Answer:	You don’t have to use them. I use the metal spatula part first after I’ve rinsed my face in warm water on ion+ mode. Then the wavy part of the scrubber after I apply my facial cleanser and give it a once over using ion- mode. Then I give it another once over on the bristle side with cleaning mode, and rinse.
