Answer: The must be, because I took some scissors and snipped the elastic right at the big seam, through the fabric. no unraveling and I have done this on three pairs. The elastic is only about 1/4 inch. I am about 6 feet tall, and no problem with them being too long, although I have some Champion long pants that are thinner, that aren't elastic and a couple of those are too long and a couple aren't. Thing is, you never know if a pair you buy a year ago was even made in the same mill, I commented how I bought my third pair after a year (and a different color), and they are cut from a completely different pattern, are huge in the bottom and thigh areas, really huge, although it doesn't create a problem, that is just how things work today with factories all over the place.
