Just make sure your steam relief valve has the tab that sticks out on the side. It's the tab you turn to open the steam valve. The charging rate appears to be at about the same speed as charging the phone without the Smart Battery Case. When the iphone battery has been used after the Smart Battery has been exhausted, plugging in the charger causes both batteries both be charged at the same time.
