Answer:	No. What you do is, as you close the umbrella, it goes up and the water is collected inside the "bowl" then you just dump out the water. Just shake out the umbrella and it stands with the open end downward. That way water droplets that are left on the umbrella will drip down onto the ground or floor. It's very cool. I have two.
