Answer:	From what I remember it was a little over 3mm. The backings are small but I have found they work well. Recently I did change to silicone backings on my ear as they stay in always and keep the earring in place without irritating my ear. I’ve purchased quite a few of these types of earrings and for the quality and price I felt it was a good deal and would do again. The semi solid or solid gold is worth it alone as the others I’ve ordered were hallow and ended up with dents from other companies.
