Answer:	I bought this product about 13-15 years ago, but as I recall the string was not stretchy. It had a nice texture to it ... my daughter used it for a few years (she's 25 now!). I also purchased it as a gift and it was well-received.

It is a Used book and often when we get books like this, we do not receive the materials that are supposed to come with them.
