Explore Beyond the Familiar
Inspired by decades of legendary hiking boots, we partnered with Vibram to forge a new path in hiking footwear for men and women. The Mountain 600 defines a new category in hiking boots we call Performance Heritage — combining our classic styling with lightweight innovation. Explore beyond the familiar.
Vibram SPE Midsole
The Danner Mountain 600 features the Vibram SPE (Specialized Performance Elastomer) midsole, an all-new, technical compound engineered to deliver greater comfort and flexibility. Created with a unique co-polymer blend of synthetic natural rubber and EVA, this midsole improves resiliency, cushioning, and durability, while minimizing weight.
Vibram Fuga Outsole with MegaGrip
By combining the SPE midsole with the Vibram Fuga outsole, we were able to achieve the perfect balance between flexibility and traction. The pliable SPE midsole and flex lines of the Fuga outsole allow your foot to expand to a wider surface, while the unique self-adaptive lug pattern grips at multiple angles. This combination provides ultimate stability when traversing across rocky trails or scree. The entire outsole is injected with Vibram’s Megagrip rubber technology for ultimate hold on wet and dry terrain.
Waterproof Protection
Drawing from years spent building durable leather hiking boots, we selected a specific suede for the Mountain 600, knowing that its lighter weight, waterproof and superior abrasion-resistant qualities would hold up to the rugged Pacific Northwest. We designed the boot to have minimal seams and lined it with Danner Dry to ensure it could withstand the wettest conditions.

STAY COOL WHEN THE TRAIL HEATS UP
Lightweight, breathable and comfortable were the goals when it came to developing the South Rim 600. Named for the warmest side of the Grand Canyon, the South Rim features a mesh and suede upper to breathe well on the hottest of days. Cool feet is only a portion of a good warm-weather boot, so we utilized the ultra cushy Vibram SPE midsole for energy rebound and Fuga outsole for traction. This combination provides all-day comfort and maximum grip for this versatile summer boot.
MAKING HOT SUMMER MILES COOLER
The South Rim balances lightweight breathability with Danner durability by combining brushed suede and strategically placed abrasion-resistant mesh paneling. Inside the boot is an air mesh liner that adds even more air circulation.
SUPERIOR GRIP NO MATTER THE TERRAIN
Grip and the confidence you'll have it when you need it are a must in any boot built for the outdoors. When it comes to engineering the perfect outsole for hiking, we turn to the experts at Vibram. The South Rim uses Vibram's Fuga outsole with specially formulated Megagrip rubber compound. Renowned for its superior traction on both wet and dry surfaces, the Fuga outsole also has self adapting lugs that form and grip to changing terrain.
MORE ENERGY FOR MORE MILES
At the core of our South Rim boots is the Vibram SPE midsole. Developed with our partners at Vibram, this midsole uses a rubberized EVA material that is two times more resilient than traditional EVA and less susceptible to breaking down. With enhanced energy rebound, you'll have less foot fatigue and more energy for whatever challenges the trail brings.

User questions & answers
Question: | Hello, i wear a size 9.5 in nike free and redwing boots. would a size 9.5 fit me. also, if i want to wear wool socks, would i have to size up. tq |
Answer: | My foot measures 27.5cm x 11cm and I range between a size 9 and 10 in most shoes. I got these boots in a size 9 and they fit snug, not tight, but I would not be able to wear thick socks with them. They have quite a narrow toe box on them. If in doubt I would suggest sizing up a little, especially if you will be wearing thick socks. Great boots though. |
Question: | Are these more narrow or wide |
Answer: | I find them on the narrow side. I have a normal foot but can't wear these boots with thick socks yet. Waiting for them to pack out a little. |
Question: | Is the suede easy to maintain? Thinking about getting the oyster... Might get dirty super easily |
Answer: | Depends on how you intend to use the shoe. It will get dirty and they can be wiped clean. However over time it will not stay looking new. Hope this helps. |
Question: | was it made in China |
Answer: | The sole is made in Vietnam. I believe the upper is made in USA but I'm not 100% sure |

REINTRODUCING AN '80S DANNER ORIGINAL
The original Danner Jag debuted in the 1980s as a lightweight alternative to our classic, heavy-duty hiking boots. After a few years on the trail supporting external frame backpacks and complementing denim cut-offs, the Jag was retired. Now 30 years later, we’ve reintroduced the Jag as a more versatile version of its former self. It’s comfortable both on the trail and around town and incorporates durable, lightweight materials, a cushioning EVA midsole, and a new waffle outsole that adapts to a wide variety of terrain. We’re proud to reintroduce this Danner original.
RETRO STYLE AND MODERN PERFORMANCE FOR DAILY COMFORT
To ensure the Jag is comfortable in any situation, we approached its development with a focus on lightweight versatility. Starting at the core of the boot, we developed a new last that offers more room in the toe box and gives the boot an overall more comfortable and casual fit. An EVA midsole and low-lugged waffle outsole keep the boot light, while a removable OrthoLite footbed adds cushioning underfoot. All told, you get a vintage style boot that fits more like a modern sneaker to keep you light on your feet and ready for what the day holds.
COME RAIN OR SHINE
Wet feet quickly sap the fun from any day. That’s why we built the Jag Mid with our signature Danner Dry 100% waterproof membrane and the Jag Low with a breathable mesh lining. Keep the moisture out with Danner Dry when the skies open up, and let heat quickly escape from the breathable mesh lining when the weather turns and temperatures rise. So no matter where you roam, rain or shine, your feet will be comfortable with the Jag.
SAME GREAT BOOT, JUST 30 YEARS BETTER.
When we decided to bring the Jag back, we saw it as an opportunity to keep all the greatness of the original but refine it with 30 years worth of advancement and hard-won knowledge. We refined the original pattern just enough to be slightly more streamlined and integrate more modern materials without losing its quintessential '80s aesthetic. Perfecting the colors was a must and the original Jag was a key source of inspiration as we selected full-grain leathers and highly durable nylon to bring the updated pattern to life. Lastly, we used a waffle-style outsole, common on vintage athletic shoes, to give universal grip from trail to town. The result is an updated Jag that proudly reflects the original's 1980s vibe and carries on its legacy.

CAPABLE FOR WHATEVER YOUR WEEK HOLDS
Looking to the archives of the '80s and '90s, we merged the style of two of our most popular hike and work boots to create the Skyridge - an extremely capable, daily wear boot. We updated a retro pattern with strategically placed leather in the upper for a more modern touch and increased durability. Then we infused the midsole and outsole with a longer-lasting rubber to allow for off-pavement exploration. This ultimately leads to the design of a clean, modern boot that is light enough for daily use, but rugged enough for adventure whenever the moment strikes.
CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COMFORT
The Skyridge uses an exclusive outsole with multi-directional lugs to give you secure grip on whatever terrain your day brings. Made from durable rubber, it’ll last for many miles of pavement and trail. We paired the outsole with an EVA midsole to provide just the right mix of cushioning and energy rebound. With the addition of a removable Ortholite footbed, the Skyridge will be your new go-to for a comfortably capable boot morning after morning, weekday and weekend.

User questions & answers
Question: | Very nice boot but how high past your ankle does this boot reach |
Answer: | These boots have a 5 inch shaft on them - they rise 5 inches from where the boot itself connects to the sole. So, your entire ankle will be covered and supported when these boots are completely laced up. With that said, I would say that these boots will rise about 2.5 to 3 inches above your ankle - depending on how big of a person you are. |
Question: | Is this boot a safety toe or steel toe boot |
Answer: | No. It is not a safety nor steel toe boot. |
Question: | DO THEY RUN SMALL |
Answer: | These are the best shoes for cold and rain. They sizes run true. I wear a size 11 and that is what I purchased. The last pair I purchased was at a specility store and the only size they had was 11 1/2. The sales clerk talked me into purchasing them. I could not wear them untill I purchased some special heal cushions that have 3M backing and placed on the upper inside back of the shoe. Hope this helps! |
Question: | I see blogs of these being made in China and that they've cut quite a few corners in quality. True or False |
Answer: | agree, i'm on the phone with amazon now,, after only two seasons at best for few months for two winters.. the soles wore out smooth from casual use..and worse was the split crack completely across the mid sole ..(doubt it is even vibram sole percentage wise..And for proof to my review.. the original laces are fine as with the upper bott materials..again these soles on these radical 452 gtx wear out prematurely .. within two seasons maybe sooner if not just for casual use.Going to phone the company tomorrow to file a product complaint as well! truth be told! i know what to expect from a quality boot..Danner has been duping cunsumers.. (six pairs tested..i won't buy another radical unless it is guarenteed |

User questions & answers
Question: | How long did it take for them to soften around the ankle |
Answer: | Day 1. These are amazing boots. However, be sure to order 1/2 size up from the coyote ones, since they have the waterproof lining. There's just a little less space in toes because of that. I added some SuperFeet Carbon insoles, too, and wear them, or the coyote pair routinely for 12-hour days with no issue. Best boots of this kind I've ever had. |
Question: | are they breathable |
Answer: | They breath ok,but your feet will sweat a little by the end of the day, I love these boots |
Question: | Is this water resistant |
Answer: | They claim it but it doesn't work. My feet are sitting in pools of water. Not only do they not do a good job of keeping water out, they do a poor job of draining. Double negative. I'd post a picture if i could. Nothing more than a mile hike on the side of a mountain after a rain pushing through wet brush. No puddles were stepped in. Not extremely happy with that. On the plus side they're pretty comfortable with a pair of Sole performance thick insoles and they gripped wet granite rocks very well which are big plusses. |
Question: | Are you using US size or uk size |
Answer: | U.S. Now that I've worn them for a while they are comfortable and have stretched some. I wish I had ordered .5 size larger or wide/extra eide for the toe area |

User questions & answers
Question: | Would these be too heavy for all day hikes |
Answer: | These are great boots from the first time you put them on. They feel broke in right away. They should be good for all day hikes. These are definitely one of the better pairs of hiking boots that I have ever owned. |
Question: | How high is the heel on these boots (in inches)? Thanks, Dan |
Answer: | I measured it with a tape and it is 1 3/8" tall. The ball of the foot measured about 7/8". |
Question: | Anyone used these with orthotic inserts? want to make sure there's room to put them in. i wear an 11 normally. get the 11 ee instead |
Answer: | I used prescription orthotics in two pair of these and they're great. Take out the inserts and get 1/2 size larger and wide width |
Question: | How long are the laces that come with the boot? I'm going to order kevlar laces with them |
Answer: | Just replaced my laces with some 1/8" (3mm) diameter utility cord (poly sheath nylon core 400# rated) and cut them to 58" and they are plenty long. Could probably cut them to 54" and they'd be fine. The 50 feet of cord I picked up will probably last a lifetime for these boots, which are holding up well but the edges of the eyelets tend chew up laces. Original pair lasted a few months and replaced with 550 cord which was too thick and again the outer sheath wore through but after quite some time. The 3mm cord seems to work well. |

Answer: | Hi This boot has a VIBRAM sole. More rubber in it. THey DO last longer than manufacturer's soles |

Answer: | No they would not be to heavy in my opinion. I wear them for work everyday and I am on my feet 10+ hours a day, up and down ladders and all over properties. They are just as comfortable at7pm as they are at 6am |

Some Boots Climb Mountains. Others Climb Worksites.
The Vicious is not your traditional Danner. The desire for a lightweight, comfortable work boot challenged us to create something better. Throughout the design process, we used our wealth of knowledge and experience, but questioned our assumptions at every step. The Vicious is our most comfortable non-traditional work boot, and one that is built to last.
Ergonomic Fit
To truly create something new, one must start from the ground up. In footwear, that begins with the development of a footwear last, a solid form that literally shapes the fit and performance of the boot. When we designed the last for the Vicious, we took in part the ergonomic structure of the foot, focusing our attention on allowing the toes to naturally splay, and narrowing the heel to lock the foot in place. We then designed the composite safety toe specifically around the last, maintaing the integrity of its fit.
Unconventional Support
The Trailguard platform is a unique construction that saves weight and provides torsional strength by integrating an extremely durable TPU shank into the midsole, while the EVA midsole provides cushioning properties. By molding the midsole directly to the outsole and removing a seam, we eliminated weight and added strength. An extremely comfortable and supportive work boot, the Vicious challenges the traditional ideals of how a work boot should perform.
Our Standards
While the Vicious may not be a traditional work boot, the standards we adhere to are a long standing tradition to the Danner name. We extensively test each hide and only accept the highest grade of leather. We line the boot upper with waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX, and use the strongest, most rugged Vibram outsoles. We have been upholding these standards since the very beginning and will for years to come. The Vicious is no exception.

User questions & answers
Question: | What kind of life can I expect to get out of the foam sole |
Answer: | I’ve been a Danner fan for years but this model didn’t live up to the Danner name. My soles lost their cushion within 6 months. |
Question: | Are they too warm to wear all day long |
Answer: | A full grain leather boot with gortex is not going to breath well but I don’t find them uncomfortably warm for all day use. Maybe if it were a hot summer day, but otherwise they’re just fine. |
Question: | How warm will these keep your feet? I live in Cleveland, so I need good boots for when the temp gets below freezing |
Answer: | Entirely depends on the socks you pair them with. I suggest a good merino wool sock (darn tough, or more budget friendly - people socks) and they’ll be comfortable from 50F down to around 0F. |
Question: | Where is danger vertigo 917 made |
Answer: | Made in Vietnam |

DESIGNED FOR ADVENTURE BOTH ON AND OFF THE GRID
The demands of vast, undeveloped expanses are high, but the city presents its own unique challenges. Adventures occur just the same both in-city and out, and weather will always remain an unpredictable companion. The 917 series was built for this environment, to thrive where concrete and steel rule the day while offering protection from the ever-changing elements. Whether you're counting down till Friday to head for open country or planning to spend your nights urban exploring, the Vertigo, Feather Light and Tramline are light enough for the day-to-day with waterproof protection when you need it. Featuring an exclusive, high-traction Vibram outsole, GORE-TEX lining, and our renowned durability paired with minimalistic aesthetics, you'll look good and be ready.
DANNER TRADITION FOR THE MODERN TRAIL
While the 917 series opens a new avenue for lightweight, everyday boots, it's important they represent Danner's legendary quality and style. The Vertigo 917 and Feather Light 917 carry iconic Danner design elements and purpose-built features similar to our outdoor boots. Lace-to-toe functionality with our iconic D-rings, high traction Vibram outsoles, and stringently tested leather are all used in the construction of our 917 boots. This series takes what we know, what we've learned, and what our customers rely on to adapt, shape, and modernize each step.
GOOD BOOTS START WITH THE BEST
We've always found it a lot easier to build a premium boot when you start with premium components and the 917 series carries that mindset forward. Our close relationship with Vibram helped us create a solid foundation for the line with an exclusive outsole utilizing their XS Trek rubber. This rubber compound balances comfort and stability with exemplary durability and traction in conditions on concrete and trails alike. The 917 sole is paired with Vibram’s SPE midsole which uses a unique co-polymer blend of both synthetic and natural rubber matched with EVA for a more durable midsole than plain EVA that’s still lightweight. To cap things off, we use waterproof breathable GORE-TEX lining so you can ignore rainy weather and focus on whatever your day might hold.
STITCHDOWN THAT’S READY FOR DOWNTOWN
Stitchdown construction has been one of our signature designs since the beginning and for good reason. Constructing our boots this way gives you better stability and provides greater durability. For the 917 series, we wanted to keep the benefits of stitchdown, while presenting a refined urban aesthetic. To do so, we combined the stitchdown construction with a cupsole process that wraps the midsole up around the stitching. This creates a more casual looking boot and allows for a little more flex to get that sneaker feel and comfort.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these boots have a shank |
Answer: | Yes but soft (doubt it is steel but works on a shovel). Soles wear fast. But excellent soft and supportive leather little to no brake in. |
Question: | Are these boots water proof |
Answer: | No, these boots do not have a waterproof liner. |
Question: | Do these boots have a warranty |
Answer: | There was not anything in the box/ paperwork that came with the boot. I know Vasque stopped there lifetime warranty many years ago but I'm not sure about Danner. |
Question: | Can you use mink oil on these |
Answer: | I did |
