12 best willmakers
Willmakers are individuals or entities that specialize in helping people create their last will and testament. A last will and testament is a legal document that outlines how a person's assets and property should be distributed after their death. Willmakers can offer various services related to estate planning, which includes drafting wills, creating trusts, and providing advice on minimizing estate taxes.
Key points to know about willmakers:
Estate Planning: Willmakers play a crucial role in estate planning, which involves organizing one's financial affairs and assets to ensure they are distributed according to the person's wishes after they pass away.
Professional Assistance: Many people seek the expertise of willmakers to ensure their wills are legally sound and adhere to local laws and regulations.Willmakers can guide individuals through the process and help them make informed decisions.
Types of Services: Willmakers offer a range of services, from simple will drafting to complex estate planning involving trusts, power of attorney, and healthcare directives. They tailor their services to the specific needs and goals of their clients.
Asset Distribution: Willmakers assist individuals in specifying how their assets, including money, real estate, investments, and personal belongings, should be distributed among beneficiaries, such as family members, friends, or charities.
Executor Appointment: In a will, individuals often name an executor who will oversee the distribution of assets and the execution of their wishes. Willmakers can help with this appointment and provide guidance on the responsibilities of an executor.
Updating Wills: It's essential to update your will when significant life changes occur, such as marriage, divorce, the birth of children, or the acquisition of new assets. Willmakers can help with these updates.
Estate Tax Planning: Willmakers can offer strategies to minimize estate taxes, ensuring that more of the estate's value goes to the intended beneficiaries.
Books and Resources: There are various books and online resources available to educate individuals about estate planning and willmaking. These resources can be useful for those who want to gain a better understanding of the process.
In summary, willmakers are professionals who assist individuals in creating legally binding wills and offer comprehensive estate planning services. Their expertise can be invaluable in ensuring that one's assets are distributed according to their wishes and in a tax-efficient manner. However, it's crucial to work with a qualified and reputable willmaker to ensure that your will is legally sound and up-to-date.

User questions & answers
Question: | is this for one person or for two |
Answer: | Yes, you can create your documents and they are editable. |
Question: | Can you edit a response or is this limited to fill in the blank? We are a blended family and want all our children treated the same |
Answer: | Yes it does, and, the documents are state specific. |
Question: | Does this software include complete instructions and forms on how to place a home title/deed into the trust |
Answer: | Yes, but you would open two separate files to generate the right documents for the different states. |
Question: | Will this software cover property in two different US states |
Answer: | Yes, you absolutely must create a new will. The probate process varies by state. Usually the only real difference is the way the will is executed. Some states may require notarization where others only require witness signatures. Other times the laws are just different. For example, Louisiana law is based heavily on French law whereas most other states borrow from the English Law. |

Living Trust Software
How Do Living Trusts Avoid Probate?
For many Americans, a significant goal of estate planning is to avoid probate. A revocable living trust, unlike a will, offers a fast, private, probate-free way to transfer one's property after death. Although a living trust is not a complete substitute for a will (it doesn't allow you to name a guardian for a child, for example), it is definitely a more efficient way to transfer property at death, especially large-ticket items such as a house. A Living Trust will ensure that your property bypasses lengthy and expensive probate proceedings.
A living trust is about as easy to prepare as a will. Do-it-yourself and save hundreds of dollars on attorney fees.
Durable Power of Attorney
A durable power of attorney ensures that someone you trust (called your "agent" or "attorney-in-fact") will be on hand to manage the many practical, financial tasks that will arise if you become incapacitated. For example, bills must be paid, bank deposits must be made and someone must handle insurance and benefits paperwork. In most cases, a durable power of attorney for finances is the best way to take care of tasks like these. You can also give your attorney-in-fact authority over your digital assets.
Health Care Directive or Living Will
Spare your loved ones difficult decisions by laying out your wishes for medical care and naming someone to carry out your instructions. Includes a health care power of attorney and a living will.

Plan a funeral or other ceremony and ease the burden on your loved ones. Describe your preferences for burial, cremation, memorials, obituaries and more.

User questions & answers
Question: | can this program also write a commercial rental lease |
Answer: | The difference between a will and a trust is that you can make a will whenever you want. A new will overwrites or supersedes an old will and most will start with a line like "I revoke all wills and codicils that I have previously made"... this means that you can completely redo a will at any time. A trust however, is completely different. It is a revocable living trust, meaning that it can be revoked OR amended until the person passes, and then it becomes irrevocable. You cannot just create a new trust, you would amend it to make any changes, and that can be done within the software once the trust has been created and the person has told the software that it is signed and in effect. At that point, all you can do is to amend, or to revoke the trust. I think that's why the wording is a little different. Once using the software, there is ample help as one moves through the different screens. :) *Credits to NOLO Support. |
Question: | Narrative specifically states the "will" can be edited & revised at any time. the comments on the "living trust" does not state anything. can it |
Answer: | Nolo's Trust doesn't really work for a gun trust, as the name of the trust is automatically set to be the individual's name(s) and a gun trust needs a different "title". Here's an article on Nolo.com for more details: https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/using-gun-trust-pass-firearms.html *Credits to NOLO Support |
Question: | Does this include documentation for a gun trust |
Answer: | The keycard is to download the software from Nolo. Once downloaded, you can save it in your hard drive, or in a thumb drive for future installation. :) |
Question: | None of our three computers uses a disk player. does key card substitute for that? something like a thumb drive |
Answer: | Multiple |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why would I need the "Premium" version |
Answer: | There is a property sheet that allows you to designate specific items to a certain person. |
Question: | Can you designate in the will that a specific item be left to a specific heir, for example a certain piece of furniture to a named person |
Answer: | Yes you can create more than one |
Question: | can you create more than one trust and or Will for different people in different states |
Answer: | I can't be sure, but it doesn't admit to doung that for any reason. I chose to get it installed, then check for and download updates, and THEN I disconnected my PC from Internet service, before launching the app again. I was able to do the entire interview, answering all questions, then printed copies and also saved as PDF, without ever having to be connected to the Internet. I exit the app before reconnecting, then disconnect from the Internet again, before restarting the app. Seems pretty secure that way. YMMV |
Question: | Like quicken and turbotax, does this program upload all of your personal information? i'd rather not have my whole life story owned by intuit |
Answer: | Sorry, I don’t know. Perhaps an appropriate lawyer would be advisable. |

Will-Writing Software
The heart of every estate plan is a will, also known as a last will and testament. This legal document puts you in control of who inherits your property and who would take care of your children if it were ever necessary. Without a will, state law determines these issues.*
*Documents reflect the laws of your state - estate planning documents are not valid in Canada, Louisiana and US Territories
Making a will rarely involves complicated legal rules. If you're like most people, you won't need a lawyer. With good do-it-yourself materials, it's not difficult to make a will that takes care of basic concerns, such as leaving a home, investments, a small business, and personal items to your loved ones.
With Quicken WillMaker Plus 2019 you can:
- Revise and update your will whenever you like
- Appoint guardians for your children and pets
- Name an executor (or 'personal representative') to carry out our wishes.
- Appoint a trusted person to manage property left to young people
Living Trust Software
Name someone you trust to take care of financial matters. A durable power of attorney ensures that someone you trust (called your 'agent' or 'attorney-in-fact') will be on hand to manage the many practical, financial tasks that will arise, such as paying bills, if you become incapacitated.
Health Care Directive or Living Will
Spare your loved ones difficult decisions by laying out your wishes for medical care and naming someone to carry out your instructions. State what types of medical treatment you do or do not want if you are too ill or injured to direct your own care.
Final Arrangements
Plan a funeral or other ceremony and ease the burden on your loved ones. Describe your preferences for burial, cremation, memorials, obituaries and more.
Letters to Survivors
Use the Letter to Survivors to leave your loved ones detailed explanations about your decisions. For example, you may want to let them know why you made certain gifts, named a particular person to be your executor or leave some general thoughts about your life.
