Answer:	I don'y have experience with the deep waver, but my hair is in layers and it is cut in a bob, just above my shoulders also. I love this waver ! Makes a nice wave without the kinky look. Answer:	Yes it had an auto shut off, most curling irons do. But I found out the hard way that it doesn't shut off when it overheats.

Answer:	I'm a hair dresser and I would not recommend using this on wet hair. It will dry your hair out and damage it. However, I blow dry my hair quickly with my hand, I don't even use a brush, and then the Instawave smooths my hair out for me and makes it look acceptable haha. I love this thing so much, I bought a second one in case the first one ever breaks. I haven't tried it on straight hair yet, so I don't know how well it works for thinner straight hair, but for medium to very thick hair, it is excellent!
