Answer: The bottom bunk certainly does. I'm 240 and sleep in it all the time. The top bunk has a weight restriction from the manufacturer that was around 150 so in the interest of safety I stay in the bottom bunk while our 75 lb 8 year old sleeps in the top.

On the bottom is another storage space that's about 2 ft long, as tall as the stair, and goes all the way back to the bed. This bed is seriously solid! The stair storage is HUGE! And what you can't see in the pic is the stairs have safety grip strips! This was definitely a great purchase! Ps. The under bed storage space is amazing too!!
