The reason being is that these are line level interconnect cables designed to be used in between components with low voltage line level only signals, as in between a source component like a turntable, CD player, tuner, DVD Blu-ray player, to your amplifier only. Speaker wire needs to be a much higher gauge typically between 11 and 16 gauge for a quality connection that allows the much higher voltage signal coming from your speaker outputs on your amplifier to reach the speaker safely.
