Answer:	if you check the dimensional drawing for the fixture the center hole is .51 this = 10/1000 larger then 1/2 " But I have seen many lite fixtures and fans that have this setup is kinda a universal thing the nipple is 1/8 NPS that is what is in the kit. your nipple is .5 which is close in size to the 1/8 NPS I can't say drill the hole out that I would is double check everything it may be easier to just buy a reducer bushing Mr. Teddy B answered on February 5, 2018

Answer:	I wouldn't recommend. It is wider on bottom and narrow towards the top and not wide enough to carry binders and books. it is pretty lightweight in construction, so not recommended to carry books.
