Answer:	The waist is 1/4 inch lower than the photo of the model (on my body). I found the medium waist to be too big, (my waist is about 26") and the medium length to be too long. I am 5'7" and 133 lbs. I returned the medium for a small. The small is a more compressed fit, but I like it. There are no bulges, and the texture of the fabric on the outside has enough smoothness that tunic tops don't get stuck on the fabric of the leggings; they hang down.

Answer:	I don't think they stretch out over the course of the day. They fit the same in the morning and at night. I really like that about them. My only complaint is that they are a little bit long on me.

Answer:	I think the waist is a bit tight (my waist measures 32"), so for comfort sake I would go with the medium/large. The inseam measures 25" so I think they'll be fine for someone 5' tall.

I'm male 5'8" and 125lbs and got the S and it works great for me. Women could get away with a little tighter and even down size, but this fit perfect for me. Comfortable and soft. The legs are long which I like and I use them for running. I think the xs should work for you.
