Answer:	While I have not actually submerged it in water, I can say with some certainty that is is NOT water proof. All of the pockets are open, and the zippered pocket isn't sealed.

Answer:	It's fairly light, although I have an additional retractable ring that I have added for my keys. This has worked out so well for me I purchased a second one as a back-up, if I need it.
