| Answer: | Thanks for your question. My son is a big 8 year old (almost 9) and he has a child's chanter. The full size chanter will probably be too big. The problem is the player's pads of their fingers need to be flat over the holes and with a chanter that is too big the child can't reach the last hole for their pinky finger. Personally I'd recommend a child's chanter, they may outgrow it in a year or two but at least they won't develop bad habits in that first year. I hope this helps. The Barefoot Bagpiper |
