Answer: I thought a complexion brush ( I had to Google it) was for applying make up like blush or powder, eye shadow, etc. And I would not think of this as comparable to that definition of complexion brush. I used to use natural sponges to wash my face; applying Derma e facial wash to it, and cleaning my face, but when I read in a magazine about the Konjac sponges, I looked them up on Amazon to see what they were all about. I bought one some months ago to use in place of my natural sponge. I liked it so much that when it wore out, I got another one. If you are trying to find a kind of exfoliater, the sponge is very soft when wet and I'm not sure how effective it would be in that capacity unless the 'soap/wash' you were using has some exfoliation properties like Olay Regenerist. Hope this helps.

Answer: I definitely use cleanser with my sponge. I'm not sure of the different qualities of the different color/types of sponges. I've used 2 different colors and didn't notice any difference. I do love this sponge! It is so soft when wet. I noticed a big difference in my skin when I first started using it due, I think, to the mild exfoliating property of the sponge. I agree with Konjac's response, you only need a small amount of cleanser for a lot of lather. I think my skin looks better than it has in years because of this product. I'm over 60 years old.
