The stairs can be used by a dog if you make a game of going up and down with you at their side to get them to trust you and the big dark place is ok to be in with you. I have made a fun thing with my dog to go into the basement every time I go down. Take it slow ( one stair down then back up and see if the dog will back up or turn and come up) have fun and reward them. Most dogs may slide and hurt their feet and resist doing it if they injure their feet on a sandpaper like surface. You may contact your local vet. and ask about dog agility people who have a feel for max. steepness that will work. |

I would be careful with the ends of the ramp, they could possible scratch or damage the interior. As an added note. It will not fit in my wife's small SUV without crossing over the rear seat/back. | Answer: | The ramp is approximately 19" wide with an 18" walking surface. Keep in mind the angle of your door opening. On my Ram, the door does not open completely perpendicular to the seat, i.e. 90 degrees. This means that a portion of the ramp at the bottom is under the door. A small portion, 1" max. But, I am sure every vehicle is different. The wider your door opens from the vehicle the more space you will have. Of course you can insert the ramp at an angle. In my situation is wouldn't work because a portion hung over the edge of the seat creating an unstable platform. I prefer the ramp to be stable as not to scare or worse, harm the pet. |

| Answer: | Yes, you can still close the tailgate even with a 6.5' bed. Total assembled length on mine is 77". I have an 8' bed with an 18" deep tool box and it fits perfectly with the tailgate up. It's actually ideal for a 6.5' bed because the tie down points at the corners line up perfectly with the factory tie downs in the bed. If you have a drop in plastic bed liner I would recommend a 3/4" piece of plywood under it so it sits flat and solid. I have line-x in mine and I put rubber anti skid mats under it to prevent movement. So far I have no complaints other than the poor paint job. |
