About the Actor

Ray Martin has been playing pool for over 50 years. He acquired the nickname of Cool Cat, when he calmly won a world title in 1971 in California when an earthquake was in progress during the event. Ray held the World Champion title in straight pool in 1971, 1974 and 1978. He has also has won several nine-ball tournaments, including the 1980 Caesars Tahoe Invitational, the 1981 ESPN King of the Hill, and the 1983 Music City Open. He finished 4th and 5th, respectively in the 1992 and 1993 BCA US Opens. In 1994, Martin was inducted into the Billiard Congress of America's Hall of Fame. In 2011, he was the first living player inducted into the Straight Pool Hall of Fame. Martin is the co-author of The 99 Critical Shots in Pool, one the most popular pool books of all time.

About the Actor

Grady The Professor Mathews, was born on January 3, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas. He is a legendary gambler and professional pool player, and a four-time World One Pocket Champion. In 2004, he was the first pool player to be inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame. In addition to his success at the table, he has been an author, a technical advisor to movie producers, a regular commentator on professional pool matches taped by Accu-Stats Video Productions, and a producer of billiard instructional videos. Grady has authored two books, promoted nineteen tournaments and produced eleven instructional videos. He has commentated on ESPN and The Billiard Channel, and been a contributing writer to several pool periodicals including Billiards Digest and The National Billiard News. He currently writes a monthly article for Inside Pool Magazine. Although he is probably best known for his featured role in The Color of Money, starring Paul Newman and Tom Cruise, he has also worked tirelessly throughout his career to promote pocket billiards, particularly the game of one pocket. He is the creator of the Legends of One Pocket series, and has given fans of the game many other tournaments as well. He is well known by pool players and fans around the world and especially respected for the comprehensive content and gracious presentation of his instructional videos.
