| Answer: | being aluminum and a casting it is hard to say.what i would do is secure it in a vice with cardboard wrapped around the arm so you do not mar the arm.see if you can tap it with a piece of wood and a hammer.a little at a time.if it snaps off go to ace hardware and buy some pc7 epoxy,it is a 2 part epoxy that mixes like clay,it will not run and is thick.grind the ends to a point and fill in with pc7.you can smooth it with a wet finger.you may need to hold it in place with tape at each end of the reel seat.it takes 24 hours to dry and can be sanded and painted,i have used this to repair a cracked block.hope this helps. |

| Answer: | Braided line is fine for this reel. For the CAT1000FC, Shimano recommends 10lb (95yd capacity), 15lb (85yd capacity), or 20lb (65yd capacity) braid. You could also use 6lb or 8lb if you'd like more line capacity. Personally, I use 15lb on my 1000 size reels when I am fishing near heavy cover or around obstructions. If you get snagged with the 15lb line, you can just pull the lure/rig until the hook bends and releases. |
