13 best automatic mens watches
Automatic men's watches are a popular category of wristwatches known for their intricate mechanical movements and timeless style. These watches are often highly regarded by watch enthusiasts and collectors for their craftsmanship and engineering. Here are some key features and aspects of automatic men's watches:
Mechanical Movement: Automatic watches are powered by a mechanical movement, which means they do not rely on batteries or quartz crystals like their quartz counterparts. Instead, they operate through a series of gears, springs, and a mainspring.
Self-Winding: One distinctive feature of automatic watches is their self-winding mechanism. Inside the watch, there is a rotor that moves with the motion of the wearer's wrist. This motion winds the mainspring, storing energy to power the watch. If left unworn for an extended period, some automatic watches may need manual winding to keep running.
Accuracy: While automatic watches are known for their craftsmanship and heritage, they may not be as accurate as quartz watches. The precision of an automatic watch can vary, with some models losing or gaining a few seconds per day.
Sweeping Seconds Hand: One of the visual cues that distinguish automatic watches is the smooth, sweeping motion of the seconds hand, unlike the ticking motion of quartz watches. This motion is often considered more aesthetically pleasing.
Watch Complications: Many automatic men's watches feature additional functions beyond telling time, known as complications. Common complications include date displays, chronographs (stopwatches), moon phases, and more. These complications can add both practicality and sophistication to the timepiece.
Craftsmanship: Automatic watches often come with high-quality materials and craftsmanship. They can feature stainless steel, precious metals like gold or platinum, sapphire crystal, and fine leather or metal straps. Some brands are renowned for their meticulous attention to detail and handcrafted movements.
Brands and Models: There are numerous brands that produce automatic men's watches, each with its own style, heritage, and reputation. Some well-known brands in this category include Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, TAG Heuer, and many others. Each brand may offer a range of models designed for various purposes, from sporty diver's watches to elegant dress watches.
Maintenance: Automatic watches require periodic maintenance to ensure they continue running accurately. This includes cleaning, lubrication, and, if necessary, servicing the movement.Regular maintenance can extend the lifespan of the watch.
Collectibility: Many collectors are drawn to automatic watches due to their history and the potential for appreciation in value over time. Vintage automatic watches, in particular, can be highly sought after.
Price Range: The price of automatic men's watches can vary widely, from affordable models in the hundreds of dollars to luxury timepieces that cost tens of thousands or more. The price depends on factors such as brand reputation, materials used, and the complexity of the watch's movement and features.
Automatic men's watches combine traditional craftsmanship with timeless design, making them a favorite choice for those who appreciate the artistry and history of horology. Whether for daily wear, special occasions, or collecting, these watches offer a blend of functionality and aesthetics that appeals to many men.

If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. Product description
With a bold design, this Invicta chronograph has a poised and calm ambience that’s sure to have you looking twice.
Classic styling and high performance add up to an outstanding sport watch for your land or sea adventures. This automatic watch, from Invicta's Pro Diver series, places a large round stainless steel case on a robust triple link steel bracelet. The black dial is designed for quick and easy read-off, even in low light conditions. It offers three-hand function with Tritnite-coated luminous hands and hour markers and a magnified date display at the three o'clock mark. The dial is capped with a resilient mineral crystal and framed by a black unidirectional rotating steel bezel with coin edge detailing. This watch is driven by Japanese automatic movement, which is visible through the see-through skeleton case back. It is rated water resistant to a full 660 feet (200 meters).
Automatic Watches
Automatic watches do not operate on batteries. Automatic watches are made up of about 130 or more parts that work together to tell time. Automatic movements mark the passage of time by a series of gear mechanisms, and are wound by the movement of your wrist as you wear it. The gear train then transmits the power to the escapement, which distributes the impulses, turning the balance wheel. The balance wheel is the time regulating organ of a mechanical watch, which vibrates on a spiral hairspring. Lengthening or shortening the balance spring makes the balance wheel go faster or slower to advance or retard the watch. The travel of the balance wheel from one extreme to the other and back again is called oscillation. When this type of watch is removed from your wrist, the movement winds down in 10 to 72 hours, depending on the size of its winding reserve Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.
Also referred to as self-winding, watches with automatic movements utilize kinetic energy, the swinging of your arm, to provide energy to an oscillating rotor to keep the watch ticking. They're considered more satisfying to watch collectors (horologists) because of the engineering artistry that goes into the hundreds of parts that make up the movement. If you do not wear an automatic watch consistently (for about 8 to 12 hours a day), you can keep the watch powered with a watch winder (a great gift for collectors).
Screw Down Crowns: Many Invicta watches are equipped with a screw down crown to help prevent water infiltration. This is most common on our Diver models. In order to adjust the date and/or time on such a watch, you must first unscrew the crown before you can gently pull it out to its first or second click stop position. To do this, simply rotate the crown counterclockwise until it springs open. When you have finished setting the watch, the crown must then be pushed in and screwed back in tightly. Not doing so will cancel the water resistance of the watch and will void all warranties from the manufacturer. Overall, this process should not require a lot of effort or force.
Pro Diver Collection
Plunge into any horizon using the steadfast guidance of the Invicta Pro Diver. Stylishly classic, internal workings are forged with variations of either Swiss chronograph or 21-jewel automatic movements and willingly navigate in depths up to 300 meters. Built with confident prowess, the fortitude with which these timepieces function makes the Pro Diver the quintessential in performance.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is there a self help on removing two or three links? I have the tools |
Answer: | Search "Invicta Link Removal" on You Tube. There are many videos, some are better than others. Pay attention to the direction of the arrows on the bracelet links. |
Question: | What is the difference between invicta 8926ob pro diver and invicta 17044 pro diver, the second is cheaper, what are other differences |
Answer: | They are pretty much the same watch and both have an Automatic Seiko movement (NH35A). The only difference I have found is the 8926OB face is more similar to the Rolex Submariner, with tabs instead of dots at the 3, 6 and 9 positions. Also, the loupe over the date window is slightly more powerful on the 8926OB, making it easier to read the date. I have both watches and prefer the 8926OB! |
Question: | Can enough links be removed to accommodate a 6.5" (approx.) wrist |
Answer: | Yes. I have a 6.25" wrist, and had to remove all but one link. So for a 6.5" wrist, removing all but 2 should be fine. The respondent above who said the links are graduated in size is mistaken. All the _removable_ links are the same size. |
Question: | What is the difference between 8926OB and 17044 ? Which is the better one |
Answer: | The 8926OB has straight indicese at 6 and 9 while the 17044 has round ones. The band width on the 8926 is 20mm while 18mm on the 17044. The case thickness on the 8926 is 11mm while 14mm on the 17044.17044 is a newer model (jan 2014) and the 8926OB is 2006 (with a new version in 2011). Also, the 17044 lists a "stopwatch" as a special feature. |

Answer: | Very recessed don't worry bro |
Question: | It is a original watch? . .it is not a imitation? . . thanks for your honesty |
Answer: | In my opinion it is the original g shock watch and not an intimidation or fake |
Question: | this watch it is sold with a face protector?,,thanks i |
Answer: | The watch does not come with a screen protector. However, the bezels of these Casio G-Shock are made such that should the watch fall on it's face, the bumpers around the screen will take the impact and spare the glass. Of course, not all falls are on flat surfaces, but the screen of these G-Shocks are typically made of super tough mineral glass, capable of enduring many scuffs and scratches with very few scars. |

Question: | Is there any way for you to ship to Turkey |
Answer: | No idea. But it is Amazon, and Amazon can do pretty much anything!! |
Question: | How many tpd or turn per day is required for this watch? I need to buy an winder. Please suggest a good one |
Answer: | I love this watch but you don't wind it conventionally. It is automatic so you have to tilt it back and forth and the pendulum inside does the winding for you. Simply wearing the watch will wind it up and then it is good for 24 to 30 hours on standby. If you wear it every day it will keep good time. If it sits for a couple of days you will have to set the time and date, tilt it back and forth a few times and then it is good to go. |
Question: | Would the strap on this watch fit a 7 1/2" wrist |
Answer: | My wrist is 7-1/2" and this watch fits me perfectly. |
Question: | does it have a manual wind feature |

Invicta, Pro Diver, Men's Watch, Stainless Steel and Yellow Gold Plated Case, Stainless Steel and Yellow Gold Plated Bracelet, Mechanical Automatic (Self-Winding), 8928C
Classic styling and high performance add up to an outstanding sport watch for your land or sea adventures. This two-tone automatic watch, from Invicta's Pro Diver series, places a large round stainless steel case on a robust steel bracelet with gold-plated center links. The electric blue dial is designed for quick and easy read-off, even in low light conditions. It offers three-hand function with luminous hands and markers and a magnified date display at the three o'clock position. The detailed hands, in Mercedes, sword, and breguet-style logo shapes, add a note of distinction. The dial is capped with a resilient mineral crystal and framed by a blue unidirectional rotating steel bezel with goldtone markings and coin edge detailing. This watch is driven by a Japanese automatic movement, which is visible through the see-through skeleton case back. It is rated water resistant to a full 200 meters.
Lastly, automatic movements come in different types, including movements that are Swiss-made, Japanese-made, and more.

Silver-tone hands with luminous fill make it easy to tell time day or night, and the slim second hand is detailed with a red accent. For added convenience, a day and date display are set at three o'clock. The polished stainless steel case extends to meet the black nylon strap, which wraps comfortably around the wrist and fastens with a traditional buckle. Water resistant to 30 feet (100 meters), this high-performance watch is perfect for everyday wear.
This is an automatic mechanical watch. Automatic watches do not operate on batteries, instead, they are powered automatically by the movement of the wearer’s arm. If the main spring in your automatic watch is not wound sufficiently, timekeeping may become less accurate. In order to maintain accuracy, wear the watch for 8 hours or more per day, or manually wind the main spring by turning the crown. When not in use, automatic watches may be kept charged with an automatic watch winder – a watch storage unit which may be purchased separately.

User questions & answers
Question: | How long will this watch continue to keep time if not worn? (I alternate between multiple watches) Thx |
Answer: | Approx?after 12 hour period. It's my everyday watch, but when I don't have it on, it's always stopping. |
Question: | On Amazons picture it shows the day as Dom(domingo for spanish speakers) Will I get the english version |
Answer: | From the product description: "Features include luminosity, sweeping second hand, canvas band, and a date window that can be formatted in English or Spanish" |
Question: | What size nato strap does this take? Do you utilize the existing springbars? Anyone recommendations |
Answer: | 18mm. Seiko springbars are great, I've never broken one. Google "snk809 wornandwound" for some pretty pics. Lots of NATO/Zulu/mil spec strap options but stay away from the cheap ones. Look for ones that thread stitch the seams and not just heat welded. Maratac, Clockwork Synergy, Nato International are good brands to start looking. |
Question: | What is the TRUE water resistance...there are 3 posted |
Answer: | 30 METERS (3 bar or atmospheres) which equals 100 FEET - the product description is incorrect and backwards. That being said, most 30m rated watches are okay for being quickly splashed for cleaning, but not rated to be WR for swimming pool or beach. This is not a dive watches which usually starts at 100m Water Resistant depths and have screw-down crowns. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the glass crystal on the watch rounded or flat |
Answer: | Its flat and smudges easily. Simply wash it under a faucet once in awhile. If there are No Dirt Particles or Sand I use a clean microfiber cloth to shine the crystal and watch band. Give it a first time manual wind using the screw in crown. My watch is keeping great time with my cell phone. Its not too fast or too slow.My screw in crown loosened on its own when wearing the watch. I check mine once a week and give it a manual wind. Mine was fine under a bathroom faucet using cold water. Unscrew the locking crown counter clockwise just until you feel the crown pop out a little. Now its in A. winding position. Next wind it clockwise 50 times. It should be good for 41 hrs. ( B. Date and C. Time do not wind the watch ) The customer service said screw the crown in until it stops but not too tight. My local jeweler said too tight can damage the crown. Do not adjust the Date between 9PM and 4AM to avoid malfunction. When setting the Time rotate the hands clockwise. Its better for the movement. |
Question: | Que batería usa |
Answer: | Es automático, le das cuerda la primera vez y luego se da cuerda solo con el movimiento de la mano. No necesita batería. |
Question: | How to adjust date indication |
Answer: | Pull the crown half way, that should allow you to adjust the date without changing time. If the minute moves, you passed the mid position. |
Question: | what is that little number on the side of the watch in black and white |
Answer: | Looks to me that you are inquiring abut the Date window. There are no other black and white numbers on the side of the watch. Sincerely |

An automatic watch is a mechanical watch that is self-winding. the movement of your wrist and body causes the rotor--a weight attached to an automatic winding mechanism--to wind up the watch. This automatic watch has 24 jewels that the gears turn on to protect the metal parts from grinding together. it needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time. If this happens, wind the crown ten times clockwise to start the watch and give it some reserve power. Tritnite is a luminous material with an extended glow exclusively developed by Invicta in Switzerland and added to their timepiece hands and markers. When exposed to regular daylight, it will hold its glow for about 20 hours.Pro Diver Collection Plunge into any horizon using the steadfast guidance of the Invicta Pro Diver.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is this watch called a Pro Diver and rated for 200m but says in the description not for diving |
Answer: | Well as basic "dive" inspired watchs go , a minimum of 100m is needed to be called a dive watch . Now this invicta with the seiko movement is a great watch . One of my daily wears . But as for a certified dive watch well , it must be iso 6425 rated. I have swam with my invicta and had no problems. Ocean , pool , snorkel. It has been in 75 foot of water. So it is 200 m rated. Now you can just by swimming create a 100 m of force on the watch . So that being said these watchs are all tested staticly sitting in calm water. Now my watch like my marathon GSAR and my seiko skx009p9 are iso 6425 rated and are dive certified. It is a lot to explain here , so look up iso 6425 and it will explain it all better. I hope that helps a little. This invicta is a great watch . The seiko movement in it is in some of their $500.00 watchs , so its a steal. Enjoy. |
Question: | I want to order an extra silicon band for model 23678 ...which one do i order |
Answer: | size the watch band. then order the size you need. |
Question: | What with of the strap it accepts? 20mm |
Answer: | 20 mm |
Question: | This is my first automatic watch. I keep it in a watch box and wear it 3-4 times a week. How do you keep this thing charged so it doesn't stop |
Answer: | You can manually wind the watch. Use of a watch winder will wear out your watch and cause it to be serviced more often. Most watchmakers recommend winding 10 to 20 times when you put it on and then let the motion of your arm wind it from there. |
