Answer:	This hat is not water proof but I wore it all summer to the beach/pool IN and out of the water. I never took it off. It faded some from the salt and sun but still holds up after playing in the surf. I have an O'Neal hat that is the same shape but the material feels more synthetic (Quicksilver is more canvas/cotton like) and the O'Neal color is still black. The O'Neal also sheds water better but is also not water proof. I like the Quicksilver better because the rim is sligtly larger giving me a bit more sun protection.

How to Measure Your Head

To measure your head size, all you need is either a measuring tape.

• Wrap the tape measure around the largest part of your head until the two ends meet at the center of your forehead just above your eyebrows. Firmly hold the tape mid-forehead with your finger, not too tightly or too loose.
• The goal is to determine precisely where your hat will sit for the most comfortable fit. Take note of the measurement from your measuring tape and use it to find your corresponding size on our hat sizing chart.

Sizing Tips

• If your measurement is in between sizes on the hat size chart, choose the next larger size.
• Even though our hat sizes are standard across the USA, there are various factors that can affect the fit of the hat, from the hat’s material to how much hair you have. This is all the more reason to go a size up – a slightly roomier hat is much more comfortable and easier to pad than a hat that’s too tight and gives you a headache.

The Difference Between Men’s and Women’s Hats

Answer:	I wouldn't advise it. You could push the netted sides down but it might never go back to the normal hat position. Maybe it it was dampened and "blocked",But I wouldn't take that chance.

Answer:	I never measure it. But enough to protect your face, neck and ears. Yes, the brim is larger at the back. I have bought 4 of them.You will not be disappointed.

Answer:	I have several hats all about 7 5/8. Lately I have let my hair grow much longer increasing my head size a little. Thought I would try the XL in this OR. OR's XL is definitely above 7 5/8. I would say 7 3/4 at least and perhaps 7 7/8. There is an elastic cord in the back that adjusts to make the hat smaller by at about two sizes but adjusting for smaller also bunches the brim in the rear to kind of a V shape. If you wear a 7 5/8 or 7 1/2 I think the Large size would be correct. Hats are tricky and you need to get used to how they fit in terms of snug or ok but loose. The brim on these is soft and stretchable so they fit loose with flexing. Because they are adjustable you will have some leeway. If you get one that you are certain doesn't fit return for another size? My other hats are Tilleys so you must order exact size with no adjustment. These OR hats are very nice but a little more on the casual size with a much larger brim than I expected. You need the chin strap if any wind is blowing and catches that wide brim.

Answer:	This hat is One Size fits Most with some elastic drawcord adjustment. It should cover head circumference from 22-23 1/2 inches (size 7 to 7 1/2) Many of our customers with the 24-inch head are wearing them as well. If it doesn't work, you can always return it. Question:	Does the hat have a spf rating
Answer:	The brim is only 4". If you need something wider, look elsewhere. Save your time of having to send it back.
Question:	Does it have the CoolMax band that other Henschel hats have
Answer:	Joe, I suspect that it will. I generally get a 7.25 or medium and this hat is so large on me that I have to put a bandana around my my head and then put the hat on. So I would think the it would do O K on an extra large head. No way to tell but to try it.
Question:	How to measure and what size coordinates
Answer:	While this hat won't help at all to keep the sin off your face, it does a wonderful job keeping the sun off! :) it is pretty sturdy. Made of straw with a black fabric liner. I would recommend for a lifeguard.
Question:	Has anyone actually packed the hat in a suitcase? How did it survive the trip
Answer:	It covers your face pretty much (wide brim). So as a sun protector works good, but a cowboy hat would work better to increase someone's attractiveness.

Answer:	I wear a 7 -1/2 normally, which is a XL in this hat. You can measure your head and there is a hat size chart on line that will tell you exactly.

Answer:	I wouldn't recommend packing it in a suitcase. I like the hat but had it messed up in the back seat during a trip in Florida.
