Answer:	It's purely just to make the product seem more attractive. It has nothing to do with wear or corrosion like others have stated. Honestly Toslink is an old and outdated standard. Fiber optic is great when utilized properly, but Toslink can only handle lossless, uncompressed audio for up to 2 channels, surround must be compressed. HDMI is the better standard for hi def audio, and gold plating is also an unnecessary gimmick when dealing with it as well.

Answer:	I immediately had this same question. It's a gimmick. I've had a cheap off brand Tos cable for over 10 years and it still works flawlessly. Gold is one of the best electrical conductors but mainly because it's super malleable. It's probably NOT 24K gold here. Actually I guarantee it's not. Otherwise I'd buy as many as they can make and spend all day with a knife scraping off the gold to sell it at the super high price it's been at. lol.

Answer:	I would. The cable insulation is very high quality. I think it would be just fine. Obviously it would have to be dry. I wouldn’t use it outdoors or anywhere it would be exposed to the weather. I’d use it anywhere inside.

Question:	Where is this cable made
Answer:	In Asia,,, this is the third one I bought over the past 4 years. They work fine. Just difficult to insert in their receptacles ... do not use brute force.... just work each end gingerly into it. Do not forget to remove the very small protective cap on each end before inserting.
Question:	Why doesnt it fit
Answer:	First thing, make sure you’re placing it in the correct port. The cable is a very specific port than a regular USB or other A/V cable. Secondly, and this is what happened with me, the manufacturer put clear plastic coverings on the tips of the cable to protect them during shipping. They’re on there pretty tight and they look like part of the cable, and they’re really small. Once you remove those plastic tips, you shouldn’t have any problems. Finally, the optical port is also a very tight fit and the cable is a very specific shape and has to be aligned perfectly with the port opening shape. I was convinced there was something wrong with it until I noticed those little plastic tips on the cable. The cable works really well and is great quality. I’m glad I bought it. I hope this helps. Answer:	This is not an AUX cable, I use it for my soundbar to the TV an quality is good.

Answer:	The gold plated connector is 1/4" and the metal sleeve with our FosPower Logo is 1/2".

Answer:	Yes, you can use this cable as long as the sound card has Toslink or S/PDIF output, and the surround speaker system has Toslink or S/PDIF input. It will not work with 3.5mm audio jacks.
Question:	how does gold plating have any effect a light beam going down a glass strand, that uses no electric current
Answer:	The level of ignorance in some of these comments is dumbfounding. For the love of God, People educate yourselves. Optical cables transmit light signals on a fiber strand. They are not susceptible to radio frequency or any other electrical interference like analog copper cables would be. They do not benefit from 'grounding'. The gold plating, insulation, and nylon jacket are purely a marketing tactic for ignorant people. If you look at any other functional optical cable you'll notice the connector ends are almost always made of plastic and the cable itself is akin to a spaghetti noodle coated in plastic. That's because the jacket and insulation don't effect anything except maybe durability and parts you see on this product that are gold plated don't do anything except hold the cable in place once it's plugged in. They do not benefit from 'corrosive resistant connectors'. Similar to HDMI cables, optical/digital signals do not benefit from technologies that very much benefit analog cables. It either works or it doesn't. With respect to signal transmission, assuming the cable isn't defective, the performance of a $1 optical cable will be the same as a $100 cable. Reliability is probably the only justifiable reason for spending more on optical/digital cables.
