Question:	Can you use the power supply one, without the power supply if you wanted to
Answer:	Yes the USB hub will work fine without the AC power adapter. You will need the AC adapter if you want to charge more power-intensive accessories like iPads, etc. that require higher current or if you want to charge 4 devices at one time.
Question:	How long is USB3 cable
Answer:	measured mine at about 1 meter. I really like this thing. The two red high-power only ports are oriented 180 degrees from the USB 3.0 ports so you physically can't mix them up either.
Question:	How many ports can I have active at one time, without overloading the single port of the computer
Answer:	You can use all 4. However, If you need to utilize the speed of 3.0 x4 you will need that kind of throughput on the port you attach it to and this device as well (not sure of max throughput). Most USB devices don't need that kind of speed (such as web cam, keyboards, mice) For instance, if you hook up 3 external SSD drives and VR headset, you will potentially bottleneck on speed. The devices will still function, just not at 100% speed.
Question:	what's the different between the one with the external power adapter and the one without
Answer:	With my USB 3 Ports on my Acer TC-780 front panel ports, I can power all four ports with thumb drives. When I tried the same with a Dell U473D Slim Multimedia Keyboard with 2 USB Port I had to use the pawer supply that came with the HB-UMP3 4-port Powered USB hub. I would advise getting the powered hub because you don't know if your USB port will support enough devices without the power supply unit.

Answer:	The power cord is 4 feet long. The attached USB cable that plugs into the computer is 18 inches long.
Question:	What are the main differences between using a power adapter and not using a power adapter
Answer:	Standard USB ports are .500mA for USB 1 and 2, and 900mA for USB 3. 4 ports drawing power over over that total, and something goes power-hungry, if you plug this in without powering it. Basically, the preceding is how much juice it has to distribute to 4 ports on this unit. Not plugged in, it's 500mA. Plugged in, it gets .500mA from the port it is plugged into, plus the 3000mA (3A) the power supply is giving. Note that the high-power port description says "up to" 2400mA (2.4A). Why? Even plugged in, 4 items drawing .500maA (=2A) would leave only 1.5A left for this high-power 2.4A port (if these things add perfectly and are perfectly efficient) or otherwise another device is not getting some. You CAN turn off ports on this hub, of course, if you are not using what is plugged in. 4 mice? No prob. 4 HDD's? Plug it in.

Question:	I want a hub to give 5v to my blue yeti mic., as well as to power a wd 3tb portable drive. i need powered and data ports. 3.0 is future proofing
Answer:	The IQ ports just provide power. They don't provide a data connection. So you'd need a data connection that delivered 1.3 amps. Some drives provide a "Y" cable that allows you to connection to two ports. One of them is the data connection, the other is providing just additional power. The data ports on this provide .9 amps each so you could use two of those or figure out which connection on the "Y" cable is data and which is just power and connect the one that is just power up to the IQ port. If you just have one USB connection on your cable you might need to find another hub that provides 1.3 Amps (i.e. 1300 mA) or more.
Question:	Some of the usb ports (data sync) have stopped working.Is this a common issue

Answer:	JTJ said he didn't have a power jack. Either there is more than one version or he has one but didn't find it. It would be easy to miss. It's next to the USB cable. For basic devices, like a mouse, keyboard, etc, you do not need a power supply. The computer will power them, but the current the computer will supply is limited. Answer:	@T. Freese: No. The nature of USB is that devices can not communicate among themselves. All communication goes through the host computer. So a pair of 3.0 devices sharing a hub attached to a 2.0 computer will communicate at 2.0 speeds.
Question:	Does the fact that each has a switch mean that you can just turn each of them off without doing "safely remove" or "eject" devices
Answer:	The reason that you use the Windows Option to safely remove the drive is so that windows has a chance to close any File Pointer that is in use. If this is not done, then there is a chance that the file(s) will be locked and/or corrupted the next time the drive is accessed.So. It is recommended that you safely remove the drive before you hit that power switch on the hub.I have this hub and use it to access 1 4TB drive, 2 5TB drives and 1 8TB drive. That is a LOT of data to loose just because I got lazy.The one reason to have switches on a hub is so that you can have the drives OFF when not in use. Answer:	Don't know. Hard to setup and don't use reset button or if you hold it in it totally resets the router. Sent this back and bought a new Belkin, what I had. Took two minutes to install.

Q: Why doesn't the mouse react when I insert the wireless mouse receiver into this product?

A: According to Intel, USB 3.0 devices have noise of 2.4-2.5GHz, which may affect communication using this frequency band. Therefore, 2.4 GHz wireless devices (wireless keyboard, mouse adapter, etc.) may not work near a USB3.0 device or hub. We recommend connecting to a USB 2.0 port.
