OTOH you MIGHT be able to put a piece of sheetmetal into the pack that's 13.4" wide - if you need to carry sheetmetal around - but as you did, I wanted something for the huge beast of an Alien 17. No way.

Answer:	It would go in there but it will be uncomfortable. I would not put more than 1/2 liter in any of the side pockets to make sure they would not fall out. But I'll use it to go on a plane not for hiking.

Answer:	Bought this based on glowing durability recommendations and it has proven true or me. I carry reasonably heavy loads for short trips multiple times a week and the pack looks near perfect after 5+ years. Also, it is comfortable under a heavy load. The strap padding and handle are well designed. My only complaint being the durability trade off is heaviness, about 3.6# empty. Am looking now for a new pack that has the strength/durability of this one, but lighter in weight.

Answer:	My laptop measures 16 x 12.5 x 1 and it did NOT fit even though this bag's measurements for the interior laptop compartment says: 17 X 12.5 X 2.5 inches. The zippers could not close over a corner of the laptop. It's because the bag is smaller at the top than at the bottom. The laptop is an Alienware Area 51m. Bummer. I had to return the bag.

Answer:	The handles at the top are 1.5" and at top where you can snap them together to carry as luggage go to 3/4". The straps at the back to use as backpack: padded area is 2.5" and padding with fabric is 1/4" firm padding. (Quite substantial. I've never had an issue with it cutting into my back no matter the weight). The luggage strap is 8.5" when flat, so you will need to figure that the luggage pull up handle has some depth to it. I've never had a problem no matter what sized luggage I used. This backpack is awesome; best purchase ever. It goes everywhere with me and has easily traveled outside of the US. It fits under the seat, and the side pockets for water bottles has elastic to keep it falling free (unless of course you turn the backpack upside down.. true story) and even accommodates my phone/keys for those "emergency put it somewhere because your hands are needed elsewhere" occurrences. Answer:	Yes. It barely fits, but my husband gets his 17" 2009 MacBook Pro in there. It's meant for 15" laptops which is why it's tight for a 17".
Question:	Is there included laptop sleeve or padding
Answer:	yes. the sleeve is attached towards the back and padded. also it's slightly raised from the bottom of the bag so that you don't slam your laptop on the group when the bag is on the ground
Question:	The description says "100% Polyester", but the picture is the canvas/leather bag. If I buy the black on black, will it be canvas and leather
Answer:	It will not be leather, I purchased the olive green one and it's like a canvas material only more authentic. And the straps are rubber no leather at all on this bag
Question:	Which color is the best for a little hipster grandson
Answer:	Think the key is the rubber straps. They're pretty hip.
