Question:	This charger is rated up to 50 amps. Is it auto sensing or it a manual switch? More to the point, what wire size is needed
Answer:	The charger can deliver up to 50 continuous amps, which would require a circuit wired for at least 60 amps (60 amp circuit can deliver 80% of rating, so 48 amps). 60 amp circuits at 80% require 6 gauge wire. You set the maximum capacity of the charger when you configure it on the ChargePoint amp. EVs only draw the amount they are capable of charging at - so 9.6 Kw for most EVs except Teslas (240 V times 40 amps) New Teslas can draw above 50 amps, so that is what the max setting on the app does - it limits the safe output to the circuit capacity. There is no manual switch on the charger, it is all set through the app.
Question:	Is it possible to extend the nema 14-50 plug cable length by swapping it like you would a dryer
Answer:	This is why you need to research electrical codes or use an electrician. The 12” requirement in NEC 625.22 mandates the 12” applies to the “personal protection system” location to the plug not to the cord length from plug to vehicle that requirement is a minimum of of 6’ and max of 15’. Question:	Can it be set to charge to a certain percentage of charge? Like charge my battery to
Answer:	No. I set the charge limit to 70% in my vehicle (I can also do 80% or other value). Then I set the charge time (10pm-6am) in the ChargePoint app. An alternative is to have a short charge time (say 10-12pm). The charger does not know how much the vehicle is charged.
Question:	If the app experiences a problem or ChargePoint stops supporting it, what’s the default setting for amperage and is there a manual way to change it
Answer:	Hi there, Before you set up ChargePoint Home using the ChargePoint mobile app, the default amperage is set at 16A. However, once you select your preferred amperage during the set up process in the app, the chosen amperage (up to 50A) becomes your default going forward. Question:	It looks cheap and it is cheap why get this one instead of a juice box pro
Answer:	It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that come with a first rate level 2 EVSE or station. If you are a, "Plug it in when I get home, and unplug when I get ready to go, the "bells and whistles" That come with the more expensive units are just features you pay for but don't use. I use mine on a LEAF S, and my electric service costs the same day and night, no need for connectivity or scheduled charging. Well satisfied. $200 vs. $400 to $600, your choice.
Question:	A silly question, but is it OK to leave the charger plugged in into the wall outlet when the car is not being charged
Answer:	It is okay to leave the charger plugged in when not using it. The only thing it will do is draw very, very little power. It will not be a drastic difference on the bill, but electric companies recommend not leaving it plugged in.

Answer:	Hopefully the supplier will be able to give the answer b/c I as a buyer cannot say. I haven't had any safety issues, breakage, weak material, bad construction or anything so far even after being in the rain and snowed on . Very well made.

Answer:	Please note that a 20A rated breaker (the one in your panel) will allow 80% continuous current, so 16A maximum. Therefore max theoretical KW output would be 3,840 watts or 3.84KW. However, voltage at your receptacle is probably somewhere between 220-240V. So your max output may vary. Also note that the charger itself has a maximum rating.

Question:	Installed correctly by licensed elec. But my 2015 Volt only seems to be charging at 13.5 amps. Why
Answer:	The reason is your Volt is the charger and that’s the highest amps at which it will charge. The amps is limited by the charger built into the car. So while this cable is capable of drawing more amps, the 2015 Chevy Volt will only draw 13.5 plus or minus. Looks like your limited to 8 or 12 (13.5) amps. The 2019s are upgraded with a charger that utilize the 32amps.
Question:	What is a normal charging temperature? Mine is reaching 125f at 30 amps

Answer:	This is a level 2 charger, and like all such chargers, it is designed to be used with a 240 volt circuit. Note the NEMA 1450 plug. You will need an outlet similar to a dryer outlet to make this work. Most likely you will need an electrician to set up the wiring for you. Because it uses 240v, it charges several times faster than the one which comes standard with all Leafs.

Heavy Duty models exist, but this will often just result in wearing down the pins of the plug on the charging cable. Also note a 50A switch is different than a breaker. Do not use any breaker to regularly remove power except when its circuit is being maintained. Breakers are easily broken by such repeat use. For its part, the Mustart has delicate electronics to respond to the request of the car. Leaving it plugged in leaves it exposed to transient power surges in your local neighborhood, such as lightning strikes. Answer:	On my car i just unlock the car with the keyfob which releases the charger port lock you are referring to, but only temporary (ie: you need to unplug within 30 seconds or so, or the car will relock it) Another alternative is to simply unplug this from the wall.

Answer:	At 120V the charger charges at 1/2 the rate of 240 Volts The calculation of KVA or KW depends on both amps and volts. So if you use this charges at 240V, it is a 3.6 KW charger and at 120V it is a 1.8 KW. At either voltage the amp draw can be as high at 16 AMPS.

Answer:	This unit has an adapter that you can use for either 110V or 220V (the small cord). these cords do not change the voltage, they only monitor for faults and send what ever voltage the unit is plugged into, through to the car.

We bought the NEMA6-20 plug with level 1 adapter unit. The product was shipped well and arrived as scheduled. A couple of key things we like over the factory supplied charger: The wall hook to easily wrap the cord around and the "gun" holder you stick the charger into while it is not charging in the car. It's light weight and smaller than our original charger. It is nice to be able to easily adapt to the charging outlets available. We charged on 110 until we bought the 220 outlet and it was a simple switch for us. That option was available on the factory charger. We are happy so far!

Question:	How fast should i expect my ford fusion energi to charge with this when the battery is empty
Answer:	The fusion energi has a ridiculously small range.. With that said it would charge by 2018 volt battery in about 3 hours, which gave me about 58 real world miles. I would expect if your fusion on board charge controller allows for level 2 charging and you are using 240v it would be even faster than that. I would not recommend this product though, I sent mine back because it was Not charging the battery efficiently and reducing my overall mileage ( only getting half charge). This is not a quality product and I wouldn't waste your time and money on it.

Answer:	It has a TUV international rating which is equivalent to the UL in the United States

Answer:	depends upon the voltage it is hooked up to, 3.6 kw at 220 or 1.8 at 120v. It works well.
Question:	In one picture the plug appears to have a different shaped plug than the socket. Can you verify that the picture so I don't buy the wrong socket
Answer:	A nema 6-20 plug is what mine came with. I recommend going by the listing description, Which does advertise a 6 - 20 plug which is correct. I believe they offer different plug variations so they are probably using the same picture on each listing and it does seem confusing. Just make sure when you add the item to your cart and you check out that the item description remains a 6-20. On a positive note I can tell you from 1st hand experience that their customer service is excellent and if there were any issues they would solve them right away. I've been very pleased with my charger.

Answer:	Yes, the J1772 plug on this unit is compatible with the Honda Clarity charging port. You linked to the 240v / 16 amp unit here -- I have the 120v / 16 amp unit plugged into a standard outlet in my garage. Make sure you're selecting the right model for your plug-in scenario (the 240v requires a special plug and circuit).
Question:	What would happen if I leave my car charging overnight? Would it affect the battery? Or the charger would stop by itself after the car is fully charge
Answer:	The charger will stop on its own when the system is charged. I always charge overnight when energy costs are low.

Answer:	yes it does. Like every cables/ Charger, which are actually called E.V.S.E Cables (Electric Vehicle Service Equipment): there are 2 prongs that communicate with the car to tell when its accepting charge when its doesn't want any.
Question:	The charger that came with my 2016 chevy volt takes 12 hours for a full charge on 12a using a standard outlet. how long will it take if it pulls 16a
Answer:	If you continue to charge at Level 1 (standard 120V outlet), the Volt's internal charger and software will only allow you to pull a maximum of 12A. So your charge time will not change. The limitation on L1 charging is internal to the vehicle, not to the EVSE cordset. If you switch to level 2 (the dryer outlet style plug), the charge time will depend on the capacity of the circuit and the car's charging speed. Your Volt will only allow charging at 3.3 kW speed (which is fine given the relatively small battery), so your complete charge would take 4-5 hours depending mostly on outside temperature.

Question:	Can this evse be used outdoors? especially in wet conditions, assuming that the outlet is protected
Answer:	We started using this outdoors (no garage or carport) in October and we live in Seattle where it rains a lot. The plug has a cap to protect it from water, but I read somewhere that the cap isn’t even necessary. Whether it works in freezing temperatures is yet to be determined, but we’ll soon find out. I will try to update this answer in a month or so. We sometimes get faults, but it may have nothing to do with being outdoors. It happens so seldom and you merely have to unplug and re plug at the wall outlet. We’re very happy with this product so far.
Question:	Can i add an adapter to charge at tesla destination chargers (not supercharger. tesla wall connector)? if so where do you get the adapter

Answer:	The number of cards does not matter. Each card just causes the charger to change the current. Just tap any one of the cards several times and it will change. I did receive three cards when I ordered mine. I only every use 1.
