| Answer: | Lightweight makes it easier to carry for long periods of time - great for hikes or in places where you know you'll be tired after taking pictures all day. Carbon fiber will not be as cold to the touch in a cold environment. It will also absorb vibration better. On the down side, it is expensive. It must be built really well and glued really well especially where the carbon fiber meets the metal. Carbon Fiber will survive ultraviolet exposure/sun exposure well enough that it should not be an issue. You can also always cover it with a bandana or hat when out in the field. I'd go with carbon fiber but I'd want to make sure it's manufactured well. |

If you are looking for light equipment and don't mind spending twice the money, purchase the carbon model, if instead you don't carry something more than weight and you prefer to save financially, purchase aluminum model. It is only a Council. |

| Answer: | As someone who has the exact same configuration, the short answer is yes. The longer answer is... depends on the type of photography. If you're shooting wildlife or quick day shots then not a problem. If you're shooting at night with long exposures, then this might not be sufficient. Honestly, I haven't still found a solution for shooting at night with the Tamron. I've tried to use this along with the TY 350 lens support and 30lb sandbags but it still doesn't work the way I want it to. anything over a couple of seconds will blur. |

| Answer: | This gimbal, like many, uses the Arca-Swiss clamp / plate system. The gimbal has the clamp portion, so you'd attach a plate to the camera. HOWEVER, a gimbal is intended to support a long lens (imo 35mm / FX equivalent of 200mm - minimum - & more likely 3-500 mm) in such a manner as to allow following mobile subjects. Typically birds in flight (BIF). Search the web for examples of gimbals in use & you'll see what I mean. Secondarily: 1) Unless you rotate the plate 90* the camera is going to be aimed sideways wrt the gimbal. 2) You'll likely encounter issues with clearance between the gimbal arm and the camera body with many cameras the size of a large DX-format and up. Mirrorless might work.TL;DR: Why would you want to? |
