The Danner Mountain 600 features the Vibram SPE (Specialized Performance Elastomer) midsole, an all-new, technical compound engineered to deliver greater comfort and flexibility. Created with a unique co-polymer blend of synthetic natural rubber and EVA, this midsole improves resiliency, cushioning, and durability, while minimizing weight.

Vibram Fuga Outsole with MegaGrip

By combining the SPE midsole with the Vibram Fuga outsole, we were able to achieve the perfect balance between flexibility and traction. The pliable SPE midsole and flex lines of the Fuga outsole allow your foot to expand to a wider surface, while the unique self-adaptive lug pattern grips at multiple angles. This combination provides ultimate stability when traversing across rocky trails or scree. The entire outsole is injected with Vibram’s Megagrip rubber technology for ultimate hold on wet and dry terrain.

Drawing from years spent building durable leather hiking boots, we selected a specific suede for the Mountain 600, knowing that its lighter weight, waterproof and superior abrasion-resistant qualities would hold up to the rugged Pacific Northwest. Named for the warmest side of the Grand Canyon, the South Rim features a mesh and suede upper to breathe well on the hottest of days. REINTRODUCING AN '80S DANNER ORIGINAL

The original Danner Jag debuted in the 1980s as a lightweight alternative to our classic, heavy-duty hiking boots. After a few years on the trail supporting external frame backpacks and complementing denim cut-offs, the Jag was retired. Now 30 years later, we’ve reintroduced the Jag as a more versatile version of its former self. It’s comfortable both on the trail and around town and incorporates durable, lightweight materials, a cushioning EVA midsole, and a new waffle outsole that adapts to a wide variety of terrain. We’re proud to reintroduce this Danner original.

To ensure the Jag is comfortable in any situation, we approached its development with a focus on lightweight versatility. Starting at the core of the boot, we developed a new last that offers more room in the toe box and gives the boot an overall more comfortable and casual fit. An EVA midsole and low-lugged waffle outsole keep the boot light, while a removable OrthoLite footbed adds cushioning underfoot. The Vicious is not your traditional Danner. The desire for a lightweight, comfortable work boot challenged us to create something better. Throughout the design process, we used our wealth of knowledge and experience, but questioned our assumptions at every step. The Vicious is our most comfortable non-traditional work boot, and one that is built to last.

Ergonomic Fit

To truly create something new, one must start from the ground up. In footwear, that begins with the development of a footwear last, a solid form that literally shapes the fit and performance of the boot. When we designed the last for the Vicious, we took in part the ergonomic structure of the foot, focusing our attention on allowing the toes to naturally splay, and narrowing the heel to lock the foot in place. We then designed the composite safety toe specifically around the last, maintaing the integrity of its fit.

Unconventional Support

The Trailguard platform is a unique construction that saves weight and provides torsional strength by integrating an extremely durable TPU shank into the midsole, while the EVA midsole provides cushioning properties. By molding the midsole directly to the outsole and removing a seam, we eliminated weight and added strength. An extremely comfortable and supportive work boot, the Vicious challenges the traditional ideals of how a work boot should perform.

Our Standards

While the Vicious may not be a traditional work boot, the standards we adhere to are a long standing tradition to the Danner name. We extensively test each hide and only accept the highest grade of leather. We line the boot upper with waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX, and use the strongest, most rugged Vibram outsoles. The 917 sole is paired with Vibram’s SPE midsole which uses a unique co-polymer blend of both synthetic and natural rubber matched with EVA for a more durable midsole than plain EVA that’s still lightweight. To cap things off, we use waterproof breathable GORE-TEX lining so you can ignore rainy weather and focus on whatever your day might hold.

STITCHDOWN THAT’S READY FOR DOWNTOWN

Stitchdown construction has been one of our signature designs since the beginning and for good reason. Constructing our boots this way gives you better stability and provides greater durability. For the 917 series, we wanted to keep the benefits of stitchdown, while presenting a refined urban aesthetic. To do so, we combined the stitchdown construction with a cupsole process that wraps the midsole up around the stitching. This creates a more casual looking boot and allows for a little more flex to get that sneaker feel and comfort.
