User questions & answers
Question: | Can this product be used on a leather stearing wheel to maybe hide that sticky feel |
Answer: | It should work on leather to stop it from absorbing water. |
Question: | will this make a boot or shoe water proof |
Answer: | Yes, it will. |
Question: | Can you spray the inside the shoes |
Answer: | Thanks for asking! We would recommend to spray the entire surface from 7 - 10 inches away with a light, even coat |
Question: | How much will the color be affected if used on white sneakers |
Answer: | I applied 2 coats & let dry completely between coats...outdoors (about 8-12 hrs between each coat, during 75+/dry weather & avoided inhaling fumes)...to a pair of relatively expensive, white, 'high top' sneakers & while slight...2 BFFs said they could barely notice the color change 'close up' when completely dry, & not at all when I was wearing them...it still bothered me. So, I put ONE 'SCANT' coat of white WAX, KIWI shoe polish over this 'waterproofing' & that worked great, making them as white as B4...Even 3 years later, I can't believe how good they still look. Living in SE Pennsylvania, I have worn them thru MANY DOWNPOURS/snowstorms/while cleaning snow off my car...even when I've, unintentionally, stepped in water puddles...stm…also at several sporting events, concerts etc. & my feet stay dry as can be! BTW, I haven't reapplied the Kiwi Waterproofing since I first got them, but I have reapplied the white shoe polish, after using a diluted REGULAR Dawn/warm water solution & a soft, microfiber cloth to gently clean & allowing them to dry completely...to keep them looking good, for as long as possible...& only notice 'dirt' & VERY SMALL amount of the white polish on the cloth, that easily washes off the cloth, so that tells me I'm not 'washing off/effecting' the original coats of waterproofing...A lot is still left in the can, but since it is 3+ yrs old, just getting a new can, for when I find a new pair of boots I'm looking for & sharing with Friends...MUCH cheaper for same amount, here @ AMAZON than I paid at a shoe store (price sticker still on it) & saw your question/concern. Hoping this helps...HAPPY THANKSGIVING/HOLIDAY SEASON!! |

Answer: | Yes, this spray will help make your boots and clothing water resistant. Just spray it on and the rain water will bead right off. Get enough to reapply when needed. |
Question: | Is this the kiwi HD silicone water proofing spray |
Answer: | HI I waterproofed boots and outdoor clothes which were blue in color. The Kiwi spray did a good job in waterproofing th eitems but I am not sure if it would change the color of a light colored fabric. |
Question: | Can I spray my cream linen dining chairs to prevent stains |
Answer: | Kiwi Cam Dry lasts a long time, maybe not permanent but does not have to be reapplied frequently |
Question: | Is this permanent or do I have to reapply frequently |
Answer: | It will bead water from flannel to a certain extent, but it will not make the flannel a rain jacket. If you were going to use it for stain guard protection I would say yes. You may need to use 2nd and third coat for better results. Hope this helps.... |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use on polyester |
Answer: | I would think it would be fine to spray the outer fabric of the coat. I wouldn't apply so much as to saturate to down. |
Question: | Can I use this in a down coat |
Answer: | I sprayed a 7 person tent about twice with one can. Worked great. Went camping and had two small leaks near the seams after a heavy downpour over several days of camping. Used a second can starting with those areas and had no leaks the second camping trip! Now I just reapply with one can depending on how much camping we expect to do that season. |
Question: | How much of an area can one can cover |
Answer: | I understand your condition. I flew in the Navy, and pre-flights in the rain were the worst. I'm not sure this product is you. It's not resistant to abrasions, and would definitely not stand up to laundry detergent. It's designed to be applied to an existing water resistant material, like a tarp or tent. Although it says you can apply to other things like boots, in my opinion, this would cause the product to wear off fairly quickly. You have my sincere sympathy and hope that you find a good solution. |
Question: | I work in the oilfield. its raining like crazy right now. can i use this on my fr clothes, wash them, and still be water repellant? im soaked. lol |
Answer: | I have used it on rain coat, two pair UGG boots, isotoner gloves and a pair of UGG suede slippers that I always run outside in. Of course first 24 hours, AFTER bringing in house from spraying you will notice smell and may even feel a slightly different texture to your material items. After about 48 hours it's as if you never sprayed anything on them at all. Regarding dogs, I have a 215lb English Cream, Golden Retriever. Smartest dog I have ever known but I have to vac 2x a day just to keep up. Hair is not attracted to sprayed items at all. Enjoy your day. Bj |

User questions & answers
Question: | how many square feet does this cover |
Answer: | I can't speak on a wooden door which probably is heavier than my one piece aluminum door. You may want to up the power to the 3/4 model instead of the 1/2 hp. I have no problems with it at all and I bought it because it is extremely quiet. |
Question: | how many square feet does this cover |
Answer: | 27 feet long |
Question: | Will this product discolor fabric? Does the spray allow for a uniform application |
Answer: | That is the height. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are there ingredients in this that could cause health issues absorbed trough the feet |
Answer: | Nikwax takes great care to minimize the effect of Nikwax products on the environment and on you, the consumer. Nikwax waterproofing products are WaterBased, non-aerosol, non-flammable, non-hazardous and environmentally friendly. They contain no harmful solvents or volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and are completely free of fluorocarbons (which have been shown to be persistent in the environment and have been associated with serious health issues). |
Question: | Before applying, do i need to shampoo clean the suede shoes first? do i need to brush the surface after applying it |
Answer: | Your shoes need to be damp kind of wet all over to get the waterproofing deeper into the leather. It kind of rides the water in and the water dries away leaving the waterproofing. Pretty cool actually. |
Question: | Will there be enough in one bottle to do a pair of womens 10 to 12 inch tall size 8 suede leather boots ? How many application coats is best |
Answer: | I have done three pairs of short boots (size 9 1/2) and am sure that you can easily cover one pair of 12 inch boots size 8 |
Question: | Does it work on ugg boots |
Answer: | If your ugg boots are made out of suede or nubuck then yes this will work. If your boots are made of fabric then I suggest using Nikwax Fabric and Leather Proof. Remember this product will add water resistance to your uggs, but they are still not meant to be submerged. Also always clean shoes with Nikwax footwear cleaning gel before waterproofing! |

Cleans Your Footwear
Your waterproof footwear could be soaking up water just because it is dirty! Through use, the outer surface of footwear will pick up contaminants, such as dirt, which attract water. This masks the effect of any Durable Water Repellent (DWR) coating, leading to footwear 'wetting out' in wet or damp conditions.
Cleaning waterproof footwear with Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel will not only remove contaminants, such as dirt, but also revitalize DWR, causing water to bead on the outer surface once more.
Waterproofs Your Footwear
Alternative waterproofing products leave behind a surface coating that can inhibit or reduce breathability, leading to wet feet from condensation. Many waterproofing products areaerosols or use fluorocarbons. Aerosol products are flammable, and fluorocarbons pose a potential risk to the environment and to the long-term health of the consumer. Nikwax products are a completely non-flammable, safe product that you can apply to wet or dry leather, providing instant Durable Water Repellency (DWR) while maintaining breathability. Nikwax products can waterproof footwear made of fabric, leather, suede, or nubuck!
Eliminates Odor From Your Footwear
All sandals and foot beds have one thing in common; over time, contact with your bare feet will lead to a build up of dirt and body oils. This then leads to bacterial growth and smelly footwear!
Nikwax Sandal Wash is a highly effective cleaner and deodorizer which has been specifically designed and optimized to clean and deodorize all non waterproof footwear, including shoes, sandals and next to skin areas of footwear, such as insoles and footbeds.
Aids the Breathability of Your Footwear
Breathable waterproof footwear is most likely to get sweaty and wet inside when used in damp or wet conditions. If the outer fabric or leather absorbs water, the breathability of the footwear will be reduced leaving your feet clammy and wet. Therefore, the Durable Water Repellency (DWR) of your footwear must be maintained to ensure comfort. Through use, the outer surface of footwear will pick up contaminants, such as dirt, which attract water, masking the effect of any DWR coating. Nikwax Footwear Cleaning Gel will remove contaminants and revitalize DWR.

Question: | Is it safe to use on jordans |
Answer: | I replaced an old unit and used the existing metal braces. If you have have no metal braces currently then yes i'd recommend you buy the kit. The motor should typically be hung from metal not wood. Good luck. |
Question: | Does this protect against bleach |
Answer: | I’m not sure what you have. But in my case I had to swap everything. The rail is a square tube, and it uses a chain with a plastic piece where you can manually open the door. So in conclusion I’m quite certain you would need to replace everything. |

Question: | My BF is a painter, would this work on a leather wrist cuff |
Answer: | If what you want is to not to get paint on the wrist cuff, no, this is to repel water. Paint has chemicals and it will get on the cuff no matter what |
Question: | How often does it need to be reapplied |
Answer: | depends how much weather your item sees. with my brushed leather work shoes I think I applied it twice in 30 days (just to make sure) in the fall, then once again in the spring. I run deliveries for a local bakery in western N.Y. state so I am out in all kinds of rain and puddles and mud. I wear serious boots in the winter so these shoes don't see snow deeper than two inches and in summer I wear gym shoes. this stuff is terrific! and by the way,I used it on the gym shoes twice as well and it's still working great! really good stuff! I imagine a leather jacket would only need one application unless you're out in the rain everyday. hope this helps. |

Question: | Will it work on Nike Roshe's |
Answer: | I have not. |
Question: | How would this be on suede shoes |
Answer: | Genie Chain Drive 750 - advert here says it has battery backup -- comments say it does not - maybe comments are for a different unit? |
Question: | Will this work on patio umbrella |
Answer: | Yes, this can replace the ReliaG 850. |
Question: | Would this or the green can be best for black Canvas shoes for waterproofing |
Answer: | I installed this opener on an aluminum garage door measuring 15.75 ft wide and 7 ft tall. This is 110.25 sq feet of aluminum door. Your question is for a door measuring 8 ft wide and 10 ft tall. This is 80 sq feet of door. If it's an aluminum door, then it should be lighter than my door. If it's a wooden door then there is no way to make a comparison. You will have to buy and install the extension because your door is 10 ft tall. The factory pack chain track just fit my 7 ft tall door. |
