Answer: Yes, they are waterproof, unless you're looking at standing in water for a long period of time. I've stepped through creeks, and puddles, and have never had my feet get wet. Would I trust them standing in the creek for an hour or two, I don't think so. (But if that's what you're looking for, I'd suggest neoprene boots, not these). They are warm, winter boots that are waterproof well beyond the extent most people would need them to be. I own a pair of these and just ordered another (I've had mine for 4+ years). They still function just fine, but they 're looking worn is all.
Question: What is the circumference of the boot opening and is the shearling footbed removable
Answer: I used it with hollyoaks and other flower plants in my parent's garden in a very rainy year (weird for Georgia) and I had the problem that it kept so much water, at least for the hollyoaks, that these got a fungal disease so I had to remove it to prevent an infestation. I must say that the only affected were the hollyoaks so it may have been a species-related issue. As for the weeds, there were very few in spite of the constant watery state of the flower bed.

Answer: It helps with sandy soil but works better if you mix some basic clay type kitty litter in first. The kitty litter is clay, already in small pieces and really helps the sandy soil to firm up a bit. Mix this in with it and you hold more moisture and waste a lot less water.

Answer: A typical 2 cu/ft bag covers 8 sq/ft @ 3" deep. Typically 2-3" is reccomended for weed control and moisture I hope this helps.

Answer: I don't think so. These boots are strong but not that strong. They have a lovely leather finish. I don't even wear them when it rains and wouldn't wear them in the snow. That being said, they actually need care (buffing and light polish) to keep them looking great. They are very comfortable and very warm.

Answer: They are defiantly cute shoes! You could wear them all of those places, just depending how dressy your work environment is. They also are waterproof so do serve function too.
