User questions & answers

Question: Does it worth the extra price versus the old model
Answer: Yes. Not a big price difference, and you get a rain cover and extra lower compression straps. Over the 8-10 years you’ll use this bag, the extra cost is nil
Question: Are the dimensions of the pack when it is full
Answer: Yes, although I'd say it's a bit deeper than 6 inches when loaded up to the max.
Question: How do you measure for size
Answer: You can visit the Osprey website, there is a guide to measuring for your size. You may need someone to help since you'll be measuring down the center of your back, but it saves you the trouble of driving to an outdoor store to get measured for a product that you don't intend to buy from them.
Question: What does the sizing mean? Is it how much the bag can hold or is it just for fit
Answer: Size means ho the bag fits your body. This website and video explains how to self-measure---it's helpful to go in store as well and try different sizes on. https://www.osprey.com/us/en/fitting-learning/size-fit Note: sometimes the sizing does affect capacity. E.g. the men's mall size of this bag is only 60 liters.

User questions & answers

Question: Can the interior sleeve hold a 3 liter water reservoir? (I noticed in the "frequently bought together" section it is paired with a 2 liter bladder
Answer: Not stated but it is creatine monohydrate and that is why they would not make such a statement. Mark. Herbalishous. Wayne, Pa
Question: Is it foldable/packable
Answer: Well, I tried it a few times and it triggered a distinct depressed feeling. I no longer take it.
Question: How many liters is it
Answer: NITRIX 2.0 is an updated version of the original NITRIX which is no longer produced. We refreshed the look of the label when we updated the Facts Panel to comply with new requirements. The NITRIX 2.0 formula has not changed.
Question: Aside from the switch from grey to black for the side fabric panels, are there any other differences between this and the previous version
Answer: Not 100% sure but I think all of these contain ingredients that your body converts to Nitric Oxide; that’s why they are termed precursors. Also, IMO, the 2.0 formulation of Nitrix is no where near as good as the original.

User questions & answers

Question: Will the laptop pocket fit a 17.3 inch laptop
Answer: For Osprey pack sizing, the most important measurement will be your torso length. This is the distance between your C7 Vertebrae (the bone that sticks out at the base of your neck) and your Iliac Crest (the top of your hip bone). Measure the vertical distance between these two points to find your torso length. From there, sizing for this pack is as follows:Torso Length: 14"-17" (35.5 cm - 43 cm) - Size: S/MTorso Length: 18"-19" (46 cm - 48 cm) - Size: S/M or M/LTorso Length: 20"-22" (51 cm - 56 cm) - Size: M/L
Question: If I'm allowed 2 carry-on bags, do you I could get through with 2 of them? Both of them won't be fully stuffed
Answer: Absolutely!! I am using it now for those airlines and it is PERFECT.
Question: I'm a male, 5'10 and 140 lbs. 30 inch waist, which size would fit me best
Answer: It really depends on how long your torso is and what the structure of your neck and shoulders is like. But, it should be fine.
Question: Will it be ok as hand luggage for cheap airlines like Ryanair or Easyjet
Answer: i bring a lint roller with me.

Osprey Porter 30 Travel Backpack

Osprey

Based on 805 reviews Check latest price

Product description

With padded sidewalls, convenient organization and a substantial suspension for backpack-style carry that disappears when checking bags, the Porter Series has set the standard for deluxe duffels. This season brings a relocated and dedicated zippered laptop and tablet pocket—and functional storage options for items both big and small—with multiple access points. When a duffel isn’t enough and backpacking bags are too much, the Porter is the answer.

  • Meets carry-on size restrictions for most airlines (19.5H X 13W X 10D inches)
  • Large U-zip luggage-style access to main compartment - 30L total volume
  • Shoulder straps and hipbelt are stowable converting the bag from a backpack carry to duffel-style
  • Protected rear panel lockable zip laptop/tablet sleeve for quick access at security or while traveling (fits up to most 15 inch laptops)
  • Front panel organization pocket for easy access to small travel items
  • D-ring attachments for adding a shoulder strap (sold separately)

User questions & answers

Question: Does the Osprey 30 have a bottom zipper compartment for shoes
Answer: I'm 5'2" and have a petite frame, and the bag works very well for me. The straps are highly adjustable, and the "back area" itself is not terribly broad. From a size perspective, I think this would be a great option for children.
Question: how many packing cubes could you fit in to this
Answer: I have flown with this bag a couple of dozen times and always store it under the seat in front. Whether it fits depends to some extent on the plane and seat configuration where you are sitting. I've even fit the Porter 30 under the seat of commuter planes like the CRJ 700 Remember, this is a soft sided bag so depending on what you have inside, it will conform to its enclosure. If the Porter 30 is filled to the brim with hard items that are not malleable, it may not fit. I generally slide my Porter 30 into the seat in front horizontally so that it doesn't stick out all. Sometimes I have to jam it in, but I can usually do that with little difficulty.
Question: Is this bag suitable for a 10 year old girl and 11 year old boy
Answer: Compatible with: Aether/Ariel Series + Volt/Viva Series + Ace 75 + Shuttle Series + Sojourn Series + Farpoint 80 + Porter Series
Question: Will it fit under seat in airplane
Answer: Depends on the size of the kit. The bottom of the main compartment is about 8.5” by 4” at the very bottom. Give or take a half inch here or there. Hope that helps.

User questions & answers

Question: How much does this weigh
Answer: No
Question: There’s two different specs listed in the description. One says will fit up to 17” and the other says up to
Answer: It might be a bit of a tight fit. The length of the opening for the laptop sleeve is about 12 inches. Hope this helps.
Question: Will this bag stand on its own after packed
Answer: This pack is not waterproof but is water resistant and can shed light rain due to the nature of the materials used. For heavy rain, we recommend adding a rain cover for extra protection.
Question: Does this backpack compress enough that I would be able to fit it under the seat of an airplane as a personal item
Answer: That is somewhat dependent on the specific laptop dimensions as laptops are generally measured by screen size diagonally not necessarily by the total dimensions with the laptop casing. However, it should be able to fit in the pack without any issue. The only potential issue is the padded sleeve may not cover the entire laptop but it should still protect the laptop plenty well. We hope that helps!

Product description

Osprey’s Farpoint 55 is the perfect companion for a long weekend. Feel free to add an extra sweater and a pair of waterproof boots; this pack is designed to handle loads up to 50 pounds. The LightWire frame suspension transfers the load from harness to hipbelt. A mesh backpanel improves ventilation and the mesh on the harness and hipbelt reduces chafing under load. The entire suspension stows away under a zippered panel creating a sleek silhouette for transport. Inside there’s a mesh pocket for small items. Dual compression straps keep cargo from shifting during transit. Outside you’ll find a zippered front panel slash pocket to keep you organized and sewn attachment points to lash on extra gear. The main Farpoint 55 pack comes with a detachable Farpoint daypack to carry the essential for a hike in the hills or an excursion downtown. No matter where you go, the Farpoint is backed by Osprey's All Mighty Guarantee.

User questions & answers

Question: Is the 55L capacity with or without the daypack
Answer: The sizes are pretty much the same but a S/M better suit's shorter people. My girlfriend is 5'2" and we ordered S/M VOLUME DIMENSIONS WEIGHTS/M 3173 IN3 / 52 L 24H X 13W X 12D IN. 3.75 LBS.M/L 3356 IN3 / 55 L 25H X 13W X 12D IN. 3.9 LBS.
Question: Did anyone has an experience using this bag as a carry on in any of Europe budget airlines such as Ryanair
Answer: I have traveled through SE Asia and Mediterranean Europe with this pack and have only had to check it one time (flying from Hoi An to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam). I have flown on several different airlines in that time. Unfortunately, I can't speak to Ryanair, as I have never flown with them. I would suggest not having it on your back. For some reason, it seems smaller with the straps stowed and the day pack removed. The gate attendants are much less likely to give you a second look that way. Typically, I keep everything I will need during my flight in the day pack, and put that under the seat, and I stow the large pack in the overhead bin.
Question: hi, can you please tell me the size difference between small/medium and medium/large. thanks
Answer: They are for the Farpoint/Fairview daypack that zips onto and comes with the 55L and 70L packs. Unfortunately, they are not sold separately but if you do have one then it can attach to the front of the 40L pack as well
Question: Have most people been successful using this as a carry-on with the daypack removed
Answer: You can use this pack if you are plus sized. If the hip belt doesn’t fit, you just need to ask for a belt extender from osprey. You fill out a form On their website and they will mail it to you free of charge. Very simple process.
