Answer:	Greg's answer is misleading. These converters require HDCP (Hi-Def Copy Protection) capabilities, which is unclear that this, or similar units possess. I bought a similar unit for the very connection hookup asked (a TiVo Roamio to an rca tv), and had an error message on my screen that a connection with HDCP was required to view any programs.

Answer:	The VGA does not support audio. Definitely picture though! You might have to use an aux chord for audio but I don't know the ports on your cable box/TV but I hope this helps!
