13 best philips sonicare toothbrushes

Philips Sonicare toothbrushes are a popular line of electric toothbrushes and oral care products known for their advanced cleaning technology and dental hygiene benefits. Here's what you need to know about Philips Sonicare toothbrushes:

  1. Sonic Technology: Sonicare toothbrushes use sonic technology to clean teeth thoroughly. They create rapid brush head movements, typically in the range of 31,000 to 62,000 brush strokes per minute, to effectively remove plaque and debris from teeth and along the gumline.

  2. Cleaning Modes: Many Sonicare models offer multiple cleaning modes, such as "Clean," "Gum Care," "Sensitive," and "Whitening." These modes allow users to customize their brushing experience based on their specific oral care needs and preferences.

  3. Pressure Sensors: Some Sonicare toothbrushes are equipped with pressure sensors that alert users if they are applying too much pressure while brushing. This feature helps prevent over-brushing, which can be harmful to tooth enamel and gums.

  4. Timers: Sonicare toothbrushes often include timers to ensure users brush for the recommended two minutes, which is the dentist-recommended brushing duration for optimal oral hygiene. Some models also have a QuadPacer feature that prompts users to switch to a different quadrant of the mouth every 30 seconds.

  5. Smart Connectivity: Certain Sonicare toothbrush models are equipped with Bluetooth connectivity and smartphone apps that allow users to track their brushing habits, receive real-time feedback, and set oral care goals.

  6. Replacement Heads: Philips Sonicare toothbrushes use replaceable brush heads. It's important to replace these brush heads regularly, typically every three months, to maintain optimal cleaning performance. There are different types of brush heads available, including those designed for specific oral care needs like whitening, gum care, and sensitivity.

  7. Battery Life: Sonicare toothbrushes come with rechargeable batteries, and the battery life varies depending on the model. Some can last up to two weeks on a single charge, making them convenient for travel.

  8. Hygienic Features: Many Sonicare toothbrushes include features like UV sanitizers for the brush heads to help eliminate germs and bacteria between uses.

  9. Compatibility: Philips offers a range of Sonicare toothbrush models with varying features and price points to cater to different preferences and budgets. Additionally, many Sonicare toothbrushes are compatible with a wide selection of replacement brush heads.

  10. Professional Recommendations: Sonicare toothbrushes are often recommended by dental professionals for their effectiveness in promoting good oral health and preventing dental issues such as cavities and gum disease.

In summary, Philips Sonicare toothbrushes are known for their advanced sonic cleaning technology, customizable cleaning modes, and features like pressure sensors and timers to help users maintain good oral hygiene. Regular replacement of brush heads is essential to ensure optimal cleaning performance. Sonicare offers a range of models to suit various preferences and oral care needs, making them a popular choice for those looking to upgrade their dental care routine.

User questions & answers

Question: What is frustration free packaging
Answer: Hello! Frustration-free packaging is: Recyclable and does not include excess packaging materials, such as hard plastic clamshell casings, plastic bindings, and wire ties. Designed to be opened without a box cutter or knife, while protecting products just as well as traditional packaging.
Question: What is the difference between this toothbrush and the sonice 2 series
Answer: The 4100 has lithium battery, the series 2 uses NiMH. 4100 can be put on charger daily. Series 2 needs to have a drained battery before recharging. The 4100 also has a pressure sensor. I had the same question, and this is the response I got from Phillips.
Question: Does it develop mold in the area where the brush head connects to the handle? My very old one does
Answer: I haven’t noticed anything like that at all. After every time I brush my teeth, I take my hand towel (a little damp), and remove the toothbrush head, wipe that off, and I also I wipe off the handle itself as well as the metal bar at the very top that the toothbrush clicks on to. It may seem tedious, but it literally takes me less than 60 seconds and I do think it’s good practice and helps prevent any sort of build up/accumulation.
Question: Is this charger compatible with voltage range of 220V
Answer: Hello! Yes, you shouldn't have any issues charging this toothbrush on your travels as long as the voltage of the outlet you're plugging into doesn't exceed 220V. The voltage for this particular Sonicare is 100-220V.

Brush heads become less effective after 3 months of use, but we'll remind you before this happens. When used with a Philips Sonicare BrushSync compatible handle (e.g. any DiamondClean Smart or ProtectiveClean model), your toothbrush tracks how often and how hard you brush, and will notify you when it's time for a replacement. Don't have a Philips Sonicare BrushSync compatible toothbrush? No worries, just monitor your blue replacement reminder bristles, and when they turn white you'll know it's time.

BrushSync mode-pairing

When used with a Philips Sonicare BrushSync compatible handle (e.g. any DiamondClean Smart model or ProtectiveClean 6100), our convenient BrushSync mode pairing feature will allow you to effortlessly achieve the best possible clean. User questions & answers

Question: Waterproof? I tend to get water & toothpaste all over the Sonicare handle but never had any damage. Will this be more sensitive to water
Answer: I've been using a Phillips Sonicare toothbrush for many years and have never had any problem with them being 'sensitive' to water. I remove the brush head and wash that and the handle after every brushing and have no problems at all.
Question: My unit stopped working and wont charge anymore. Any recommendations
Answer: Hi there, Thank you for choosing Philips Sonicare. Philips has released a new DiamondClean Smart firmware developed to help your brushing and charging experience. STEP 1: Download or update to the latest version of the Philips Sonicare app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. STEP 2: Open the App and follow the instructions to connect your Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart toothbrush to the Sonicare app. STEP 3: A firmware update notification message will appear. To install the update, select the notification, and follow the in-app wizard. If you should have any questions on this update, please feel free to contact us to speak with a Consumer Care specialist at 1-800-682-7664.
Question: Can it be used by multiple people
Answer: Hello! Yes, more than one person may use this Sonicare DiamondClean Smart as long as different heads are used.
Question: Do i use all 3 brushes at the same brushing time
Answer: Not necessarily, although the settings can be changed. When you attach one of the smart brush head, it will choose the optimum settings for your brush head type automatically for optimum cleaning. Clean is a 2-minute mode, White+ is a 2-minute 40-seconds mode, Gum Health is a 3-minute 20-seconds mode, Tongue Care is a 20-second mode, DeepClean+ mode length depends on whether or not the handle is connected to the app. In connected mode DeepClean+ runs for two minutes and provides BrushPacer feedback every 20 seconds. User questions & answers

Question: Is the handle rubber or smooth plastic surface
Answer: A full charge lasts up to 14 days if you use it twice per day 2 minutes per use (this equals 56 minutes). If the battery is fully drained, then it takes 12 hours to recharge. I tested mine and let it run without a brush head attached (hey, I didn't want to put unnecessary wear and tear on it), and without a brush head it ran for nearly 85 minutes before the battery ran out of power. During the last 10 or 15 minutes, it automatically shifts to a reduced speed in order to give you time to get a few more uses out of it before the battery runs out of power. While it's running in this reduced speed, the low battery light blinks. When the battery finally runs out of power, it gently but quickly slows down to a stop and the light keeps blinking. Not only that, but while the toothbrush is approaching the last bit of power from the rechargeable battery, the speed and power remain 100% constant. I was impressed. This is a fairly sophisticated design for a ~$50 electric toothbrush! If the battery stops working entirely, then you have to buy a new electric toothbrush. Of course, it's also recommended that you take the built-in rechargeable battery out and dispose of it properly and it warns you that once the battery is removed, the handle is pretty much destroyed (because you have to break off the top with a wrench). You can leave this on the charger in between every use though. There's a special design that prevents overcharging. Oh yeah, and just in case you're considering the Pro 1000: the Pro 1500 destroys the Pro 1000 because it does 9,900 oscillations per minute and 45,000 pulsations per minute while the Pro 1000 only does 8,800 oscillations and 20,000 pulsations. That's Daily Clean mode. The Pro 1500 also has a 2nd mode called Sensitive, which does 7,400 oscillations per minute and 33,000 pulsations per minute. I just use that mode for rinsing the brush heads though to minimize spraying. I own both the Pro 1000 and the Pro 1500, and for me, the Pro 1500 is far, far better.
Question: Is the phillips protectiveclean 6100 waterproof or water-resistant and which one is it
Answer: There really isn't a 2 minute *cycle*. The timer simply makes the motor stutter once every 30 seconds, and 3 times once every 2 minutes. It will continue doing that until the battery dies (again, there's no real *cycle* to speak of). If you press too hard, the only thing that happens is the red light comes on and the pulsation stops until you stop pressing so hard. It takes a huge amount of pressure to make that happen, so if you're making it happen a lot, then you really need to work hard at just letting the toothbrush do all the work. I'm still new to power brushing, but I haven't been able to get the red light to come on accidentally. I did test it though and it does work, so it's not that. I just let this thing do all the work. There's no need to press hard at all.
Question: It says it's a "whitening" electric toothbrush, what toothpaste is needed to whiten our teeth
Answer: Okay, I am going to answer my own question. I spoke to Oral-B today. Firstly, the projected life span of these toothbrushes is 3 to 5 years. Secondly, the battery is NOT replaceable. It is rechargeable for 3 to 5 years after which the battery will no longer hold a charge and cannot be replaced. They ask that you remove the battery for proper recycling before you dispose of the toothbrush. If you open the toothbrush in an attempt to change the battery, you void any and all warranties, and they claim it will make the product unusable afterward. So, purchase an electric toothbrush with the expectation that it will work for 3 to 5 years, and afterward you will have to replace the entire unit. The brush heads should be replaced at least every 3 months. They also confirmed what I thought was the case about charging the toothbrush. Every SIX MONTHS you should leave the toothbrush running until it completely drains and then recharge it. Between uses, you should leave it on the recharging stand. That is what I did with my old toothbrush, and apparently I was correct. I always let it run down completely every June and every December. The rest of the year it remained on its stand if not in use. I hope this helps someone else who may be looking for the answers to these questions.
Question: Is the toothbrush charged on a Plug in base
Answer: I just want to comment on the 1500 model which I bought today after much deliberating which one to buy. The next step up after the 1500 is the 3000 with Bluetooth installed. Seriously, Bluetooth in a toothbrush? I visited the Braun web sight (06-25-2018) and the 1500 isn't offered by Braun anymore, I hope that isn't a bad sign for people that bought it. At our Super Walmart today they had two 1500 tooth brushes and I bought one of them, they probably had 10 of the 1000 model. A few customers say it has two speeds but no where in it's sales description does it say it does that I could find Sales info says it has one mode which suggests one speed. I checked mine, it has two speeds, topic closed.

The bristles of the brush head curves around your teeth and gums for up to 4x more surface contact** and up to 10x more plaque removal. If you're brushing too hard, the pressure sensor makes the toothbrush handle gently pulsate so you can be gentle on your gums.

AdaptiveClean brush head

Our AdaptiveClean brush head is the only electric toothbrush head that can follow the unique shape of your teeth and gums. With soft flexible sides made of rubber, this brush head can follow every curve. It offers up to 4x more surface contact and up to 10x more plaque removal along the gum line and between teeth. As the brush tracks along the gum line, it absorbs any excessive brushing pressure you might apply so you can be gentle on gums however you brush.

Intuitive pressure sensor

You might not notice if you're brushing too hard, but your FlexCare Platinum toothbrush will. If you apply too much pressure, the intuitive pressure sensor will make the toothbrush handle gently vibrate so you know exactly when to adopt a softer touch. In studies, 7 out of 10 aggressive brushers successfully reduced their brushing pressure thanks to the pressure sensor.

Customized brushing experience

With three intensity settings and three cleaning modes, FlexCare Platinum offers optimal comfort as you get a truly deep clean. If you need to pay extra attention to trouble spots, the three-minute Deep Clean mode delivers exceptional results. Use Clean mode for a superb everyday clean, or White mode for stain removal. Set the intensity to Low, Medium or High according to your personal preference.

Deep Clean mode

Our Deep Clean mode delivers an exceptional clean in hard-to-reach places. The unique motion of the brush head in this mode plus an extended three-minute brushing time makes it the ideal choice when you want to pay extra attention to trouble spots.

Sonic technology

At over 31,000 strokes per minute, next generation FlexCare Platinum delivers a superior clean that you'll both see and feel. The dynamic cleaning action of our sonic technology drives fluid deep between teeth and along the gum line. As your FlexCare Platinum brush gently massages the gums, it stimulates blood circulation and helps to dislodge plaque. You get a powerful yet gentle clean that delivers clinically proven results.

Quadpacer and SmarTimer

FlexCare Platinum offers two timers to help encourage thorough brushing. The Quadpacer interval timer indicates when it’s time to move to another quadrant of the mouth, while the SmarTimer helps you reach the dentist recommended brushing time of two minutes.

Brush head replacement cues

Brush heads become less effective after 3 months of use, but we'll remind you before this happens. When used with a Philips Sonicare BrushSync compatible handle (e.g. any DiamondClean Smart or ProtectiveClean model), your toothbrush tracks how often and how hard you brush, and will notify you when it's time for a replacement. Don't have a Philips Sonicare BrushSync compatible toothbrush? No worries, just monitor your blue replacement reminder bristles, and when they turn white you'll know it's time.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference in this and adults? Just the head size? 500 strokes per second is almost the 31000 per minute of the adult
Answer: Important to realize this kids sonic is exactly the same brush head and handle size as the adult. It does a have grippy bump plate . However Its identical in size tom adult sonic. I was expecting it to be scaled down for the little ones.
Question: What size of brush head does it have
Answer: It has a normal adult size brush. But you can order smaller sized. They are all interchangeable.
Question: do you have to use the app for the toothbrush to make sense or can it be used independently? (i dont have iphone/pad
Answer: You can use the toothbrush without the app.
Question: Is a 2 years old toddler too young to use this
Answer: I'm a dental hygienist and I have used the sonicare for kids on my boys since they were 2 and a half and 7. The sonicare will do a better job at brushing their teeth with the sonic action, getting to areas where the bristles might not actually get to. However, even with that said, I would not let my 2 year old use the brush on their own, I always brushed his teeth FOR him. They can do a lot of damage to the soft tissues with a brush like this, on their own. If you want them to do it on their own, let them have a manual toothbrush, and then go over it with the sonicare, which you should already be doing anyways with their brushing since a 2 year old isn't capable of brushing effectively.

User questions & answers

Question: Can I buy the brush head case seprately
Answer: Hello! No, the premium brush head case is not able to currently be purchased separately.
Question: Does the 9750 have 3 ways to charge(glass, case, and plastic stand) like
Answer: Hello! The Sonicare DiamondClean 9750 includes a charging glass and case.
Question: Is it worth it almost
Answer: I don't think that this Sonicare DiamondClean or the Oral B IO series 9 are worth the $300 that they are trying to sell them for. Both have quite a bit of competition, now and the competition are good rivals. The Burst sells for under $100 and has been tested to clean better than the Sonicare. Where they really rape you are for the price of the replacement brush heads that Sonicare and Oral B charge a fortune for. They are just like Gillette. They charge a smaller fee to get you to buy their handle and then nail you when you need replacement brushes.
Question: Does the 9750 have 3 ways to charge(glass, case, and plastic stand) like
Answer: Hello! The Sonicare DiamondClean 9750 includes a charging glass and case.

User questions & answers

Question: Do these heads fit 5000 series sonicare model hx5100/b
Answer: Hello! These Philips E-Series Screw-On brush heads are compatible with the Philips Sonicare Essence toothbrush.
Question: What's the difference between frustration free packaging and standard packaging
Answer: I believe the difference is that they are not packaged in the hard plastic that you have to use a box cutter or scissors to open. These are packaged in baggies which are much easier to open.
Question: This Phiips numbering is confusing, I have an e Series, but received the wrong brushes before. Will both HX7022 and HX7002 work in my holder
Answer: It sounds like you have the elite size toothbrush, smaller heads. Look for brushes that say they are elite size. They usually say on the package. The other size brush heads are bigger and came on the Sonicare when they first came out. I hope this helps you.Blessings Pastor George
Question: I'm trying to find out if these HX7022/30 replacement brush heads will work for my HX
Answer: Not sure what HX7002/82 is, but this brush head works perfectly on any Elite series Phillips sonicare
