Concerned About Your Babycook Reservoir?

If you notice staining on the bottom of your Babycook's stainless steel water reservoir that resembles discolored dots, don't worry. This is not mold or rust. It's a normal and harmless buildup of calcium carbonate minerals called limescale - give it a google! Limescale is a direct result of heating up water and is inevitable with all stainless steel depending on the mineral concentration in your water. Other than discoloring and affecting the aesthetics, is not a cause for concern. Calcium carbonate doesn’t dissolve easily in water which is why soap and water will not remove the deposits - you need a mixture containing vinegar. Clean your reservoir as follows:

• Pour 1 cup vinegar into reservoir and let it sit overnight
• Pour out vinegar by tipping appliance over sink
• Repeat as necessary until clean
• Once clean, run 2 steam cycles with plain water on water level 3 to rinse out the vinegar
• Always use blending lid to prevent food from getting inside of reservoir + descale the Babycook regularly

Answer:	I make applesauce and pureed sweet potato weekly. You can fit 2 cut sweet potatoes in one basket, and 2-3 small cut apples in the second basket to steam at once. I've put 3 apples in the blender and it makes about three 5-ounce jars. sweet potato is even thicker so it could be four to five servings! depends on your little one's appetite :) I find this product is great for meal prep.

Answer:	Sometimes it doesn’t work if there isn’t enough water in the tank. If you have enough, you have to hit the 4 square button to navigate to the steam, set the time you want, then hit the power button. It may take a few seconds to kick on.

Answer:	Yes! I have used it for blending many times. I usually blend for pumpkin or fruit smooth puree! Baby enjoy it that we make baby food for him.

Answer:	I can remove the blades to clean separately, and it is easy to install. Be very careful when handling the blade set as the blade is very sharp.

Question:	The display screen is on, but why don’t steaming and blending function work
Answer:	This reel does have metal gears
Question:	Steamer is not working properly - I try to steam for lets say 15 minutes and it turns off after 5. Lid is properly locked and I am not sure what to do
Answer:	To change the line, you will turn the front cover counterclockwise 1/4 turn then it will pull straight off.
Question:	How to make purees smooth
Answer:	Depends on the reel size, rule of thumb being the model number reflects the line size 80 is 8 pound test the 100 is 10 pound etc. They average about 70-80 yards capacity.
Question:	Why doesn't it make soft food when stirred, still some particles
Answer:	I believe it comes with 8 lb test line (but not sure - it could be 6 lb )

Broccoli and Ham Egg Muffins from Baby-Led Feeding

These savory little bites have a lot going for them. They’re ideal any time of day—breakfast, lunch, snack, or dinner. They’re portable: Tote them to daycare or just out and about. And they are also easily customizable. Instead of broccoli and ham finely chop 1¼ cups cooked veggies and/or meat to use up what’s in your fridge. If your mini-muffin cups are on the larger side, this will make 12 muffins; if the cups are smaller, you may be able to make more.

Directions:

1 Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spray 12 mini-muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray.

2 Stir together the broccoli and ham. Divide evenly among the muffin cups.

3 In a medium measuring cup, whisk together the eggs and pepper to taste. Pour the eggs over the broccoli mixture in the muffin cups, dividing them evenly.

4 Bake for 25 minutes, or until set. Cool in the muffin cups for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Make Ahead: Refrigerate for up to 3 days. Serve cold, at room temperature, or briefly reheated.
