back of receiver. No unscrewing/screwing down posts...just push pull. The speaker clips on your sub woofer is about as easy as it gets already...no need for them there, and not recommended.

Question:	Will these work with 12 gauge speaker wire
Answer:	yes. I used them with Monster cable heavy speaker wire, plenty of room to make connection. They are excellent quality.
Question:	do they fit in spring clip
Answer:	I have one older set of speakers that I used these with and the do fit--just. Pretty tight and not sure best use as if the spring clip breaks or no longer has enough tension will not work later w bare wire. If you want to use connectors rather than bare wire get "pin" style connectors instead.
Question:	Is the outer barrel made of metal or an insulated material
Answer:	metal

Answer:	Yes it should work fine with 10 gauge.

Answer:	The inside standard female banana diameter is .14" , the Gold male-plugs are in diameter .18" they won't fit the standard female, the spring bows out a bit more . You need the 8pcs gold female plugs that are .20" in diameter, $11.99 on Amazon
Question:	what is the largest Gauge wire that will fit these? I need to fit 10 gauge
Answer:	Ten gauge wire is ~2.6 mm. The hole in the plug is at least 3 mm. My guess is that you should solder the wire in addition to using the single set screw to make a reliable contact.
Question:	How may amps can they handle
Answer:	I can see no rating on them but based on the construction (I am using them) they will admit at least a #12 wire which is good for 20 amps and the constrution would easily support that.
Question:	What is the max gauge wire that can be used? What's the diameter of the hole that accepts a wire
Answer:	I am using 14 gauge ! You might get away with 12 if you splinter a few multi-conductor hairs around the edges!
