14 best seiko computer watches
Seiko is a well-known Japanese watch brand with a rich history of producing high-quality timepieces. While Seiko is primarily recognized for its traditional mechanical watches, it has also delved into the realm of computer watches. Here's an overview:
Seiko Computer Watches:
History:
- Seiko played a pioneering role in the development of computer watches during the late 20th century.
- The Seiko Data-2000, introduced in 1983, is considered one of the early examples of a computer watch. It featured a built-in keyboard for data entry.
Functionality:
- Seiko computer watches were designed to offer more than just timekeeping. They often had additional features such as calculators, calendars, and data storage capabilities.
- Some models, like the Seiko UC-2000, featured miniature dot matrix screens for basic graphics and text.
Design:
- Despite their advanced features, Seiko maintained a commitment to design and craftsmanship. The computer watches were often sleek and stylish, resembling traditional wristwatches.
Integration with Personal Computers:
- The early Seiko computer watches were intended to connect with personal computers of the time for data synchronization and storage.
- Users could transfer information between the watch and a computer using specialized interfaces.
Discontinuation:
- As technology evolved, the popularity of computer watches waned, and Seiko, like many other watch manufacturers, shifted its focus back to traditional watchmaking.
Collectibility:
- Seiko computer watches, especially vintage models, have gained collector's interest due to their historical significance and unique features.
Modern Seiko Watches:
- While Seiko has a legacy in computer watches, its primary focus today is on a wide range of mechanical and quartz watches, including dive watches, dress watches, and sports watches.
In summary, Seiko computer watches represent an interesting chapter in the brand's history, showcasing a blend of horology and early attempts at wearable computing. While these computer watches are not as prevalent today, they remain noteworthy for their contributions to the evolution of wearable technology.

About Seiko: In 1877, at the age of 18, Kintaro Hattori set up business repairing the Western-style clocks that were becoming increasingly popular in Japan. By 1892, Hattori was manufacturing his own clocks in a factory he called Seikosha, from the words "seiko" meaning "exquisite," "success," or "miniature," and "sha" meaning "house." The company grew and prospered, producing its first wristwatch in 1913 and launching the Seiko brand in 1924. Technological innovation has always been a driving force in the company's history. Key milestones include Seiko's introduction of the world's first quartz watch in 1969, and its successful launch, in 1988, of the Kinetic, the world's first battery-free watch with quartz accuracy. Recognized for its technological excellence, Seiko has provided timekeeping services for the Olympic Games and the World Cup Soccer Championships. Today, the Seiko brand continues to stand for state-of-the-art technology, as well as superior quality and refined design.

From the master craftsmen at Seiko, the Seiko Men's SNXL72 Seiko 5 Automatic Gold-Tone Stainless Steel Bracelet Watch is a cutting-edge timepiece with a masculine appeal. Featuring a gold analog dial and a gold-tone stainless steel band, this watch is packed with style and would be a great addition to your watch collection.
This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries; instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. When not in use, automatic watches may be kept charged with an automatic watch winder – a watch storage unit which may be purchased separately.

User questions & answers
Question: | What size nato? 20mm or 21mm |
Answer: | 21 mm |
Question: | It composed by the Seiko 7T62 quartz movement |
Answer: | It has a quartz movement |
Question: | Are the markings around the bezel painted on? Will they wear off over time |
Answer: | Yes, the markings on the bezel are printed on it. I have this precious piece of art watch for about a year now and it still looks like brand new (I'm careful with it anyway because I love it). I don't know if the markings will wear off over time. I didn't even think about it, but if they do, I think it will take a long time for that to happen. |
Question: | What would be the correct size for a leather strap for this watch? 20, 21, 22mm |
Answer: | 21mm for sure. 22mm would either not fit or you would have to jam it (I made the mistake of buying a 22mm the first time) whereas with 20mm the band will have room to slide around. |

Answer: | The master of G is rechargeable and has more features |
Question: | Is the bezel fixed or rotating |
Answer: | I don't have this watch anymore, but as I recall it was more olive drab than green. I think it would look fine with a black uniform. Personally I didn't like this watch. It was hard to see the numbers and the buttons were very difficult to press (eventually failed). I replaced it with a G-7900-3DR which is olive drab. Much better watch overall in my opinion. |

This Seiko Diver men's diver's watch combines technology, with a rugged and stylish design. The 22-millimeter-wide bracelet with a fold-over safety clasp transitions smoothly into the classic round 45-millimeter case, both of which are constructed of stainless steel with a bright, polished silver finish. Encased safely inside a scratch-resistant Hardlex crystal, the deep-blue dial accentuates the light-catching, LumiBrite hands and hour markers, and is bordered by a two-tone, blue and red stainless-steel, rotating bezel with markers to measure elapsed time. This sophisticated timepiece also sports a window at 3 o'clock that displays both the date and day. As resilient as it is sophisticated, this analog watch is driven by an automatic movement that is powered by the motion of your wrist, and is water resistant down to 660 feet.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the dial on this model blue or black ? are there options to blue or black dial on skx |
Answer: | No, I disagree. The 009 does not come ever with the option of purchasing a black dial. It is a very dark blue, and the 007 is a black dial. To my knowledge and research there is no skx009 with a black dial. |
Question: | This watch is called a Diver's watch, but the description says it's not ok to dive with it...Is it suitable for a dive watch at the specified depth |
Answer: | If you actually dive 200m then you are probably Aquaman and dont need this watch. 200m ~ 656 feet |
Question: | Does this watch have a blue dial and a blue/red bezel |
Answer: | The dial is very dark blue, almost as black, with blue/red bezel. |
Question: | How does this watch differ from the new PADI limited edition |
Answer: | I have an SKX007 as well as the Seiko Turtle PADI edition (SRPA21) and they are different in a few ways: 1). The PADI Turtle features a movement with hacking seconds and manual winding capabilities. 2). The Turtles (SRP collection) have a different case shape (cushion style) and are larger in diameter 3). The dial on the PADI turtle (PADI ed. only) has a sunburst-effect blue dial with PADI branding above the 6-o-clock marker. All in all, I have both an SKX and an SRP because I like them both for different reasons. Can't go wrong with either! But head-to-head the SRPs have the slight edge with the better movement. |
