Answer:	Haven't tried to take it off but given that they don't sell the other backplates, you likely aren't meant to. The accessories they mention it being compatible with are likely the wallet attachment and stuff like that.

We have done extreme testing so that other people don't have to, and we try hard to remind our customers - both with a disclaimer tickbox at checkout and a warning card when they receive their product - that the cases should not be thrown or dropped deliberately. We do not advertise that the cases or screen protectors make phones indestructible and unfortunately manufacturers are making phones increasingly fragile.
