User questions & answers
Question: | How long will this watch continue to keep time if not worn? (I alternate between multiple watches) Thx |
Answer: | Approx?after 12 hour period. It's my everyday watch, but when I don't have it on, it's always stopping. |
Question: | On Amazons picture it shows the day as Dom(domingo for spanish speakers) Will I get the english version |
Answer: | From the product description: "Features include luminosity, sweeping second hand, canvas band, and a date window that can be formatted in English or Spanish" |
Question: | What size nato strap does this take? Do you utilize the existing springbars? Anyone recommendations |
Answer: | 18mm. Seiko springbars are great, I've never broken one. Google "snk809 wornandwound" for some pretty pics. Lots of NATO/Zulu/mil spec strap options but stay away from the cheap ones. Look for ones that thread stitch the seams and not just heat welded. Maratac, Clockwork Synergy, Nato International are good brands to start looking. |
Question: | What is the TRUE water resistance...there are 3 posted |
Answer: | 30 METERS (3 bar or atmospheres) which equals 100 FEET - the product description is incorrect and backwards. That being said, most 30m rated watches are okay for being quickly splashed for cleaning, but not rated to be WR for swimming pool or beach. This is not a dive watches which usually starts at 100m Water Resistant depths and have screw-down crowns. |

User questions & answers
Question: | White or Grey? Which one pops up more |
Answer: | IMO, white. Grey is subtle, but very nice. |
Question: | windable and hacking |
Answer: | Yes this generation is hand windable and hacks. Only Gen One versions don’t hand wind and hack. Orient later produced a second generation of the same watch with some upgrades to the movement. Here is how you tell Gen One from Gen Two just from looking at them quickly. Gen One says, “water resist” on the face and Gen Two says, “water resistant.” They otherwise look pretty much identical. |
Question: | I have an 8" wrist. Will it fit |
Answer: | I too have a 8” wrist. The existing band barely fit, so I replaced the band with a solid black Zulu strap. The strap is 22mm but it folded into the 21mm lug area very nicely. It really looks very nice IMO and I really love the watch. Russ Kemper |
Question: | Can you hear the watch winding itself when you move |
Answer: | No you can't hear the rotor while you wear the watch. You can hear it if you shake the watch to manually wind it. Love the watch well worth the money.. |

A New Generation of Bambino
The Version 3 has been known for its contemporary feel, a far cry from the classic and antique motifs of the earlier models. Its minimal look is translated through clean, vertical lines and rectangular hands. This symmetry is mirrored by a subtle sunburst dial, which also provides a gentle gleam and clear depth in design. Aside from these modern elements, the Version 3 is a Bambino through and through, carrying its signature domed crystal and domed dial, along with the dual-finish sandwich-style case.

User questions & answers
Question: | I have looked at this watch a few times at local jewelry stores and it has always been listed as a 38mm diameter case. is this 42 or 38mm? With crown |
Answer: | There are differing size ranges, but this particular one is 42mm without the crown. |
Question: | I would like to obtain a hamilton stainless steel bracelet for the 38mm hamilton field khaki. how can i obtain one |
Answer: | The Hamilton website does not offer replacement bracelets, only straps. I don't think you're going to find one easily, and if you do, it will be very expensive, almost as much as a gray market Hamilton. I would look for aftermarket bracelets that have the proper lug width. Even a nice milanese "shark mesh" bracelet would look good on this watch. |
Question: | Does this watch have incabloc or etachoc shock protection |
Answer: | It's actually an Incabloc shock protection. All eta 2824 movements have shock protection but because 2824 movements have 4 levels of quality. Base, Elabore, Top, and COSC...only Top and COSC have the etachoc protection. Incabloc is more than adequate for most people. |
Question: | Does this watch have the see thre back |
Answer: | Ohhh yea buddy |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the 21 jewel movement |
Answer: | Its the good ole 7s26 movement. Dont know how many jewels. U can wear it prob. 20 yrs without a.service... |
Question: | is this water resist or Divers 200m |
Answer: | Divers 200M, the only reason I did not like it was that it is one of the new ones that you wind with your movement, but that does not always provide enough power to keep the time, you might want to look at www.watchery.com, that is were I found my new divers watch. |
Question: | What is the power reserve of this watch? stated or specified; Is there a power reserve meter on the dial |
Answer: | No, there is no meter. The manual says if you use it for 12 hours the power remains for other 12.What I do is to shake it for 10 seconds when I remove it after using it during the day and it is usually still running the morning after.A weak point is that it does not have a manual chord, so you have to shake it.Other than that, it is a great watch. Worth it. |
Question: | Did this watch come in the original packaging with tags |
Answer: | The watch comes with original seiko box and tags, all new |

SEIKO 5 - the meaning of the "5" A great marketer had the idea in the 70ies: to be a SEIKO 5, the watch has to have the following 5 (five) attributes (thus the name SEIKO 5): 1. Automatic, 2. Water resistant, 3. Shock resistant, 4. Date, 5. Day. Please note that some SEIKO 5's are in fact SEIKO 4's, if the "Day" function is omitted, then the Caliber 7S25 is used. The only difference to the normally found 7S26 is the omission of the day wheel. Also re-issues of SEIKO 5 Sports often use the 7S36 caliber. Again the 7S36 is similar to the most popular 7S26, yet it features 23 Jewels as opposed to the 21 Jewels in the 7S26. Please note that all these movements beat at a rate of 21'600 bph (beats per hour) or 6 bps (beats per second). As a comparison, an ETA 2824-2 beats at 28'800 bph or 8 bps. A Miyota 82xx beats at 21'600 bph. Why do I mention these three movements? Because they are found in probably 80% of all inexpensive automatic wrist watches. A market share that is huge, yet challenged these days (2006) by an increasing share of inexpensive China Made automatic movements An automatic watch (also called a self-winding watch) is a mechanical watch, typically with a balance wheel escapement, whose mainspring is wound by the motion of the wearer's arm, instead of having to be wound manually every day. Whereas a quartz watch is powered by electricity, a mechanical watch is powered by a mainspring which must be rewound for the watch to keep time

User questions & answers

Answer: | When the watch is working properly it will stay charged with daily sunlight. My watch did not maintain a charge, I sent it back for repair. They fixed it quickly at no cost. Watch has worked perfectly since that repair. |
Question: | Is this a women’s or men’s watch |
Answer: | You have to reset it, but it's very easy to do. (If you remember. LOL) |
Question: | how do i set day and date |

Question: | Are all the day names black or some red? i saw some pictures on other sites where sun was red and sat was blue |
Answer: | The band was about 1/2" to long for my wrist, it is something you can do yourself , go on U-Tube and they show you exactly how to do it |

Our Heritage
The story of Seiko began in 1881, when a 21 year old entrepreneur, Kintaro Hattori, opened a shop selling and repairing watches and clocks in central Tokyo. Just eleven years later, in 1892, he established the 'Seikosha' factory.
Seikosha was founded; started producing wall clocks.
In 1892 Kintaro Hattori bought a disused factory in Tokyo and Seikosha was formed (In Japanese, "Seiko" means "exquisite", "minute" or "success" and "sha" means house). It was here that Kintaro Hattori produced his first clocks and these marked the beginnings of a company that was to become one of the important manufacturers of timepieces.
The Legacy Carries On
When, in 1913, Seiko built its first wrist watch, the company’s president called it the Laurel. It was not only a first for Seiko, but also a first for Japan and it was the beginning of a tradition of innovation that resulted directly from Kintaro Hattori’s determination. Today, after more than 130 years of innovation, Kintaro Hattori’s company is still dedicated to the dreams that the founder always strove to achieve.

User questions & answers
Question: | When buying for xmas how long do you have fir returns |
Answer: | That is a good question . The literature says 10 months on a full charge . In bright light I would initially place in a south facing window for 8-10 hours each day for a week . The watch comes from complete darkness in shipping which could have been a very long time . Assume it is barely charged and follow my advice . It has an overcharge feature to protect the battery . Each minute of bright sunlight is equal to an hour of runtime , so 7 , 8 hour days of charging is 3360 charge hours or 140 days of reserve charge . Seiko is a good watch but it's light gathering is behind that of Citizen . Put it in a window one day a month afterwards and it should eventually have the stated 10 month reserve . Just be sure the watch does not get very hot in the window or it will damage the battery . |
Question: | is this available with a black face |
Answer: | this is not accurate. it has Japanese movement; but not made in Japan. That means is made or assembled in another country. Very few Seikos are made in japan and you'll see that in the front face in small letters. |
Question: | does anyone know or can explain how to take links out |
Answer: | Yes, we only sell authentic brand watches. |
Question: | Is the face backlit |
Answer: | The watch is powered by Solar energy and if the watch stop working due to lack of exposure to light, simply expose the watch to sunlight again for it to work again.your manual should have information regarding the solar energy maintanence for this watch |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why can't I ship this item to England |
Answer: | Hello,Yes, the two different o-rings represent differences in thickness and reductions in travel. 40A-R Blue (0.4mm) - more shock reduction with noticeable shorter key travel40A-L Red (0.2mm) - less shock reduction, but minimal change in key travelPlease let me know if you have any other questions. Best Regards,SamanthaWASD Keyboards |
Question: | is it solar |
Answer: | I have two types of the keyboards sampled in the tester. The keys are a very close approximation for the "real thing". The best choice will be completely subjective to what you like. |
Question: | Do you need to manually change the date in months with less than 31 days |
Answer: | I can understand your uncertainty, because the product description is a misnomer. The widget is designed to be a key-characteristic DEMONSTRATOR, rather than a TESTER to verify proper functioning. It allows you to compare each major type so you can select a favorite. That's why it comes with 6 different types of new keys instead of using yours. |
Question: | The manual says this watch has a screw down crown. But in my watch the crown cannot be locked while pushed down, it just free rotates. Is it right |
Answer: | Product is as described. It has 6 keys with different Cherry "color" switch type. It does NOT have spare keys or switches. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can a link be easy to remove to adjust the band length |
Answer: | Yes, there are pins that can be pressed out to remove links. One side of the pin is split with a slight bend to make a right fit. Look for the side with a small slit, push out from the opposite side and it should come out easily. If you don't ace a watch band pin press, you can improvise with a small finish nail sanded to have a flat tip. Just be careful not to slip or mar the surface. |
Question: | Is this a genuine seiko watch |
Answer: | By purchasing from Princeton Watches because we are authorized retailers for Seiko you can be assured that we sell only brand-new, first quality, boxed product, with the original manufacturer's warranty. |
Question: | Does it come with tool to adjust the steel band |
Answer: | No, it does not. I used a paper clip to push the pins out. Once you have the required links removed rejoin the ends of the band, insert one of the pins and tap into place. |
Question: | What size spring bar pins does this watch use |
Answer: | Inside width of area for spring bar measured 20 mm so would think the 22 mm size offered would be the size. |
