Answer:	Mine was for the 13 retina. It came with no vent slits on the bottom. The entire thing is 2 solid pieces with no vents. The cut-outs are well-placed though. I think the old version has vent slits, but this "newer version" does not. I can't say for certain for the 12 though.

I have it on the new MacBook with touch bar, but don't get it. I've never written a review, or answered a amazon question, but I'm really disappointed in this product. I've had incase products before, and they have been great. this product is horrible. I could barely get it on the computer, and the corners of the case have literally chipped out. This is not my fault. I don't Tavel with my computer, and am extremely gentle with it. If I didn't have the case on my computer, there wouldn't be a single mark, where the case has failed and chipped out and become sharp. horrible product. and its expensive. please don't support this joke of a product, at this price.

The two rear corners cracked off and the side clip holders broke that keep it secured to the computer. Also, the keyboard cover markings are not compatible with the modified keyboard of the newest model. There are different keys on some and the letters don't line up on others. I don't know how to get replacements or what their warranty is.
