| Answer: | All within wall speaker wire must be UL CL2 rated to be code compliant in all 50 states. CL2 rated speaker wire is always bound in a white sheathing for ease of identification. (THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT ALL WHITE SHEATHED WIRE IS CL2 RATED) As another posted, if you have a fire and it is discovered that CL2 rated wiring was not used, your insurance provider will have all the info needed to either deny your claim or discount your settlements. It won't be an issue of the non-compliant wire causing a fire, it will be considered a contributing factor as to the ease of the spread of flames. Non CL2 rated wire has a flammable sheathing material. |
